Amanda Smith opened her eyes and saw the man sleeping beside her.

His soft black hair fell gently across his face, softening the usually sharp lines and making him appear much more gentle. He was still asleep, long eyelashes casting fan-shaped curves against his eyelids, and his lips were slightly pursed, giving his sleeping face a somewhat childlike look.

Remembering what had happened last night, a sweet smile spread across Amanda's delicate face. She turned to watch the man's face, feeling joy swell in her heart.

Samuel Johnson was the man she had loved for fifteen years. To be mutually in love and to have things progress this way made her very happy.

Suddenly, the man's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and his eyes slowly opened.

"Samuel..." Amanda said shyly, but before her smile could fully bloom, it was interrupted by the man's voice.

"Why are you here?!" Samuel Johnson bolted up in the bed, looking at Amanda on the bed as if he had seen a ghost. He was not inexperienced; he could remember very well what had taken place last night in his drunken state.

Amanda's lips moved, but she was at a loss for words. The man had already briskly dressed and, like avoiding the plague, he simply skirted around her and left the room.

Left alone in the room, Amanda collapsed on the ground, her fists slowly clenching.
