*BEEP*

*BEEP*

The alarm clock rings out beside the twin bed. Under his blanket, a sleepy Yang Shen lazily raises his hand and slaps down on the snooze button.

"Yang you've got school don't sleep in!" his mother yells from down the hallway.

As he rolls over and stares at the ceiling he tries to motivate himself to rise out of bed.

"Is dropping out worth 5 more minutes.... damn it as if I could fall asleep now," With a sigh, he laments another boring day of his college life.

Swinging his feet out of bed he walks to his bathroom to clean up, as he exits the shower completely awake he throws on a simple hoodie and jeans. Closing his wardrobe he looks once more at his poster for the upcoming monster hunter game plastered in front of the door.

'Just a few more days,' he thinks to himself, excited at the prospect of playing the latest installment in his favorite series as he rushes downstairs.

Greeted by the familiar sight of his parents eating breakfast. His dad holding a cup of coffee as he scrolls through the news on his tablet as his mother feeds his baby sister. She giggles and tries to grab the spoon with her toddler arms as the woman tries her best.

Taking a seat at the table he looks out the window of their apartment. Just a pane of glass separating them from the massive city with the myriad of skyscrapers surrounding their own.

"Something feels off, or is it just me?" He asks his parents, a ominous feeling rising in his stomach.

He receives only a giggle from his little sister as they don't seem to take him too seriously.

"It's probably nothing, now eat if you want a ride I can't wait forever ya know." His father says prompting Yang to eat his cereal. As the man steps away from the table he kisses his wife on the cheek before stepping going to refill his cup.

*BOOM*

A loud explosion is heard, everyone looks out the double glass doors on their balcony to see a expanding dome of light rushing toward them. Building as crushed and debris flung wildly in the air.

"GET DOWN!" his father yells, his voice shaking everyone out of their dazed state before he begins to get his wife and daughter under the table.

As Yang pushes his chair away and moves to join them, a loud shattering of glass is heard. He looks up and suddenly finds himself against the wall of the room, a few feet away from where he was standing. Looking down he sees a gash across his hoodie and his chest, a small glimmer of light shining through his wound as it burns his insides.

"ARGGHH!" he cries out as he curls into a ball on the floor, his body and mind not knowing how to react to such pain.

As he whimpers on the floor wrecked with pain, unbeknownst to everyone his wound begins to heal quickly leaving only a small scar in its place. He sees his father rushing toward him, his mother and sister huddled under the table trying to stay calm. As the man is mid-step the massive wave of energy reaches their building.

Before he can even understand what's happening he sees his family fade away. "Don't worry everything's gonna be ok," the last lie his mothers said to the crying baby in her arms as the light envelops them. His father almost close enough to touch before he too is swallowed by the light, and either by some cruel act of fate to prologue his suffering. Or an unjust act of mercy, the light doesn't affect Yang at all.

In fact, it feels warm, comforting. It conflicts with his currents emotional state, his tragedy and grief, his confusion and sorrow. Accompanied by a warm feeling of home, of familiarity.

As the tears blur his vision, he blinks to push them away. Opening his eyes once more he finds himself floating, in a world without color. All he can see is white in every direction. His body feels weightless. In fact, as his heart is broken his body has never felt more whole.

Suddenly he sees THEM, in the distance a massive colossus of darkness fighting a knight made of pure light. As the darkness begins to expand, it overpowers the being of light and causes another explosion of energy. In what appears to be a final stand the light being grabbed onto the darkness and begins to struggle, only to be overpowered once more. Now forced to submit it made a desperate attempt to survive.

Slamming its incorporeal fist into the nothingness is forms cracks in the air. The darkness backs away just before the cracks crash open and a blue sky is revealed. The newly formed gate pulls at both being, the darkness claws at the light as it resists the pull, tearing much of the lights form away. Stripping it from a titan standing above 300ft(Godzilla 2014) to barely the size of a car before the gate pulls it in.

As the being is pulled in, what appears to be a hand stretches out, not to the darkness but to Yang. It tugs at him and he finds himself at sonic speeds flying toward the gate. The darkness reaches out to grab him but is too far away. He flies past it and into the blue gate.

He finds himself falling, high above the clouds, high enough to see the curvature of this planet, yes 'Planet', because clearly, this wasn't earth. Below him, the light is now in the form of a thin woman but still 8 ft tall.

She reaches out with a slim hand and calls to him, pulling him toward her slowly. His chest feels warm as he approaches her. He is completely forgetting that he is almost in the stratosphere as this is happening until he sees land over her shoulder.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" He yells at the top of his lungs, a reasonable response.

As she almost reaches him a sudden glow takes hold of her, freezing her motion. As they approach the ground a massive circular city can be seen below them, barely obscured by the clouds. The glow seems to be pulling her toward the middle of this city. Slowly the glow begins to spread from her onto him to drag him to share her fate.

With a single flick of her finger, the light on her body dims greatly, a sphere of light forms around Yang as a small sheet of paper materializes within it falling onto him. She saves him from sharing her fate, shunting him miles upon miles away from the circular city.

Rocketing through the sky, he suddenly begins approaching the ground, he sees a dirt road as he braces for impact in the forest nearby.

"AAAAHHHHH!" he cries out once more, just before everything goes to black.
