Home Sweet Home and Uninvited Guests

Matt headed in the direction of the meet up point while also taking note of the environment around him. There quite a few infected that he hadn't see before. Some had strange growths, while others had grown tall and thin. He even noticed a few that were bloated like they had been filled with helium like balloons. He killed a few of each just to find out if they had abilities to harvest or to evaluate what would happen when you killed them.

Most, died just like a normal infected with the only difference being that they were slightly faster or stronger. The ones that were surprising were the bloated ones since one of two things happened when you killed them. If you got close to them they would try to crush you with their oversized bodies and pop with a gross acid like liquid pouring out. If you killed them from a distance, they tended to explode with the same acid like liquid with the exception that they burst into flames.

It seemed that he would have to come up with a new format for naming these new infected. The other thing that he noticed was the plants. It seemed that they were reclaiming the cities from civilization. Plants now grew to extreme heights along sidewalks and places where small trees were planted had become small forests as they ripped buildings apart.

Civilization was being wiped from the face of the Earth in a literal sense. Looking at the park that was located in a vacant spot in the buildings, it could be seen that a forest of fruit trees had sprouted and there were even some animals and bugs moving around. Noticing this, Matt passed by quickly to see what kinds of animals were around while also picking a few different kinds of fruits to try and possibly plant inside the base they were going to build.

After another hour, he finally arrived at the meet up point just as the others were cleaning up the last of the infected in the area. They had already piled up the bodies so that it would be easier for him to use his abilities.

Matt nodded in satisfaction while putting all of the bodies into his space vessel to slowly absorb them into his energy vessel. He had noticed that slowly absorbing the bodies gave him more energy than absorbing all of them at once. The only logical reason he could think of was that some of the energy was lost in the process of breaking down such a large volume.

"Where do you plan to build this base, boss?" James asked.

"I plan to remove all of the buildings in an area using deconstruction, then I will make an entirely new building at the center. After that is done, I will continue to spread out from the area around the central building. The base will be three miles wide for now with high walls with stationary weapons under coverings." Matt said.

"What do you need us to in the mean time?" Morgan asked.

"I need all of you to spread out locate supplies, but be wary of the new types of infected that have begun to appear." Matt said.

The rest of the group nodded as they headed out. With them gone, Matt got to work on what he planned to do. He started by spreading out his energy to one building at a time and adding them to his space vessel. The energy required to do this to whole buildings was quite a bit, but not more than what he would gain when he pushed them into his energy vessel. Any infected in the buildings were separated from them at the same time when they appeared in his vessel.

It didn't take him long to have cleared about seven buildings and have the space he wanted to create his central building on. He took a break to deconstruct what he had gathered in his space vessel. When everything was deconstructed, his energy vessel was roughly a quarter of the way full. With that done, he moved on to laying the foundation and creating the first floor of the central building.

The first floor was basically set up as work spaces for crafting weapons and such for other survivors that would eventually come to live in his base. Once he was satisfied with the first floor, he made a stairwell and moved on to the second floor. He then set the second floor up crafting armors and siege weapons for the vehicles and people that would surely bring their own modes of transportation. Continuing up to the third floor, he made it for sparing purposes so that other survivors could be trained. Alas, there was no free lunch in his settlement. You would either work for the settlement or you would be removed.

The fourth floor was the living quarters for his group. The only ones that were qualified to live in this area were the ones that he deemed worthy to be part of his group or contributed enough to his base. The fifth floor was designed as a look out as well as a sniper post. With the central building done, he went down floor by floor and stocked it with furniture and the necessities needed for crafting or sparing.

When he finally reached the ground floor, he had spent the majority of the energy he had just gained. Since this was the case, he went around to the next buildings on his list that needed to be removed. By the time the sun was setting, his group returned to find a strong looking central command with about a mile radius of empty space around it. The group found him sitting on the front steps of the building with his eyes closed like he was asleep.

"You did all of this in the time we were gone?" James and Kate asked at the same time.

Matt simply nodded without opening his eyes. He seemed to be concentrating and there was a strange aura spreading out from him. He was focusing on the contents of his space vessel as he was experimenting with some thoughts he had. In his energy vessel, he created a condensed sphere of his crystal energy. He then moved that sphere into the space vessel and placed it at the center most spot. With that done, he decided to settle his group in for the night before moving ahead any further.

Before he could even stand up fully, the sound of motorcycles could be heard approaching. It didn't take long for them to arrive and group up in front of the building. The first person to step forward was a large man who was covered in tattoos.

"Nice building ya got there. How about ya go ahead and had it over?" The man said.

Matt gazed around at the group for a moment before shaking his head.

"Any of you that want to live, submit to me or you will suffer the same fate." Matt said as he vanished and reappeared in front of the large man.

The next moment, all they could see was a hand passing through their leaders chest and out the back. That hand was holding a still beating heart that promptly turned blue and vanished. The same thing happened to the rest of the large man as the group stumbled backward off of their bikes and fell flat on the ground.

They all assumed kneeling positions in front of him to show that they would not resist. Their only objective was to stay alive and follow the strong since that would secure the first bit then they could only serve him.

"Set up tents for yourselves and sleep outside for the night. I will make a decision on the rest of you in the morning. Oh, don't try to run away either." Matt said before heading into the building with the others.
