Loose screws in her head

Kian won't speak to Daphne. Anything Daphne said to him to get a reply from him, only made him ignore Daphne more. As though she didn't exist. There was nothing unusual in his behavior, he was being his normal mean self who didn't care about anyone but himself.

Daphne felt as though she had been rejected by Kian once again before she could try something new. It was difficult to think of a way to seduce a man like Kian, he refused to give Daphne the chance to be near him.

"What else do you want with your coffee?" Daphne asks the customer in front of her. Even though she looked as though she was focused on her job, she could hardly focus. She had never been desperate to be with a guy before. Kian actions of pushing her away again and again. Only increase her desire to get him.

The cafe was a lot more busy than yesterday. A lot of people came in and out. Everyone was busy. But Daphne's obvious plan made it difficult for Esther and the rest of Daphne's co-workers to concentrate. Everyone wanted to know if Daphne was going to do it. They all wanted to see what the cold-hearted Kian Landon was going to do with Daphne's attempt.

"Why is it so difficult to get close to him," Daphne complained as she and Esther both cleaned the dirty dishes in the kitchen.

"I still don't see a point in it. No offense but I don't think there's anything special about Kian. I mean Kian is just Kian." Esther dried the plate on her hand.

'Kian is not just Kian.' Daphne thought back. But she couldn't tell Esther the truth about what Kian was. Esther was never going to believe her.

"With the way the day is going. I don't think Mr Mateo is going to close the cafe early today." Esther groan. She didn't like working but she needed money to survive.

"I need you to help me."

"I'm already helping you. If I wasn't here. You will be washing all of these alone."

"No. I need you to help me with Kian. He won't listen to me and he won't give me any chance to approach him."

"I feel it's best you let him be. Leave him alone like he wants." Esther gave Daphne a serious look.

"I can't let him go. I can't give up." Daphne thought of Noah and all the people in her life she lost because of him.

Esther felt the need to give in to Daphne's demands when she saw the look on Daphne's face. "Okay. How about I help you out another day?" They were still on their working hours. Mr Mateo didn't pay them money so that they could have a happy romantic life.

"It can't be another day it has to be today." Daphne insists stubbornly. She hadn't moved forward with her plans for Kian. Daphne felt desperate to move forward.

"Just help her out Esther," Bella suggested. She had overheard Daphne and Esther's conversation while bringing in more dirty dishes into the kitchen.

"I didn't say that I wasn't going to help her, I just can't help her today." Esther was also worried that if Mr Mateo found out about what Daphne wanted to do during working hours, they might lose their job, or possibly get their pay reduced as a form of punishment.

Bella shakes her head disappointedly at Esther as she leaves the kitchen.

"Why can't you fall in love with someone else's, who is I don't know. Less of a risk?" Esther asks Daphne. She thought about her job. Was risking so much for Kian worth it? No one knew anything about him. Even if someone among them knew something, no one spoke of it.

"Not having him in my life is more of a risk."

Esther cringes at how love-sick Daphne sounded.

Daphne was going to take a risk with Kian in her life. There was no assurance that he would help her fight against Noah. No assurance that he would choose to stand by her side and use his power for her. Even if Daphne didn't know what the future may hold for them she was willing to fight against anything that made her plans impossible. Even if that meant taking a thousand rejections from Kian.

"If I don't make Kian love me, the shadows of fear that had been created in my life are going to follow me forever."

"What does that even mean? Shadows of what?.." Esther ask confused. Daphne's words made her feel worried. Although they were talking about Kian, Daphne's last statement felt like she was referring to someone else.

"Forget about what I said, are you going to help me? No, I need you to please help me." Daphne held Esther's arm with pleading eyes. "Remember all the times I have helped you out? You told me that you owe me one. I have never asked anything of you before except for today."

Esther tried to avoid looking at Daphne's eyes, but it was impossible because Daphne was so close to her. "Okay, I will help you," Esther said. Daphne was right about Esther owing her one. Esther knew that she owed Daphne more than one favor because Daphne had helped her so many times without asking for anything in return. "Whatever you want to do, please don't do it in front of Mr Mateo."

"I won't. Don't worry about that." Daphne said. "I just need you to lure Kian for me. Mr Mateo isn't going to know about anything."

Esther was worried about the way Daphne sounded. Her feelings for Kian was creating loose screws in her head. "I shouldn't have agreed to this," Esther said silently to herself as she listened to the crazy plan Daphne had to trap Kian so that she could convince Kian to go out with her. Even though Esther was sure that the plan wasn't going to work, she nodded to every word Daphne said.

"Are you sure that you don't want to do this another day?" Esther asks again. Looking for a way to back out. But after the look Daphne gave her, she said. "Okay, today. We will do this today."

"Thank you," Daphne said to Esther.
