Generation X - the origin of Yuji Amanda

Ever wondered how living in a world enclosed by walls feels like?

I do, literally.

When the time comes, where living inside walls becomes a necessity, in my world, inside is where you'll feel safe... at ease. And when it disappears, it won't be easy to feel safer than it used to be.

My name is Yuji Amanda and this story will show how my life changed because of a certain event, in a world where life is already not going my way, for better or worse. But regardless, there is only one thing that runs through my mind every time.

As Yuji walked through the school courtyard at "new-gen academy", where Yuji spends his second year in high school, he hears gossips from random students nearby.

"Hey did you hear?" "They said the special forces are in a pinch right now, so they might not be able to send support to our city wall for the time being".

"I don't think it's that bad, our walls defense isn't that bad right?"

"Yeah but... you see... They said.."

As Yuji listens to the gossips, he wasn't able to notice the other male student, who was also preoccupied with talking to someone, walking towards him and...

BAM!

The two students bumped into each other and resulted in both of them backing off.

Yuji and the other student had eye contact, as Yuji was preparing for a possible conflict.

"Oh sorry, are you ok?" the student said.

Taking Yuji by surprise he replied, "Oh no no no it was my fault for spacing out, sorry". As Yuji walked away he said "bye".

"hey isn't that the weakling?" said the person right next to the male Yuji bumped into.

The male student had dark black hair and eyes.

"Weakling?" the dark-haired student said.

"Yeah, despite being injected, he doesn't gain anything by it".

"I see, how unfortunate".

"Heck, yeah if the rumors about our city getting breached were true..."

"Then he most likely won't survive huh?"

Yuji continued to walk, as he hears them from a distance.

"It's not that I have no ability it's just because...my ability... Isn't that useful"

Yuji mumbled to himself.

The world that Yuji is living in right now can be called or related to an apocalypse.

Many years ago creatures called Akuma came into the world and started killing humans and infect them, turning them into fellow Akuma.

Akumas are bloodthirsty creatures which look like dead mutated humans who kill people and turns them into Akumas, by injecting their infectious blood into a body, can be dead or alive, usually through biting.

Then the person injected with Akuma's blood turns.

There are a few steps before a person turns into an Akuma, first, dying, second, sudden random movements(usually takes time before actually turning into an Akuma), third, sudden over growing veins and thirst for blood, along with darkened eyes with glowing red pupils, then becomes a full Akuma.

Some Akuma's gain unusual abilities like inhuman speed, increase in size along with hardened flesh, imbalanced size of arms, etc...

Since Akumas have different traits, humans separated them into different classes, in order to define how dangerous a certain Akuma is.

for example, D classes are the one's with no special ability and are not too much of a threat if in small numbers, and C classes are the same but a little stronger and faster than the D class,

and the B class are the ones with threatening abilities like enhanced instincts or growth of a certain or unusual body part(for example an enlarged extra hand growing from the back of the body) which can help an Akuma kill and defend itself, and class A is pretty much just a more dangerous version of a B class.

However, there are Akumas with strength FAR superior to the others. It was said that those creatures are the ones that bring the downfall of humanity. Because of their monstrous strength, advantageous abilities, and sheer intelligence. It makes them much more dangerous to confront. Unlike the other Akumas who is purely filled with bloodlust, these Akumas knows how to value their lives, and knows how to take advantage of their monstrous strength and abilities.

they are said to be the current greatest threat to humanity. Humans call them Arch demons.

To survive these situation humans made a drug which amplifies human strength, giving the ability to use specialized weapons that, normally, a human won't be able to use.

For example, gloves that create explosions wherever you're facing your hand, normally, a normal human would have had his arm broken by taking a direct impact of the explosion to the arm, but with the help of the drug called amplifiers, using such weapons casually is possible.

With the newly acquired strength of the humans they started to build 15 story tall walls surrounding certain cities in order to maintain a civilized world for humans to continue living in.

After a few years of humanity's stand against Akumas, a new generation of humans began, where some humans gained incredible abilities from being injected, like gaining super fast reflexes, inhumane speed of arms and legs, and some even have superior strength than the others.

Humans also separate them by ranks and classes such as A, B, and C to define their strength and capabilities which can be used to help humanity.

And in rare cases, certain people gain the ability that twists the logic and nature of the world such as create fires out of thin air, produce electricity from their body, gives them the ability to telekinetically move metals, etc... And as for their strength, they still each have different levels, but the people who have those kinds of unique abilities are still placed at the S tier. Meaning their strength and ability is still superior to the other classes A and below.

They are currently the hope of humanity called generation X.

Even with the existence of the gen X, it was said that 1 powerful S class wouldn't still be enough to bring down a single archdemon.

However, a group of them can stand a chance against one of those monsters in certain situations. Which makes the S classes admired by many.

And ironically Yuji was being mistreated because of having no ability in his school.

Suddenly, a voice came saying

"hey Yuujiii!"

It was a high-pitched feminine voice that attracted the attention of many around the school courtyard, not just Yuji, making Yuji shocked.

"Hey did you not see me?" the female said, patting Yuji at his shoulder.

"E... Erina!" Yuji replied in surprise of seeing his friend in the school courtyard.

"I saw you walking around the corner earlier I thought you saw me", said Erina.

Yuji, quickly regaining his composure, "sorry I must have missed you," he said in reply.

"Well since I saw you, I thought I might as well say hi. I've got nothing else to do anyway," she said with a bright smile on her face.

"So you're not getting your ability tested here today?" Yuji asked.

"I'm going to get tested today, but not here, the faculty says they have a different testing facility prepared for my ability test" Erina replied.

