Near and Far

((3rd Person POV))

Y/n and Finn returned to the tree house with a huge adorable smile on their faces, knowing Y/n revereted back to her human form.

As they were about to twist the door knob, Fionna opened it first.

"Welcoke back Finn! I have something to tell you!" Fionna with her excited expression, she held one of Finn's hand into hers

"What is it Fionna?"

"The book it... OH MY GLOB IS THAT YOU Y/N?! You're back! Welcome back" After noticing Y/n's presence Fionna took her into a tight hug.

"Must be the reason why the sentences appeared. The curse was broken!" Fionna shoved the book into Finns chest as excited as she can be.

Pages in the book were filled with instructions, tips and spells. It is in fact the book of magic. Finn skimmed through it, page by page and Y/n has been peeking through what Finn is reading.

"There it is! The spell to bring us back into our original world" Finn exclaimed with a hint of joy, too much joy however, Y/n has a weird fake smile on her lips, for she's the only individual who knows the truth about herself, not even Finn, Fionna, Jake, Cake nor Marceline kmew about. The fact that she lives in a different dimension, some place where happiness is not permanent.

"I see" She replied.

"Let's do it now!" Finn took a short glance at Y/n but she shook her head from left to right, indicating disapproval.

"Why not?" Finn asked.

"We should say goodbye to our friends here first, right?" Y/n's words sounded like a request instead of a question.

"You're right! Lets go !" Finn agreed without letting his happiness wear off.

The two visits their friends one by one, except for MarshalLee which is holding a very huge concert tour around the land of AAA.

They bid their goodbyes and send each friends a lovely gift with some items to remind others about their existence.

"Goodbye Lumpy space prince" Finn said his last farewell to his last friend on the list before holding Y/n's hand as he pull her along the way. Even if the two seems intimate, Y/n never thought of it as something more than friendship ,since she doesn't like to expect impossible things, such as Finn falling in love with her. She will remain intact at the term friends, even after what Finn said when she was a hideous frog. Y/n believes those words are meant to be a confession of responsibility, not of a love interest.

Finn suddenly intertwined their fingers as he slowed his steps down.

"Hey Y/n. Do you want to wait for Marshal to return before we head home?" Finn looked into Y/n's eyes with worry. She never had a clue that Finn already endures the feeling of love and possible rejection, like Y/n, Finn also have doubts regarding Y/n's feelings about him. For some reason Finn can't provide the exact confession towards her, the words 'I love you' three easy words yet difficult to say.

All they knew, the other person loves another individual.

"I don't think he'll allow me to leave" Y/n rubs the back of her head, faking a smile.

"Are you prepared? To go back in the land of OOO, I mean?"

"Well yeah. That's where you live right?"

"Yes we will continue to live happily in the land of OOO. I promise to be nicer Y/n."

As they head back into Fionna's tree house, a huge light filled the house , scary enough for the two to run panicking in the house's direction, in case something malicious barged in, harming Fionna nd cake. But no, the light came from Fionna and Cake,

themselves. They've been trying the spells.

"Nice timing. We're practicing the spell to bring you back into your dimension, but us we kept returning to this exact spot. Maybe cause this world is our original dimension. So probably if you both tried this spell, it would be different" Fionna said with excitement in her entire figure.

Fionna then started reciting the spells without anyone noticing it, she finished chanting when a weird light slowly consumes the dark room.

"W-wait! Finn I haven't told you yet!!" Y/n said in a hurry since she knew after the light shine on them, they will return to their worlds. Which is in fact might seperate the two apart.l according to what Y/n's thinking.

"What do you mean Y/n?"

"Finn, Land of OOO is not my original realm! I came from the world called Earth and it's a very sad place! This spell would not return me in the land of OOO. Finn!" Y/n said in a fast manner as the light shines on half of their bodies.

"What?! Wait! There must be a way to stop the spell" Finn asked Fionna immediately.

"I'm sorry Finn but it says whoever is around the chanter, even if the other runs away, the light would still follow" Fionna answered.

"I-im sorry Finn. I never knew the spell casting date would be advanced" Y/n said giggling softly as Finn took her in a tight hug, with a slight annoyance in his face.

"Finn catch!" Fionna threw the book towards Finn, luckily he caught it.

"Y/n. This is very annoying, I can't even tell you everything that I wanted to say." Finn said in between their hug.

