A fierce battle

Zee released three arrows that Razan dodged with minimal effort with a grin on his face, though that grin disappears the moment the arrows make contact with the Earthfiends as they explode and decimate around a third of the monsters behind him in one go.

"My my, " Razan muses.

"You're going to be a nuisance."

Although Zee hadn't seen Razan display any of his power. All of her senses were telling her that he needed to be eliminated if they wanted to survive this battle.

Right now.

She raises her magic power to its peak and fires off a volley of arrows. Each one is a deadly projectile with the power of a ballistic missile and Razan just stares lazily as the large hulking Oni suddenly moves in front of him to block the attack. However, Zee had already moved from the moment she fired the first round of arrows. She rushes the two Oni while Tasha and Jacob move to back her up but they are intercepted by the other two Oni, one male one female. The male Oni has short spikey hair and wields a large sword, while the female has long flowing hair and daggers.

"Naezi, Vaith, Gilras, " Razan calls out.

"Squash the bugs over here while I destroy the loadstone, it shouldn't be too hard."

"Yes Lord Razan." The three of them say in unison.

As Razan walked off towards the direction of the loadstone, Zee suddenly appears behind him bow drawn, ready to blow him to hell when two spheres made of mana explode in the air directly in front of her blocking her vision. She releases a wave of mana which instantly clears the dust in the air just in enough time to avoid the large Oni's fist as it comes smashing down, hard enough to crater the spot she was just standing.

She looks over to where the mana spheres came from and were surprised to see that it was Malcom who fired the attack.

"What are you-"

She starts to say before she quickly dodged another attack from the large Oni.

"Focus puny human," he growls.

"For you face the great Gilras, 3rd lieutenant of the twenty-third battalion of-"

He's suddenly interrupted as several arrows exploded directly in his face, sending him flying back a few feet before he plants his feet on the ground stopping himself completely.

"This is why I like you, humans."

His voice could be heard through the smoke that completely covered his upper body.

"Even when facing a being unimaginably stronger than you, you humans always manage to fight tooth and nail for survival."

He emerged from the smoke with wounds all over his body and half of his face destroyed, the skull and muscle beneath his purple skin exposed to the air.

"But unfortunately for you, you face us,"

Golras snarled as he and the other two Oni Naezi and Vaith release their magical power. Gilras' body begins to heal as his mana shoots through the roof. He lets out a deafening roar into the air but before he could fully recover he's hit dead on with four more arrows and Zee appears above him firing a fifth causing a massive explosion.

Naezi, the female Oni attacked Jacob while Vaith went after Tasha.

Tasha let loose a storm of bullets which Vaith blocks with his large sword. He slashes at Tasha, which she evades, and stands with his chest sticking out.

"IS THAT ALL HUMAN?" he taunts.

"IF SO THIS FIGHT WILL BE MUCH EASIER THAN EXPECTED."

While Tasha and Vaith fight Jacob blocks and dodges the incoming attacks. As he knocks away the dagger aimed at his throat Naezi grins.

"You are much more entertaining than I initially thought human."

She licked the blade of one of her daggers as she looked at Jacob as if she were sizing up her prey.

"Let us see how long you'll last."

"Hold on a minute," Lucille says interrupting the story.

" What happened?" I asked.

"I remember reading about this fight, it was this battle that got commander Osborn promoted to 3rd lieutenant isn't it?"

"That's right," Zee chimes in.

"Honestly speaking if they hadn't been underestimating us the entire time we would have lost."

"How? From what I've read in the reports the Oni, as well as the Earthfiends, were annihilated while your battalion suffered minimal casualties."

"Yeah, that's only because we held off the Oni while the rest of the battalion handled the Earthfiends," I tell her.

"Wait a minute. What do you mean WE?" Lucille looked at me in shock.

"Oni are high ranking demons capable of taking out veteran soldiers and you're telling me you fought against one as an eight-year-old child and won?"

"He didn't fight just any old Oni," Zee said patting me on the back.

"He was the one that killed Razan."

"WHAT!?" Lucille's jaw drops as she looks from me to Zee and back to me again.

"You're kidding right?"

"I mean, technically my older brother Kevin and I fought him together but yeah it's true."

"The fuck? You were an eight-year-old kid how in the world did you manage to kill a high-level Oni commander?

"Uhh, I would also like to know," Zee said.

"You mean you don't already?" Lucille asked.

" No, after we dealt with the lieutenants we rushed to the loadstone as fast as we could, by the time we got there Razan was already dead and Malcolm's mana was going berserk."