"Well I guess that's an S class for you," Yuji said

"What?, it's not like I'm going to burn the whole facility down or anything... for the record, I got full control over my ability," Erina said in a complaining manner.

Yuji smiled as they both started to make their way to the entrance of the school building, leading to the main hall.

Erina Ainsworth is a half Japanese blonde girl and the only S class in her school. Making her practically the strongest. And on top of that, she is a charmingly beautiful girl who is popular among the students of New-gen Academy and is Yuji's close friend since childhood.

As the two friends entered the building, Yuji felt the eyes of some people staring at him dreadfully and gossiping about him.

"Hey isn't that the guy they called weakling?"

"No way would miss Erina be with someone like that." " Miss Erina is just too nice to everyone huh?". As the gossips from the people continue, Yuji was being level-headed, as if he's used to dealing with this kind of discrimination, and as for Erina.

"Uggghh why are people here like this" Erina whispered, clearly irritated, "it's not like the whole world runs on special abilities you know," she said in an irritated manner with a sad look on her face.

"How ironic," Yuji thought to himself.

While Erina and Yuji were walking, Yuji heard a faint noise.

Because of Yuji's cautiousness and good hearing he could already tell that the sound was something being thrown with force.

Yuji quickly turns around and placed his hand in front of his face then...BAM!

A strong sound echoed from the halls as Yuji catches a ball-shaped object, almost hitting his head.

"This is....a training ball!" Yuji thought to himself being surprised.

"It's heavy and has a little protective soft layer as it's skin... but still if something this heavy we're to hit me on the head... I'd probably be in trouble...".

Erina suddenly had a blank face, but to Yuji, it was obvious that she was holding back her emotions.

"WOOPS!, it slipped from my hands... How careless of me." said a male student who was coming from the direction where the ball is from, as he heads towards Yuji and Erina.

As the male student gets close to them Yuji observed him. The student was a tall male student who had a weird rectangular face. At least what he seems from other people.

"Oh sorry about that miss Erina," he said, while completely ignoring Yuji's presence. "I almost caused you trouble there haha".

As Erina privately gripped her hands behind her, "excuse me but.... I think your barking at the wrong tree here," she said.

As she tried to conceal her anger, with little idea, she let out a face showing clearly that she was irritated and angry.

The male student seemed a little shocked as he was lost for words. Then suddenly.

"It's ok erina" as Yuji handed down the training ball to the said student.

"He didn't hit me anyway so it's fine". Yuji let out a faint smile at Erina as he drops the ball at the student's open hand.

Erina quickly reclaims her composure.

"Hey, you" the rectangular faced student suddenly confronted Yuji and said, "injecting yourself before coming here, that was a smart move. You never know when disaster might hit a weakling like you".

"Though I thought being injected does not do ANYTHING to him at all".the rectangular faced student thought to himself. "Were the rumors exaggerated?...".

"Yeah your right..." Yuji replied. " Since I'm not like you guys I really need to be cautious all the time since I'm more prone to danger". Despite what happened Yuji did not show any signs of anger and just had a faint smiling face as he said those words.

"But let me correct you though," Yuji turned around to the student and said "I....didn't inject myself". As he said with a blank expression on his face. "After all it doesn't do anything to me at all" he said with a faint smile.

"Ohhh...?". Said by the rectangular faced student with a suspicious tone.

"Ding dong, dong ding"

Suddenly the school announcement bell rings,

putting a stop to what might be considered a conversation between Yuji and the others.

"Attention all students," the school's speaker said declaring an announcement "please proceed to your designated testing areas, the testing is about to start.".

Just after the announcement the rectangular faced student turned around and made his way to a group of people who were heading to the southern part of the school.

"Thank God I'm in the west," Yuji said with relief.

"But I'm on the east, so we're really far apart" Erina replied with a worried face.

"don't worry about me Erina, I faced more dangerous situations than that remembered?" Yuji said, trying to relieve Erina.

"Yeah your right..." Erina said, taking away her worried face. "BUT, if you ever get into something difficult don't hesitate to run to me ok?" Erina said with a straight face.

"Sure... Of course," Yuji replied.

"Well then" as Erina turns around she said " Be careful ok?"

"Yeah, see yah," Yuji replied as he said goodbye

"All right, without erina, I might get picked on by more people if I continue to go through the main hall." Yuji thought to himself, "I guess I'll take a detour.".

meanwhile...

At the edge of the city, where the walls stand.

destruction... flames scattered everywhere, broken buildings, and a pile of dead people scattered across the road. Being surrounded by all the havoc, a single person in a dark green uniform crawled his way to a box that seems to be a communication tool.

"Hello...Hello." as the person said hoping for a quick response. after a few seconds of distortion from the device.

"Hello," a voice suddenly emerged.

"HELLO! THIS..this..is..." the person in green uniform replied, from his overly hyped voice suddenly dropping to a pessimistic state, he said" this is sergeant Gabe from division 1 of exterminators.

"What seems to be the problem Sergeant?" the voice form the device asked.

"It's happening.." he said in a calm yet obviously teary voice as if he was about to cry." the worst we expected is happening and we weren't prepared for it.."

" Sergeant?" the voice replied in a worried manner.

while talking to the box, Gabe sees a massive creature emerging at a large hole from the distanced wall in front of him.

suddenly regaining his composure he said " prepare everyone!" he said as if he was in a hurry.

the creature sees Gabe

"tell them that the worst possible scenario is about to take place!"

the massive creature with overgrown flesh and massive yet skinny skull  comes closer to him.

"A breach has taken place"

the creature stops in front of Gabe.

"Archdemon.... code name 005" as Gabe looks up at the creature about 50 feet tall, which raised its right hand.

"GLUTTON!" he screamed as the raised hand from the creature began to go down very quickly.

silence.
