Chapter 1-The Interview

The Lancaster Group's and co-building is just what I expected - magnificent and enormous.

"We have arrived," announced the taxi driver, coming to a halt.

"Thanks, I appreciate it," I said with a smile that I couldn't hide. It's no surprise though, as I was at the top of my class at Gowen College. I believe I am well-suited for the role of personal assistant to the CEO of Lancaster Group.

After paying the cab driver a generous tip, I gracefully exited the vehicle and made my way into the building with a confident stride. I was dressed to impress in a sharp and sophisticated ensemble; a crisply ironed knee-length black skirt, a pristine white button-up shirt, and a navy blue blazer that expertly complemented my fair complexion. My lustrous blonde hair cascaded down my shoulders in loose waves, and I accessorized with a pair of understated gold hoop earrings. On one hand, I carried a sleek and professional tote bag, while on the other hand held onto my important file. My natural beauty shone through, with my bare and unadorned oval face, as I checked the time on my conservative yet chic diamond-encrusted rectangular quartz wristwatch before proceeding towards the company. Upon entering the lobby, I confidently approached the receptionist's desk.

"Good morning, ma'am."

'' Good morning'' she replied in an unfriendly tone looking at me rather weirdly I guess she thought I was one of those girls that are here to seduce her boss I couldn't care less about her thoughts.

'' My name is Nathalie Hammers I am here for an interview please.''

In a professional tone, she directed, "The interview will take place on the 35th floor. To get there, please head towards the elevator on the left-hand side of the building. Thank you." Despite her attitude, she maintained a helpful demeanor.

I proceeded to the elevator, which brought me to the 35th floor. As I stepped out, I was taken aback by the layout of the floor, which was entirely occupied by a single office. The secretary's desk was positioned directly opposite the entrance to the CEO's office, creating a central focal point for the room. It was at this moment that I became aware of a woman seated across from the secretary's desk, sitting elegantly with heavy makeup and strong cologne, a white buttoned shirt exposing her cleavage a little I guess she was also here for the interview I glance at her and launch forward to the secretary's desk.

''good morning sir''

'' Good morning, ma'am. How may I be of assistance to you?

'' My name is Nathalie Hammers, I am here for the interview'' he nodded

'' please take a seat beside that woman''

''thanks''

As someone who doesn't typically engage with others, I sat down next to the woman and greeted her with a quiet "Good morning." When she didn't respond, I assumed she was also reserved. Not too long ago, I heard a deep, masculine, and angry voice devoid of any emotion.

'' Do you think you can be my assistant with your qualifications and dress Are you sure you are not here to seduce me dressing like a slut. Get out of my sight right now'' my heartbeat accelerated as I heard him. I am confident, but having heard a few things about the almighty CEO of Lancaster Group being cold I couldn't help but shiver. the lady dashed out in tears and left heartbroken Then the secretary told me that I could go in. I clutch my file and handbag tighter having cold feet and feeling reluctant to go in but I could only muster all the courage within me and step into the CEO's office.

Immediately I stepped in I was overwhelmed with the interior design which is of a contemporary oriental touch of Asian interior style giving a calm, peaceful, and serene atmosphere and view. In the enormous room there was a large wooden desk with a laptop, intercom, and files neatly arranged on it, behind the table there was a swivel chair and a wooden Asian-like shelf where creative luxurious crafts designs were placed, across the wooden desk were other two ergonomic chairs. in the massive room, there was a large cushion and a round glass table at the center with a flower vase and a magazine placed on it which is at the far end of the room where a full-length gigantic window is placed, I also saw a door which I believed might be the private bathroom or rest area.

'' If you are done staring then get out of my sight'' he said frustrated and irritated. That was when I noticed a handsome man sitting behind the desk, his delicate face sculpted by God, desert blue-like eyes, a sharp nose with thin lips, and fair tender skin.

'' Please am so sorry sir'' I said trying to plead with him.

'' I said get out now before I make you regret your action'' he said furiously

I just couldn't leave like that not when this man was being rude even if I couldn't secure the job I won't let him trample on me like some kind of shit. I muster courage and face him saying

'' With all due respect sir, if others don't qualify for the job doesn't mean another person can't, You should at least allow me to express myself'' he looked at me doubtfully and said

'' sit.''