She explained.

"What the hell happened that day?" she asked me.

(Ten years ago)

I cut down one Earthfiend after another as I follow Kevin to the load time.

"YOU REMEMBER WHAT ZEE SAID RIGHT!?" Kevin shouted over the sounds of battle in the air.

"IF IT'S GOING AFTER THE BIG GLOWY THING WE HAVE TO KILL IT!?" I shout back my little limbs flailing as I run after him.

"THAT'S RIGHT BUDDY, LOOK THERE IT IS."

He points to a large pink stone glowing brightly In the middle of the encampment, there were already a large number of soldiers defending the loadstone but at the same time, the number of Earthfiends was steadily raising.

Kevin and I jump into the fry and I dice anything that doesn't look human.

There are a few soldiers that are downed but using my small frame to my advantage I quickly deal with the attacking monsters with ease and provide a backup by targeting the weak points on the bodies of monsters that were giving soldiers a hard time allowing them a chance to finish the creatures off. Kevin moves around the loadstone in circles keeping a tight perimeter around it, as he began to move at incredible speeds he sliced through monster after monster. Eventually, a circle formed in the dirt around the loadstone created by Kevin's footsteps which began to glow bright blue as he charged it with mana he stopped on the outside of the circle and slammed his sword into the ground, and creates a protective barrier around the loadstone.

"Now that this is taken care of, "

He said as he pulled his sword out of the ground and pointed it at the incoming wave of monsters.

"We can have some fun!"

He disappears and reappears directly in front of the monsters and starts shredding them to pieces. He cuts down dozens of Earthfiends in an instant and moves on to the next group, as he moves he disappears and every time he appears a monster or two is killed his body flickering all around the battlefield.

As we fought and slowly reduced the number of monsters the soldiers gaped in awe as they watched us battle.

" How can they move like that?"

"They're just kids."

"What kind of training do you have to do to be this strong as a child?"

"Can't even tell which ones are the monsters anymore."

They spoke amongst themselves but I could tell that they were grateful for the support. unexpectedly I feel several extremely powerful beings coming from underground.

"KEVIN!?" I shout out.

He slashes through an earthfiend and in a flash reduces two more to a pile of ribbons. He looks over to me concerned but relaxes when he sees I'm unharmed.

"WHAT'S UP?" he calls out as he continues killing monsters.

"I THINK MOM AND DAD MIGHT BE IN TROUBLE," I tell him as I decapitate a monster and slice the throat of another.

"GO HELP THEM, WE GOT THIS."

"OKAY"

"BE CAREFUL."

"OKAY"

I Rush off in the direction of mom and dad's mana and I can tell that they're in a fight themselves, they're surrounded by hundreds of earthfiends and the mana belonging to the monsters are disappearing by the dozens.

"Wooow everyone is so strong," I say to myself.

"I wonder If I'll be that strong one day."

As I get to the battle the four powerful beings appear and they're terrible demons. They had black hair, black horns, and purple skin. Dad told me about them I think he called them Oni?

He told me they were scary demons and he was right. They were really strong. I don't want to fight them.

The one with the white streak in his hair said something and Mom's friend attacked him.

"Yikes."

I say to myself after seeing the number of monsters she took out in a single blow. Though she wasn't able to kill the Oni. She launches another attack that's blocked by the large one and moves to blast them again as she does, mom and dad go to back her up but are stopped by the other two.

The white-haired one says something again before he starts to walk in the direction of the loadstone and even though my heart was racing and hands were trembling I still run to intercept him and as I get closer I see moms friend appear behind him and ready her bow as her mana suddenly increases to fire a killing blow.

The Oni with the white streak in his hair was acting strangely even though he knew the attack was coming he didn't move an inch instead his body was covered in a blood-red aura. This aura took on the shape of pointed spikes and shot at mom's friend before she could fire her arrows. But for some reason she didn't react to them I formed two mana spheres and launched them at the black spikes which exploded on contact and created a cloud of dust. Mom's friend releases a wave of mana instantly clearing it away just in time to dodge the large one. She looks at me with surprise.

"What are you-" she says before she has to dodge another attack from the large Oni.

As they fight the one with the white streak looks over at me.

" So you're the one that stopped my attack?"

He studied me for a second before shaking his head and laughing.

"Why am I even considering this? you couldn't have!" He laughed

"You're but a human child, the weakest of the weak." He sneered as that blood-red aura once again engulfed his body and those spikes appeared once more.

" Die."
