Time passed by in the blink of an eye.The hot summer of the whirlpool village passed and fall followed where the trees slowly lost their leaves until there was none left to lose. The whole village was getting ready for the freezing winter that grace the land of water every year. Some were buying heating seals from the ninja stores while the poorer folk in the village opted to use the more primitive method of cutting down some of the trees for firewood by using their trusty axes.

While all this hustle and bustle was happening in the village. There was one that was unbothered by it. One that was often called a training maniac by his classmates and a genius by his teachers but if it was up to him. He would call himself a hard worker. For talent without hard work was akin to an unpolished diamond left in the mud.

Shiro stood in a huge clearing that was littered with the fallen hairs of the huge oak trees that surrounded the training ground. The thick layer of leaves on the ground covered up the hundreds of scars that were littered across the ground. The boy in question seemed to be waiting for something. His eyes on full alert looking at the branches of the Oak trees. It wasn't long before what the boy was waiting for came.

The wind Howled once again for the umteemth time today causing the leaves on the ork trees to loosen up and fall on to the training ground. Many of the leaves moved to the place where Shiro was standing.

As Shiro let go of the breath he was holding. He closed his eyes. Spreading his senses outward, trying to feel everything around him. Trying to become one with the world. One with nature. If someone was looking at him from afar he would see a boy making slight adjustments to his body in order to avoid the leaves that were falling on to him. The most amazing thing was not the fact the boy seemed to be succeeding in avoiding the countless leaves that were falling in his direction but the fact that there was no rigidness in his moves. They were fluid like water. Smooth like butter. There was a certain grace and a charm to his movements that would awe anyone that saw him just now.

Thirty seconds passed and there were no more leaves in the air.

* HOOSH*

Shiro took in a loud audible intake of air.

" looks like i'm still not able to do it properly " Shiro muttered out loud as he reached to the top of his head, taking a leaf that was resting on his hair. Looking at the leaf in his hand he couldn't help but think about the past few months.

Six months had passed since he joined the academy. The materials they taught, the physical exercise they made him do, it didn't matter. He took to everything like a fish in the water. There was simply no one in his batch that gave him a challenge anymore. Be it the kids from the ninja families or the kids from the civilian background. Non could put up a decent fight against him both academically or even physically. He was the top dog of their class and for the first time in both of his life he was finally number one in something. The serotonin boost he got from this achievement gave shiro a sense of euphoria that could only otherwise be achieved by doing drugs. The years he spent in the library and training had without a doubt paid off and he couldn't be happier. He had more stamina than any of his classmates and his hits were harder than any of them. Something which the teachers had definitely noticed judging by the fact he was being moved up Three years. So in the next semester which was to start in the coming Spring he would be put in a class with the ten or eleven year olds. Kids who were four to five years older than him.

Kids that were going to be taller, heavier and more experienced in combat and the ways of ninja than him. This was the main reason why he was in this field every day for the past three months trying to dodge the falling leaves. He was trying to awaken something that was laying dormant within him. Something that he should have acquired alongside this body of his.

HAKI.

Or to be more specific. The Observation Haki.

The Haki which was said to be the most common out of all three. The one that granted its user the ability to not only sense the presence of others around him but to even allow the user to predict the movement of their opponent.

This was the reason why he wanted it. Well, that and it being the easiest thing to awaken for him right now.

' Why can't I do it ? I can feel it but I just can't quite grasp it. It's almost like I can see it but I can't touch it. ' Shiro thought to himself as he crushed the leaf he was holding in frustration. Turning it into small flakes that scattered in the wind.

*sigh*

" Looks like today was another failure. " Shiro muttered to himself as he looked towards the horizon. The sun had started to set and temperatures had already started to plummet.

' Let's go home then. I'm sure mom is going to get worried if i dont go back soon. ' Shiro thought to himself as he walked towards his house with a disheartened look on his face. He could only hope that he would awaken the damn Observation Haki soon. The only reason why he didn't bother trying to awaken it before was because it was pointless to do so as his chakra had not awakened then. After all, truth himself had said that his powers were tied to his chakra in this world.

Unbeknownst to him, Shiro was not alone in the training ground like he thought he was. Sitting on one of the branches hidden from sight were three cloaked figures who wore animal masks. The shorter figure in the middle wore a cat mask while the taller two were wearing Oni masks. Apart from that they had one distinct feature about them. They all had blood red hair. Especially the one in the middle who had hair longer than the other two.

" He is interesting isnt he? He looked very graceful when he moved but why was he dancing like that with his eyes closed. Especially when its so cold outside. That boy is for sure going to catch a cold. " The one in the middle said in a voice that was undoubtedly feminine.

If shiro had heard that then there was no doubt that he would have died from embarrassment and given her the holy middle finger.

" Princess.... I don't think the boy was dancing….. I believe he was training. After all he wasn't moving randomly but doing so to avoid the leaves that were about to fall on him. " One of the Oni figures said to the one in the middle.

" But why ? How is that going to help him? " The princess asked.

" I don't know. Even us Anbus don't train like that. Maybe he was just trying to sharpen his senses or maybe he was just playing around. But that kid does look very familiar. I wondered where I had seen him. Maybe he might be one of our potential recruits. " One of the Oni Anbu said to the princess.

" Is that so? What a weird kid. I wonder if I'm going to see him again. " The Princess muttered under her breath as she looked at the backside of Shiro, who was slowly disappearing into the dead forest. .
