Just in Time

Amaranth Ellis closed her eyes, she knew that when they reached the closet and opened it, that would mean the end of her. But suddenly, a lone knight screamed at the Wilhelm invaders. She could recognize him clearly; it was a knight of Elysia. "Hey! You Wilhelm dogs! Face me!" The knight taunted the two.

She knew that this would be the only chance for her to escape. Amaranth seized it, with one push of the closet, she was now out. The knight was greatly surprised. "P-Princess Amaranth?" the knight was surprised at her suddenly appearing. This gave the invaders from Wilhelm enough time to land a cheap attack, stabbing him from behind.

But the knight's veins were surging with adrenaline, he proceeded to overpower the invaders with his sheer gigantic and mountainous size. Amaranth watched on closely as she hid behind him.

"A-Are you alright, mister?!" Amaranth wanted to help him, but the knight knew that his wound is fatal. The gates of death were inevitable now.

"This is the least that I can do now. To lead the princess away from harm. I must fulfill my duty as a knight of Elysia till the very end…" The knight thought to himself. "Right here, Princess Amaranth." He escorted her towards some sort of a secret passage which lead directly to the outside world.

They were now in the sewers, combating the foul odor and the threat of diseases down under these filthy drainage systems. "I am incredibly sorry for subjecting you to such a place, Princess Amaranth." The knight apologized even as he was on his last few breaths.

"N-No. Do not say that, mister. You are the one who saved me, when we get out of this place, we should tend to your wounds as soon as possible." Amaranth said to him.

She was still kind despite what fate had just served her. It was a cold and unfeeling dish of betrayal.
