Dream Energy

On the day of Sen's coming of age ceremony where he would be tested for his mental power he was seated inside of a church with two others, his father who was so excited he looked like he was going to burst a blood vessel, and the reverend who was about to test Sen.

This was traditionally a private ceremony due to the results directly affecting one's future, if one had poor talent they would be an outcast, therefore it was just these three. Sen was currently wearing his favorite clothing, a red shirt with a black jacket on, regular jeans, and a pair of black sneakers. He was also wearing his necklace that his mother bought him before he died, it was in the shape of an angel. Sen himself had his hair cut short on the sides and slightly long in the front with a dark jet black hair color, the nervousness was apparent on his face, he was ready. The 13 years of his life was all leading up to this.

The reverend took out a spherical object that appeared from thin air and stated "My ability to open the Informational Orb has been proven, I have been accepted from above to test his capabilities, and this is proof." The reverend then waved for Sen to stand up and come forward to touch the object, this was finally the moment they had been waiting for.

Sen looked at the reverend and looked at his dad, his dad just nodded profusely for him to go forward towards the reverend and Sen hesitantly went forward. Little by little he made his way and slowly reached his arm out and touched the object.

The object then turned black and the reverend instantly gasped, his father fell to the floor in shock and horror, immediately the reverend shouted "Its.. a top class talent! This is.. unheard of! In all of history there have never been.." Just as he was about to say this the objects color changed to white and the room paused with an awkward silence.

The reverend and father took a few moments to collect this all in and gather their emotion. Sen was looking at both of them repeatedly with a smile, extremely happy thinking that he was extraordinary! "This.. is a white talent.. your son is barely capable of making mental energy.. I'm sorry. It seems before was just a mishap with the tester.." The reverend looked down in shame as Sen's father collapsed from the shock.

Sen's smile stopped as he was confused. "I.. what? White.. talent.. what?" It seemed as if the entire world collapsed for Sen, he felt useless as if the entire time he had been born was just a waste of time. Most of all, he felt bad for his father. This was the chance that he could prove to him that he was more than an average kid, that his efforts attempting to train his mental energy weren't a waste, that he wasn't a waste! But now.. he was just left with a feeling of a permanent emptiness, like a void consuming nothingness for all eternity.

Sen's father slowly awoke from his shock and used his hands to prop himself up off of the floor, he took Sen's hand and said "Let's go." In a hellish tone that Sen had never heard from him before, the entire way home Sen looked as the ground as they walked, the others that saw him as he was walking all just looked on, they could understand from what they saw that Sen's ceremony didn't go well, they didn't know how bad it went however. Finally, Sen returned home, as his father slowly creaked the door open he said "Go to bed. You have school tomorrow, be sure to get up."

Sen looked at him devastated and as his father was walking away he replied saying "But.. I'm 13 dad.. most stop school after their test.." His father just looked at him and pointed upstairs. Sen wasn't walking so he shouted " Go! That applies to MOST kids, you're talentless! You have to make up for it somehow! Now go!" Directly after saying this tears formed in both Sen and his father's eyes, Sen ran upstairs and his father felt pained.

As his father sat down he looked at a photo he had taken when he was younger with his wife and thought to himself

'Why did I scream at him.. its not your fault Sen... I just don't want your life to end up similar to mine.. I wish your mother was still around. I love you Sen.' He then laid in his couch and cried himself to sleep.