"Sorry Finn. I don't think we'll meet again. I should have told you earlier." Y/n planted her face towards Finns chest.

"It's alright Y/n. I'll figure out a way to bring you back cause you're the only person meant for me. You traveled all the way here to meet me. Now is my time to meet you. So Y/n.. I love" Even with Finns fast way of talking, the spell still cuts the scene. The strange brightness covered the entire place, they all feel a bit nauseous.

Finn and Y/n teleported back to their original dimension. Finn in the land of OOO alone, sitting in the middle of the yellow flower bed, where Y/n and him used to hangout. Clutching the book in his hand as he lay down on flowers, reaching out into the sky, sighing his thoughts off.

((Y/n POV))

I open my eyes to see where I am.. I'm back, the place was the same like how I last remember it to be. Pictures of my mother are hanging on the walls, book of spells filled the shelves, on tables there are a few herbs and test tubes. Reminds me of all the moments with my mom. I miss her, I thought I've forgotten about this pain since I met that dream, dream friends and dream Finn. Yet it was all just a dream anyway.

"Ouch!" Sadly I just realized the wound on my wrist. Yeah I forgot how depressed I was back then. I even carved a small cut on my wrist. How dumb I must be. That's what I usually am.

Turns out that dream of mine changed me. I no longer cry , all thanks to him, Finn the human. It feels so real though, I can even remember Finn's scent, his warmth and his silky blonde hair. I giggled at the thought. Yet still hoping it weren't a dream.

Soon my wrist started throbbing. The wound looks pretty fresh so I immediately grabbed the first aid kit, curing the small cut. Sure glad it didn't affect some of my veins.

"How idiotic" I said out of frustration.

After clearong out my wound, I continued my day by cleaning the floor and all the items on the shelf. Sadly I'll have to do the laundry either. Not to mention the fridge is filled with Rotten vegetables. How can it be rotten?! I just transferred my crops a day before that suicidal incident.

"I guess I'll have to go harvesting"

My words like bubbles popping after witnessing most of my crops rotten. The field is filled with rotten vegetables.

Meaning to say I f**ed up! I mean, I was asleep for an entire month or something!

Hurriedly I took one of my mom's book to recite a spell as I control my spiritual energy while praying. Words are all muffled and indescribable for half an hour till I finished one long spell.

The freshly breeze welcomes me outside and the amazing sight calmed me down. All the vegetables were fresh again.

After hours of harvesting , I planted another batch of rooted vegetables for next month's storage.

Exhaustion hits me as I lay down at my own dusty bed, can't afford to clean it right now. My tiredness forbids me to stand. I fell asleep afterwards.

"Y/n is that you?" A familiar voice. A familiar face. A familiar hug.

"Finn?"

"Yes it's me! I mastered one of the books spell. Now I'm able to contact you! I'm so glad" Those familiar eyes, crying for my existence, familiar voice quivering to communicate and that familiar lips placed on my forehead. It was all too familiar that even I can't stop myself from crying.

"Y/n wait for me"

It's too good to be true but Lord if I'm currently dreaming. Please never wake me up.

But as I said... It's too good to be true.

I woke up in the morning, with my bed hair and saliva on my pillow. Guess reality needs to continue.

The moment I woke up, I kept craving for bacon and pancakes, like what I usually dreamt about.

"Argh I'll have to visit the market for these items. Well maybe I should bring a whole box of vegetables to sell with my regular customer afterwards" That place doesn't know my personal background, even the fact about mom, so I could roam there freely.

I walk my way down the hill and through a village and into a market. Luckily it's not that far. So I managed to arrive on time.

"Hey friend how are you?!"

"Oh hey girl. I'm supposed to be the one asking you that! You've been gone for like a month and a half. Can't find another seller with an astonishing price cheaper than yours! So what vegetables did you bring today?"

"Month?" I mouthed without realizing. I've been gone for a month, now this proves the fact that. I... I.... I..

I sleep like sleeping beauty.. Nah.. It means. My dream is not just a dream. It was real.

"Y/n . Yes what have you been doing lately?"

"Oh well I was learning a few farming tricks which is not successful. A reason why I haven't visited you. So now I went back to my usual farming tricks. Here are some vegetables I harvested yesterday. It's your usual pick."

"Ooooooh! Im so glad! I'll buy it all. As always, your vegetables are the best, plus it last longer than any other vegetables out there"

After talking to some vendors, I head straight to the nearest mall , just for my bacon pancakes.

