On the moon

Jordan spends the whole night reading and sorting the catalog while rats were running outside.

Every night night huge number of rats emerges and eats anyone that wanders outside and their number only grows by the day, Jordan plans to deal with them in the future but for now, they are quite good security that prevents anyone sneaking up on him at night.

On the morning of the 25th day after the mana came, Jordan went outside of his room and began preparations, he needs to secure a room that is as safe as possible for visiting the moon platform.

While Jordan leaves he will leave Sunny in charge so it would be best to spend few hours talking to him about what he has to do ´Sunny. even though you are the most evolved you are still dumb as a rock, hopefully, if I repeat it several times you will remember it´

Jordan spent the day by his usual activities such as taking care of the beasts, training, and going through the prepared phrases of the demon language, and when it was about 4 pm Jordan washed and put on himself the best cloth he found from exploring the city, it was a white shirt together with black trousers from a tuxedo.

Jordan took all his crystals that were two person´s worth and the angel´s wings that can be luckily exchanged for more crystals, Jordan cut his beard and somehow combed his short and messy hairs, there were no barbers so he couldn't do anything about that, with everything prepared Jordan took the teleporting device and went to the fortress wine vault, there were no windows and only small doors before those doors was Sunny sitting making sure no one goes in.

Jordan sat on the ground and poured a bit of mana into the teleporting device, the device slowly came to life and started to connect to the main teleport crystal on the moon, this part will take several hours so Jordan in the meantime re-read the reorganized catalog and dictionary, by now he knew the catalog by heart but flipping through it won´t hurt.

The catalog had some rules about the platform and also about the agreements between the demons and angels such as that no demon/angel can use the generated gate to travel to a different place or that any demon/angel that stays on the platform too long to the point that the mark/connection from his teleporting device disappears will be killed on spot and so on, these rules made sense as they prevented using the teleporting device to escape difficult predicaments or making huge groups of demons/angels and ganging up on enemies.

When you simplify it ´if someone destroys the teleporting device while I am away I will be fuck out of luck´, the teleporting device came with a small shield field that can prevent immediate destruction but still Jordan would rather not be forced to teleport right under an enemy who can prepare as many traps as he wants to welcome Jordan back on earth.

Jordan was a bit nervous and tried to distract himself with reading and after what felt like a whole day, a round hole in the fabric of space started to appear and a round passage formed before Jordan, while also Jordan could feel in his mind mark from the crystal, if he activates it by a bit of mana the mark, another gate will appear, for this gate, he wouldn't have to wait as his teleporting device is already connected to the teleport at the moon, rather than teleporting device better name would be contactor.

Jordan looked at the round gate that was before him, he excepted that it would be some black hole he would have to blindly step through but when looking through Jordan could clearly see the platform on the moon, it was more like a window, with few deep breaths Jordan stepped through "its only a step for a demonkind but a huge thing for me.... or something like that"

On the platform, there were thousands of demons and they were in lines that formed around various tables where various creatures were seated, stood, or something? for some of the species, it was hard to tell.

Sometimes some few angry slurs could be hurt or just talk from the demons around, the creatures behind the tables varied from see-through piles of jelly, green, ugly creatures that had huge thin noses that were as tall as half their small head, long and sharps ears and hands that were long enough to touch their knees when standing without the need to bend, there were also elves with dark skin or dwarfs that had only long beards and their whole bodies were covered with scales.

Jordan looked around for a bit before he oriented himself and then he looked a bit around, still, he didn't want to provoke anyone so he didn't stare at anyone, after satisfying his curiosity Jordan went to find the area that was set for his state.

The platform was divided according to continent=>state=>region, it took a while but Jordan found his region and went to one of the relatively empty tables, Jordan went to a table where a jelly-like creature was there "sitting" behind a table, the creature had the color of light blue and was completely seen through, Jordan could even see bits of a hand that was dissolving inside of it.

There were some demons in line before the table, some had only bat wings and no horns some had wings and horns, some stopped resembling humans as their faces were deformed by their fangs or mutations, the demons here were in ratio 4 males on 1 female and when added together there were 8 demons in total.

The jelly creature vibrated a bit while it swung from side to side and started to say in demon language "Well, let´s wait no longer and get to the point!", have you ever talked into an electric fan? That's how the voice of the creature sounded.

"as you are all here for the first time let me give you quick rundown to save some time, there are several gates that connect to other world where you can buy monsters, beasts, weapons" The jelly creature grow a stump from its body and pointed in a direction of the gates "when you walk through you will be in room that has system similar to the platform here, you will be given number and that number will be for example 111 so you will find camp 101 – 200 where you will trade for any monsters that you want, more detailed explanation will be given to you there, if you want to trade human ears or angels wings or any other parts for crystals or you want crystals for the number of humans that are under your control you can do so here, also you will receive your monthly payment here as well and that payment depends two things, first it's the rank of the demon you mutated into, yes there are ranks and more about that will be told to you later, and secondly your overall rank that is counted from your contribution such as killing important personal of the opposite party, occupying important towns and so on"

Jelly "The monthly amount of crystals you will receive is calculated from those two factors, now the demon army will identify what type of demon you are and will provide you with basic information about the demon you mutated to, please form a line near that table and keep a 4-meter gap between the one that is currently identified, and you can reject doing so but we will provide you only with the lowest monthly amount you can get, that is all"

The jelly blob trembled and ended the conversation, everyone was quite curious about what kind of demons they were so they formed a line near the table where they will be identified. Jordan though wasn't all that eager to get himself identified... giving away information about what kind of demon he is would basically give them a way to deal with him... "whatever, I just need to be strong enough"

Any useful information now could be proved invaluable later, for this reason, Jordan decided to get himself identified as well. And the extra crystals were also quite the allure.

Jordan waited where the blob was, he still has to sell the angel's wings, and he also wants to ask the blob about some things he is curious about.

A bit later it was finally Jordan´s turn so he took the wings out and put them on the table, the blob looked curious and moved above the wings, and then a stump formed from it together with a spell that was made of several circles and shone with light, the light enveloped the wings and quickly disappeared.

Jelly "the wings are from an angel in the middle-low rank that´s 150 crystals" the blob took the pouch and took from it 3 big crystals that were worth 50 crystals each, when added to the number of crystals Jordan currently has, he now owns 350 crystals at total.

Jordan got straight to business "I have some questions... can you tell me why have we mutated?" the blob trembled for a bit and then spoke with the vibrations "world without magic is unnatural, your bodies weren't meant to survive without mana but they did, there are many questions that even the demon army don't know answers to, your world is just too unique, but for the mutation of the "earthlings" we know the answers, it depends on the amount of mana your body was able to handle and on the thoughts of a person, the more they are negative the bigger is the probability to mutate in demon and the higher the rank for worse negative thoughts, this process is unique to your planet, as your bodies didn't have mana ever before they had no resistance for it, that´s why the bodies absorbed the mana as bottomless pit and the thoughts corrupted the mana and that went to the mutations, that's why you mutated"

Jordan looked at the blob and was quite surprised, firstly an answer for why he mutated, and it was quite a logical one but he still needed some time to process it, secondly, he didn't even expect answers that could be free. Jordan "thank you, and the magic you used just now, where can I learned it?"

Jelly "in the world of Esphar, that where you can buy magic tomes with knowledge about such spells"

Jordan "what am I owing for this information?"

Jelly "those are free"

Well, that´s nice thank you, that should be all... "

Jordan said goodbye and left the big blob, after that he went to the line that was for identifying the demon species.
