Chapter 1Rebirth of Earth, Nuclear Explosion

"Eh, didn't I die in a car accident? Where am I now? Why am I feeling so dizzy!"

Gray was muttering and looking around him. He found himself in an unfamiliar forest.

"What is this? It hurts!!!"

"Rumble!"

A sudden resounding sound came from afar, echoing throughout the entire world.

Gray looked towards to the sound, and a mushroom-shaped cloud was actually blooming between heaven and earth.

Heat waves formed by endless fiery red light and blaze swept over and erupted instantly.

Its power was so great that even the clouds in the sky were overthrown by the heat waves. And they cracked all of a sudden.

"Rumble, rumble..."

Explosions continued to ring out. The shock waves of the heat waves visible to the naked eyes turned into a string of life-threatening amulets, destroying all lives in the world.

It also buried all lives nearby this area.

"Did we succeed?"

"Under such a level of nuclear weapon attack, it's impossible for any living thing to survive. It should be a success..."

Countless people stared at the scene of explosions on the screen and voiced their doubts.

Some of them even broke out in sweat, as if they were experiencing some great pressure.

It was simply because... after 1945, they had once again used the most terrifying weapon in human history, the nuclear bomb.

Humans who had gone through systematic learning would know how destructive a weapon like the nuclear bomb was, and how terrifying the problem would be after it was used.

The five permanent countries of the United Nations had unanimously voted to launch nuclear weapons to destroy an island.

The reason why they had to use nuclear weapons to destroy an island was because...

For some unknown reason, the world had suddenly changed tremendously and started to revive.

Some countries had already discovered that the island was no longer under their control. In just half a month, the genetic mutation of some wild beasts had already exceeded the imagination of all humans.

Even the saber-toothed tiger, which had been extinct for millions of years, had suddenly revived and appeared on the small island.

More importantly, this isolated island seemed to have appeared out of thin air. Countless mutated wild beasts had adapted to the existence of the sea at a terrifying rate, and they were even marching towards the land and other islands.

Simply put, this island seemed to be the source of the spiritual energy recovery, and it was beginning to develop in an indescribable direction.

The rate of development was extremely terrifying. In just a few days, the creatures on this island had completed tens of millions of years of evolution for the original creatures on Earth.

According to the news from the United States, just five days after this unknown island appeared, a monster that could resist rocket launchers had appeared in a certain state.

There was even a mythical monster that had a pair of wings that covered the sky, sharp limbs, and shiny black skin. It was just like the gargoyles in Norse mythology that had rushed to the coastal areas and destroyed half of the town.

This disaster had resulted in tens of thousands of casualties and billions of dollars in property losses.

Therefore, the higher-ups of the United Nations did not hesitate, or did not dare to hesitate, to gather together for the supreme conference on this small island. In the end, they unanimously decided to release a nuclear bomb to destroy this unknown island.

Nuclear weapons were the taboo weapons of mankind, and they were also the most terrifying weapons.

With an unstoppable momentum that could destroy the world, they announced their position as the overlord of the world to the countless mutated beasts and others.

As long as these mutated beasts could not resist the nuclear weapons with their bodies, then mankind's position at the top of the food chain would not waver.

However, at this time, what the higher-ups of mankind did not know was that just as they were determined to destroy this island with nuclear weapons, a terrifying change occurred somewhere.

The pain, the heart-wrenching pain, instantly enveloped Gray.

Gray's body seemed to be torn into pieces of flesh, and the pain spread throughout his entire body. It was like a feeling that humans could not endure. Instead of surviving, it was better to die a quick and painless death.

However, what made Gray even more uncomfortable was the continuous burning sensation in the air, causing his lungs to burn.

"It hurts! What the hell is going on?!"

"Roar!!!"

Gray woke up from his coma once again, and the roar of a wild beast came out of his mouth.

It was not a language that he was familiar with, and it was not a sound that a human could make. It was more like the roar of a wild beast.

"What's going on? Why am I making such a sound?" In the midst of his confusion, Gray finally opened his eyes with much difficulty.

A pungent smog filled the air, and there was an obvious smell of burnt meat.

Could it be that an asteroid had hit Earth? A casual thought popped out in Gray's mind. He looked around and found that there were no earthquakes or flying rocks. There were only the remaining terrifying temperature and... the inexhaustible flames.

No, that's not right...

Gray's pupils slowly focused on one point. He noticed that there were countless charred corpses on the ground in front of him. The smell of roasted meat was coming from these corpses.

Beside the corpses, there was mournful howl. It was like a beast trapped in a desperate situation. The final cry and struggle had an indescribable sense of desolation.

And these charred corpses were actually lizard-like creatures.

Yes, very large lizards.

If Gray's guess was correct, the largest reptile lizard known to exist on Earth should be the Komodo dragon.

...

"Wait, don't tell me that if I appear here, it means that I... " A casual thought flashed through Gray's mind. Raising his hand, he saw that the arm was as black as the corpse out there.

No, this deformed thing shouldn't be called an arm, but a giant claw like the Komodo lizard.

"Did I get it right..." Enduring the pain, Gray slowly crawled toward the small puddle a meter away. Just as he was afraid, he had turned from a complete human into a Komodo lizard!

The largest lizard in the world.

However, there was no time for Gray to sigh and be shocked. The more intense the pain, the more it felt like it was going to tear him apart.

The feeling of his life being on the verge of passing away made Gray smell the scent of death. Even if he had become a lizard, living happily was an extremely rare luxury for him.

If he was reborn, so be it.

If he was reborn as a lizard, he would accept it. But he was actually on the verge of death. This d*mn god, were you sincerely trying to make things difficult for me?!