"What can I do for you?" The seller asked me as I inspect each box of pancake mix.

Without looking at her I grabbed three pancake mix and that's when I finally look at her face.

"Fionna?" The name slipped through my mouth, surprised at the girls huge similarity towardsmy friend Fionna.

"Huh? How did you know my name ma'am?"

"Your name is Fionna? Haha just a lucky guess. I hope we could be friends"

"Ofcourse" unlike the Fionna I met in my dream, this one seems more mature and older.

"Hey Fionna. Your ship is over. Let's switch for now" A guy with the same uniform said but upon seeing his face, I was mesmerized.

"Marshal Lee?" I murmured to myself to avoid suspicion from them. Marshal took a short glance at me.

"I better go now ma'am. May I know your name?" Fionna asked.

"It's Y/n"

"Well then. See you later Y/n" Fionna left me amd Marshal alone.

"Is your name Marshal Lee?" I asked the handsome guy next to me.

"Woah! You're right, how did you know my name? I'm not wearing any name tag or something! Wait.. Oh yeah. Maybe because of that show. Adventure time. It's where my mom took our name. We look identical to those characters. Must be the reason why you figure what our names are"

"Wait. Adventure time?"

"Yeah it's my mom's favorite kid show. Fionna and I we're the product of our mom's addiction towards the show"

"Adventure time huh? I see" I never heard of that show, yet why do I feel hurt whenever I hear the name. It reminds me of my dream and Finn. Is it just a coincidence? These people meeting me, the show, the rotten vegatables.. Are they all just a coincidence or am I really destined to know about these things?

"Hey Mr. Marshal. Is there any places I could buy some Adventure Time shows?"

"Oh yeah. You can buy cheap CD's at the next floor"

"Well thank you Marshal. See ya" I said running, taking some bacon and pancakes, paying my stuffs before heading up. I bought the whole season of adventure time. After everything I went home.

I immediately cooked the food I craved for and eat it, forgetting about the show as I fell asleep again.

"Y/n. Wake up. It's been months. How are you?" Is that Marshal Lee, The vampire king and Jake the dog?. And that . Who is she? It doesn't look like Fionna.

"Oh hey Marshal. Who is she?"

"Oh her. She's my girlfriend. I met back in the tour"

"I see.. Congratulations! Im so happy for both of you" I hugged both of them when I remember a familiar figure.

"Jake. Where is Finn?" He gave me a worried look. It seems like he's too sad to even talk further.

And that's when I wake up.

"What's up with that? What's with Jakes face?"

It was night time, I cooked for my own dinner and remember the Cd's I bought.

While I'm eating. I played the first episode. I was surprised to see each seconds of it. It's my friends back in the dream, all of them were there including Finn, yet each individual look a bit 2d animated.

Everything was there.

But.

One specific part intrigued me.

The ending song.

I felt so attracted to it so I search it and found the whole lyrics.

It made me imagine the moments with Finn, whenever we hangout. It brought the smile back into my face as memories flooded my mind upon hearing the song.

Is it really just a coincidence this song reminds me of an escape from reality? A world where dreams can be fulfilled? A world where happiness can be permanent and a world where love is everlasting? The lines seem to wake up each listener, telling them these temporary happiness is merrily just a dream at night.

Yet

The next part broke my heart into its core.

It's like hidden feelings, never been told yet forced to change cause of troubles. Mostly reminds me of myself towards everyone, especially the guy I like..

After four days I finished watching the entire series and was disappointed about its ending. I WAS hurt after seeing the ending. I don't want that kind of ending. Is that what my dream about Jake's expression means? No! Finn can't be dead.

How can its creator know about this? Are they a part of the land of OOO? Is there somebody else out there who can be in that place?.

What I'm sure of.. I need to figure it out by myself.

I searched for the creators of the show including the name of the writer. Everything may be revealed to its audience except for one specific name. The name of the story writer.

After some time, I finally contacted them and asked if I could talk to the writer yet they never allowed me. So I ended up leaving my contact details in their email.

After a week someone replied again

'Can we meet?'

'This is Adventure Time's story writer. Please be informal towards me'

I immediately replied back. My heart is pounding so aggressively as if everything is turning right.

'Ofcourse. If it is alright with you though?' I replied back. It only took a second before the company answered again.

'Please tell me the nearest landmark at your hometown. And I will gladly meet you there'

How can this person be that unexpected? Adventure Time's company is wayyyy too far from here. Are they nutz?

