Ten thousand years ago, Ye Tian was just a high school student—until a fateful surgery hurled him into a world of cultivation, where he became the feared Heavenly Demon, a name cursed by immortals and dreaded by demons. After countless lifetimes of slaughter and a desperate struggle against the Heavens themselves, Ye Tian finally returns to his former world... only to find it is not what it once seemed. His arrival triggers a global awakening—unleashing mysterious powers, mutating animals, and driving humans mad. With society collapsing into chaos and zombie-like creatures roaming the streets, Ye Tian’s quiet reunion with his family is shattered. Faced with a new kind of apocalypse, he must once again awaken the Heavenly Demon within to protect those he loves and uncover the dark secrets that bind both worlds. Will Ye Tian reclaim the life he lost, or will he lose everything once more?
All eyes turned toward Ye Tian as the room fell silent, waiting for his response. Ye Tian, however, had anticipated this moment from the moment he left the room.
Feeling the curious stares of his family, he smiled slightly and raised two fingers in front of Dr. Lan.
"Firstly, Director, I want to thank you for calming the situation outside," he began.
"I'm not entirely sure why or what you did, but in a normal scenario, considering what I just did to the owner's son, it wouldn't have been surprising if security had stormed the reception immediately. Yet, none of that happened."
He continued, "Apart from the nervous expressions of the hospital staff, there was no sign of security or police."
"Such a situation could only occur with the intervention of someone in a relatively high position."
"And you, Dr. Lan, are the only person who approached us after everything."
Ye Tian's gaze bore into Dr. Lan's eyes, trying to glean any hidden intentions from the man's expression.
Although Dr. Lan had saved them from further trouble, Ye Tian was not naive enough to believe someone would do so without a reason—especially for a family as ordinary as his.
Dr. Lan chuckled, a hearty laugh that made his gray hair and beard flutter slightly.
"Amazing! Are all high school students these days as sharp as you?" he grinned.
"You are absolutely correct, but you've got one thing wrong—I didn't do it expecting anything in return. I had my own reasons for suppressing the matter."
Interesting, thought Dr. Lan, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
I only intended to use this opportunity to suppress Old Chen and his son's faction, but who would have thought I'd meet such an intriguing young man?
He took another look at Ye Tian, and the mysterious youth in front of him began to seem more and more pleasing to the eye.
Meanwhile, Ye Tian's mother, Li Mei, his father, Ye Sheng, and his sister, Ye Ling, watched the conversation unfold with confusion.
"Mom, what is Brother talking about with this uncle?" Ye Ling whispered.
"Did Brother have surgery on his brain instead of his stomach?"
Sticking out her tongue playfully, Ye Ling, who was seventeen—just a year younger than Ye Tian—couldn't help but scrutinize her brother.
However, before she could continue her teasing, a set of knuckles rapped her head, causing her to wince in pain.
Knock!
"Ouch! Who dares hit this young miss! Don't let me know, otherwis—!"
Being cut off by the pain, Ye Ling looked up only to see Ye Tian smiling at her with his hand still raised, ready to deliver another knock.
"Now tell me again, who had surgery on their brain, not their stomach?" Ye Tian teased.
Ye Ling seeing her brother like this pouted, quickly hiding behind their father. "Dad! Brother is bullying me!"
A move that made everyone in the room unknowingly smile
"Haha, son, don't hit your sister like that. As for us, don't mind us," Ye Sheng chuckled. "You and the doctor can talk all you want; just explain everything to us when we get home."
Patting Ye Tian on the back, Ye Sheng sensed that something was off with his son, so he decided to give him some space.
After giving Ye Tian one last glance, he guided Li Mei and Ye Ling out of the hospital. Ye Tian nodded to his father, signaling he would explain everything once he returned home.
As the room emptied, time seemed to stretch on. For nearly five minutes, Ye Tian and Dr. Lan sat in silence, simply staring at each other. Finally, Dr. Lan felt the need to break the stalemate.
Sigh… Young people these days are truly frightening. Even an old man like me can't read them anymore, he thought.
At the ripe age of 57, with a full head of gray hair and a matching beard, Dr. Lan couldn't help but feel there was something distinctly unusual about Ye Tian.
Even if he couldn't determine how the young man had suddenly healed or gained such inhuman strength, he was determined to find out what made him so unique.
"All right, young man," Dr. Lan finally spoke. "Where were we? Oh, yes, about Chen Fan. Don't worry about him. "
"For a long time, I've been trying to get him and his father out of the hospital with the help of a few other shareholders.
Unfortunately, because they hold the most shares, I haven't been able to. But after this incident, both father and son are finished."
Dr. Lan's smile widened with satisfaction. "Now, tell me, what is the second thing you wanted to say?"
Ye Tian shook his head, reading Dr. Lan's thoughts. "The second thing is that regarding how I got better or stronger—I won't tell you," he stated firmly.
"Don't bother asking, and don't try to investigate. Otherwise, I can't guarantee you won't get hurt."
"In fact, you might end up in a worse situation than Chen Fan or that kid today."
Though Ye Tian's face retained a calm smile, the weight of his words settled heavily in the room.
Dr. Lan suddenly felt as if a massive mountain was pressing down on him, like he was being drowned in a sea of corpses.
He had felt a similar murderous intent in the reception earlier, but experiencing it again so close, he could hardly believe that such killing intent was coming from the young man before him.
Just as Dr. Lan was about to pass out, Ye Tian abruptly withdrew the pressure and stood up from the bed.
"Don't worry, Director. Think of this not as a threat but as a warning." He smiled
"Here, have my number. If you ever find yourself in trouble, I'll help you once as a result of your kindness today and for taking care of the trash."
Afterwards, Ye Tian then looked down at his surgical gown in embarrassment.
"For now, I need to go home and meet my family, so I'd appreciate it if one of the nurses could bring me my pre-surgery clothes."
