The Rescue Part I

Imagine you have the most powerful weapon at your disposal. Better yet, hell, the last hope for humanity is in the palm of your hands so, what do you do with it? You take straight to the front lines and obliterate your enemies, right? Take it to the queen mother, or whatever their leader is, and turn their skull into a coffee mug, right? Well, according to Commander Broom Up His Ass Keys, you send them on a useless ass search and rescue mission.

"Are you kidding me!?" I yelled knowing full well he was not at all kidding me.

"No," He responded flatly. See what I mean by broom up his ass?

"Maybe if you had a brain left you would know that you are a massive liability as you are now." Said Orion, who was commanders Key's top squad leader, and expert kiss ass.

"Sorry, can't hear you over the sound of your fat lips smacking the commander's ass." I retort.

"Childish." Orion said, rolling her eyes.

"Says the child." I retort again.

"Enough you two," Commander Keys barked. We both had more to say but we decided to just grumble and hear him out.

"As I was saying, I need you two to travel to Helios II and find out what happened to the research squad that was sent there. We lost communication with them an hour ago and as you know, we are already spread thin all over the sector. Since you two already on hand, I need you both to take this mission immediately. Orion, you will head this mission with your squad and Samson, I need you to provide your support"

"Understood, I will not fail you." Orion said with a slight bow. I still wanted to argue but finding out the mission was taking place near the front made this slightly more bearable.

"As long as I get to kill some alien bastards, I'll do my best." I said.

"Good. Once you locate the team and secure a safe haven, message Coms so that they can send the support group that is on standby."

"Yes, sir." Orion said, resolute and eager, while I simply just nod.

"Be careful out there. Dismissed." Commander Keys said before returning to his desk. Orion gave a salute and immediately started heading for the door while I simply turned and started walking towards the door as well. Unfortunately, we were traveling the same way and Orion felt the insatiable need to talk. I am not going to even tell you what was said but in summary I went like, "Blah, blah, follow my lead, blah, you need to learn respect, blah, blah, blah, I love sucking ass."

Last thing I need is some kiddy little ass wipe telling me what to do, but hell I'll honestly put up with anything as long as I can get on the field. It has been three months since I was infected with the parasite and though I hate to admit the kid was right, I am still a bit… clumsy with my new body. Even now, the best I can do is walk with a limp and since my arms keep swinging and moving awkwardly, I just keep them folded to my chest. And don't get me started on how awfully I pilot Hel Knight, which is the name of my mech if you weren't paying last time.

Johanne, my personal physician, and Miranda, his assistant, and also my personal therapist, both agree that it was probably best for me to go out into the field to get used to moving my body and piloting Hel Knight. It wasn't the type of field work I wanted, but I guess I should thank them. I've been cooped up in this depressing ass space station for way too damn long and they finally allowed me to have the chance to stretch my legs somewhere else. Too bad I would end up losing them again.