He raised his head and let out a long sigh. What he let out wasn't the roar of a lizard, but more like the roar of some ancient creature.

However, at this moment, the smell of meat from afar once again reached him.

Looking at the pitch-black corpses not far away, an indescribable sense of hunger suddenly welled up in his heart.

Looking at the pitch-black corpses in the distance one after another, Gray couldn't help but swallow his saliva. Hunger, a feeling that was even worse than the pain from before, couldn't help but surge out.

His body was completely out of his control. It was as if the survival instinct of a living creature drove Gray to crawl step by step towards the charred corpses.

In the end, he finally arrived in front of a turtle, and then... He slowly opened his huge mouth that had a strong biting force.

One after another, cracking sounds came out of his mouth. With a crisp sound of being roasted, the roasted meat that emitted the smell of burning lizards had already entered his stomach.

However, at this moment, a sudden electronic synthesis sound suddenly sounded in Gray's mind.

"Ding Dong, you are currently devouring the flesh and blood of a level 3 mutant turtle, obtaining +10 evolution points."

"What! ?"A sudden exclamation sounded out, although it was a roar...

it expressed the shock in Gray's heart. Having read countless books in his previous life, he naturally knew that this was the golden finger that most transmigrators must possess!

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.

The short version is that this isn't so bad. Compared to other trial reads, at least. You shouldn't listen to other reviews. Almost all of them are just based on the title or synopsis. I can see only 1/2 of the reviews are accurate, but from what I understand, they have not read through chapter 40. Can't wait to see the future chapters of this story. This story is worth re-reading. I haven't re-read many books, even ones that I praised highly. The actual review is as follows: 「Translation Quality」 ✮✭✮✭✮ All Pilot Reads usually get a 4/5 from me. A translation is not a thesis by an English major that determines a person's future career. If it was only machine translated, I would've given it a one/two, but with a cleaner who even went as far as Westernizing it, I have to at least give them some credit. Bumped up the rating to 5/5 because I felt like this story deserves the extra praise. 「Stability of Updates」 ✮✭✮✭✮ Rating the "Stability of Updates" score for a story is... Complicated. The overall score is directly proportional to the quality and upload speed, whereas the quality is indirectly proportional to the upload speed. The slower the uploads, the better the quality, but the more uploads, the more people are happy. Then again, since this is machine-translated work, I won't dwell too much on it. And, well, it's a trial read. It updates 5 chapters a day, then goes on "hiatus" once it reaches 40 chapters. In 3 months, if the readers vote for it, it will be picked up. It's now time for the make-or-break moments. A story's crux. Note that these ratings are based on other trial-read stories and not on novels in general. The scores would be devastatingly low if we were to rate them based on the stories I read. 「Story Development」 ✮✭✮✭✮ Story development entails taking inspiration from your imagination and putting it down on paper. This is what I've heard from writers in the past. How then is Story Development handled in this story? Chinese web novels tend to run for several thousand chapters, so there is a lot of elaborated plot, but most of it is just filler. The repetition of clichés is what makes a Chinese story ... well, Chinese. This story, however, avoids those Chinese clichés that detract from the experience. There are a few, but the story doesn't revolve around them. Chinese-translated derogatory terms ("Blue Planet") and mediocre names are still used. Apart from that, it's not too bad. There are certainly problems, but this isn't the typical face-slapping culture-cultivation with airheaded chicks and ignorant stepping stones story you'll find. First of all, there are hardly any human interactions. MC's only contact with humans ends in death or — <SPOILER #1 AT END OF REVIEW> There is a "golden finger" for MC. He also seems to have little trouble dealing with enemies. Up until Chapter 40, he never encountered an enemy that he would have difficulty facing off against. The only time he's had trouble is when fighting something like a mini-boss (Just a monster on the same rank as him) while trying not to use his Isekai Cheat Skill™. In terms of Story Development, not much can be said. "The ability to depict your thoughts into a story exactly as you want it to be." is Story Development. Perhaps they intended to say: "Does this story have a plot progression, or is it filled with unnecessary fighting scenes and boring clichés?". 「Character Design」 ✮✭✮✭✮ Once in a while, it's refreshing to see the main character like this. The main character is non-human, for starters. Secondly, MC isn't a humanoid thing, like an elf or a demon; he is a complete monster. Like, the monsters you find in your portals-and-players rifed manhwas. After he transmigrates, it breaks his nature as a human, and he ends up having humans after reviewing their lives. "They're narcissistic and xenophobic," and that's why MC stares at them with little to no regret for the things he has done or is about to do to them. Big-boob airheaded chick doesn't concern MC. If you have talent, good. If you have looks, that won't help you in the jungle. He experiments on people to discover the extent of his abilities and to find out more about his current situation. A person can't live by morals and ethics unless they make them a dictator with trustworthy allies. There is a system that the main character relies on to grow stronger. There aren't any carrots and sticks just yet. MC is born cold-blooded, and he plays his role accordingly. 「World Background」 ✮✭✮✭✮ The story takes place on a small island near Indonesia. In chapter 9, MC regards the island as the "Komodo Island of Indonesia." Some sections are given descriptive details, but most of it relies on your knowledge of what a small island on Earth looks like. I'm excited about future chapters and looking forward to when humans come and — <SPOILER #2 AT END OF REVIEW> ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ <<>SPOILERS<>> MC's only contact with humans ends in death or — <SPOILER #1> transformation into a half-breed that lacks any thought process. I'm excited about future chapters and looking forward to when humans come and — <SPOILER #2> see Claire looking like the abomination she became after MC mutated her. <END OF SPOILER>