'Are you sure? The landmark is still far away from your company address'

'Trust me and don't worry about me. By the way please don't think of it badly, I was just intrigued by your thoughts about the show. I'm delighted to have a fan like you'

I should be worried about my safety but we're going to meet in a mall, not my home address and there is a lot of people in there so crime is impossible.

I finally agreed and informed them about the nearest landmark which is the mall.

After another week I was finally prepared to meet the writer.

I'm currently sitting inside one of the coffee shop waiting for the person to arrive. Luckily I brought some extra money for these. To be honest life had been good to me these past days, as if I suddenly became lucky having more customers than before. So I can afford daily consumption of coffee or milktea.

I ordered a coffee and a small piece of cake cause I'm starving. They can never stop from eating. Food is layfe!

Soon a person occupied the seat in front of me. I haven't look up to see his face yet but based on his body structure and formal black suit, plus girls or guys around us seem to fall in love with him at first. I'm sure he's a guy.

Yet he placed a red book on our table making my eyes widen at the sight. I suddenly looked up into his face. The shock even made my coffee spill a bit on my clothes.

"Oh glob are you alright?" He immediately took a table napkin and wiped the coffee stains on my arm.

"You're the story writer?!"

"There is a part of the story that was left untold so please listen to what I'm about to say. Alright Y/n?"

"O-okay"

He started talking

"Finn finally learnt all the spells written in the book of magic. Sadly none can bring him directly to where his love is. Yet he can teleport to the world and the country she lives in so he did. Time passes by and Finn grew older searching for her. He turn into an old geezer probably 50 years old, he learnt everything about her world but still can't figure out where she is, so he used a spell to bring back time, back at the age before meeting the girl he likes. This time Finn made a huge preparation. He wrote a story and sold it in one of the biggest publishing company, as a young guy and writer his story still got accepted and was bought by an animation studio. That's where Finn's story became known as Adventure Time With Finn and Jake. He suddenly remembers details about her personal background such as her mother being killed by murderers cause of the fake news about her being a bad witch, so he searched for those fake news online and found one. At this time her mother is still alive. He got a hold of her mother's contact details after figuring out the mothers social account, since she is also a well known fortune teller in facerbook. Finn paid her mother tons of money through online banking (since he lives far away), only to chant a specific spell that can bring another person to a place where she'll meet her happiness, (He can't use the spell for himself, only for others) she chanted it for her daughter and it will be effective at a specific date and time, Finn told the mother when it should take effect. She accepted the request. And it became a loop through time.

The months where you entered my original world kept looping and it always ends at the time you wake up back in your room after Fionna reciting the spell cause you died after your soul went back to your original body. This time is different though. I traveled nd arrived at your home on time. I healed your wound with a spell. I kinda taken care of you while you're in a coma for two months and hide knowing the exact date of your soul coming back to earth. I placed you back to your usual spot, and cut your wrist slightly but harmless just to make sure you wouldn't think someone was here, helping you.. So for you it felt like a dream but it was not Y/n.. "

The tears flooded my eyes as I listen to his words. I met Finn for a reason. He really is meant for me. And I was meant for him. All this time I was with him, even before I met him. Time is all so confusing.

"Y/n.. All these years I've been time looping, cause of your repeating death But whenever you enter the other world, I kept forgettting everything. I turn into the first human adventurer without the knowledge of you and Earth. Yet kept remembering everything after entering your world again and again. It's like this world holds all he memories. But now finally I'm in the right path. I kept you alive for the first time."

"Yes .. Yes you did" I said wiping my tears. He remove my hands off my face and wipes my tears with his thumb.

"By the way Y/n. I was the one responsible regarding your increase of income. I told my clients to buy vegetables from you" He smirked handsomely.

"The fudge I thought my vegetables are one of a kind!"

"It tasted the same"

"Hmph!"

"Let me complete the sentence that was cut off when you teleported."

"Go on"

"Y/n.. I'll always figure out a way to bring you back cause you're the only person meant for me. You traveled all the way there in the land of OOO to meet me. Now is my time to meet you. Again and again.. But this will be the last time.. So Y/n.. I love You"

My tears bursted out again. To think that this person had gone too far just to find me again and again.

This must be the meaning of the song 'Island' in Adventure Time. No matter how hard life is, you can always find a place you can call home.

I can tell this time. I found mine
