2 The meeting

After finishing the call, Nate got up and went around the house preparing his pack: a bag with 2 changes of clothes and a backpack with his laptop, chargers and other personal items.

Grabbing his car key from the dinner table, he left the house and hopped up the car. For the last 4 years, he lived in the USA. In the last 3, he lived in city N. Inside the vehicle, looking back at the house, a mixture of feelings welled up inside him. First of all, he felt sad. Sad about moving cities again, about leaving his friends behind. Then, he felt afraid. Afraid of the unsure of the future, if the gamble he was taking would be worth it. But, nonetheless, he felt really excited. A chance to work with the game he loved, to compete and enter the annals of history. Just thinking about it, made him grin, from ear to ear.

And then, Nate started driving, prepared for a long trip: he would go through more than 200 miles, from city N. to city M., where the Night Hounds Org. was located.

...

On the next day, Nate woke up early in his hotel bed. He took a shower and went out for breakfast. Getting back to his hotel room, he grabbed the laptop from the backpack and headed out, ready for the meeting.

His appointment was only at 9 a.m., but at 8:30 Nate was already there waiting. 9am sharp, someone came to the waiting room to fetch him, bringing him to a meeting room, whit 4 man already inside.

...CHANGE OF POV...

At the head of the table, sat a tall bald man, seemingly on his forties, who, for some reason, reminded him of Jason Statham. That would be the Org.'s owner.

At his right, sat a young man with the same capillaries issues. Looking at their similar faces, Nate concluded they must be related in some way. That would be the VP.

To the left of the owner, sat a blond with social outfit and a serious expression on his face. That would be the Org.'s general manager.

Lastly, to the left of the GM, sat a short,l old man wearing glasses, who exuded a peaceful aura. That would be the Financial Manager.

After finishing the introductions and pleasantries, the owner, who introduced himself as John Stones, started asking me to say what where my strong characteristics, and why we should hire me.

Knowing full well that they had already read my curriculum and probably researched about me before the meeting, I tried to say what could not be read by them.

"First of all, I want to say that my lack of experience as a Glory's coach doesn't mean I am not capable of handling this team and the pressure. After all, as you all were able to see, I've won a title while coaching, even if it was in CS:GO. Also, I want to say that I am a avid reader of anything that is tactics or strategies related, even if there's nothing to do with Glory at all.

For example, after studying football tactics for years, I think there's a lot from that well experienced and researched field that can help me coach a Glory Team."

"Well said" commented the GM. "But that doesn't change the fact that you have never worked with Glory before, and we would be assuming a great risk by hiring you. So, how can you convince us that you are the right person to the job, besides your lack of experience?"

"I cannot" I said, surprising them "In a situation like this, all I can do is talk about my qualities and thoughts about the game, but, in the end, is up to you to analyse all of this and make a choice about taking, or not, this risk. However, I must remind you, that the greater the risk, the greater the reward in the end."

After this, the meeting continued for a whole 2 hours, where I talked mostly about my views of the game and about what a coach should and shouldn't do. In the end, they called for a 2 hours break, seemingly satisfied with the meeting.

...

Walking out of the building, you could see a distracted Nate getting inside his car. Driving for 20 minutes, he found a simple restaurant, where he parked and went inside for lunch. After eating and having a hour to process his thoughts, he seemed a lot calmer, which was obvious by the natural expression on his face.

He payed for the meal and left, heading back to the same building he had left a little more than 1 hour ago.

Back at the waiting room, he sat, waiting for a decision that would change, forever, his life.
