Unaware of the questioning look she gave him, Theovin clasped her hand tightly and led her towards the door.
Opening the door and going out first, to clear the way before allowing Rosey to step out.
Leading the way down the grand staircase of the mansion, Theovin and Rosey made their way out the entrance door, Theovin taking the lead.
Theovin wondered where Ralph was. He was supposed to be waiting down here for him, but he couldn't see him around.
Theovin was on the verge of using his powers to locate Ralph when he saw him outside the door.
Ralph leaned against the car with a cool demeanor, but something was off: his head was tilted back and resting on the roof, an unusual sight.
"Did he really just fall asleep standing on top of a car?" Theovin exclaimed incredulously.
Rosey shot a curious glance at the man resting on the car and exchanged an amused look with the person beside her.
'Just when I think he couldn't do anything dumber, he surprises me with an even more ridiculous performance,' Theovin thought to himself.
"Ralph!" Theovin called out to Ralph, but received no response, causing a slight frown to appear on his forehead.
Theovin called out to Ralph again, this time louder, 'Ralph!!"
Ralph didn't even flinch at the sound of his name being called so loudly.
Theovin couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with him. Was he sleeping or something else entirely?
Curiosity mounting, Theovin quickened his pace. He kept a firm grip on Rosey's hand, pulling her along with him as he made his way closer to the car where Ralph was resting.
Her gaze falling on their intertwined fingers, Rosey couldn't help but feel strange about the sensation of being held by someone
Despite her initial discomfort, Rosey found herself feeling protected and comforted by his hold, and couldn't help but hide a small smile as they continued walking forward together.
As he reached Ralph, Theovin's hand extended with precision, and with a swift flick of his wrist, he gave his head a hard tap, jolting him out of his deep slumber.
Ralph's bleary eyes squinted, and he lifted his hands to rub the sleep away from his eyes.
However, as his vision came into focus, he found the figure of Theovin directly in front of him, causing him to quickly snap out of his drowsiness and drop his hands to his sides.
He put on a façade of being fully awake, despite the grogginess that still lingered in his expression.
Theovin interrogated him. "Can you tell me what you were doing here? I called for you several times, and you didn't respond."
Theovin asked, crossing both hands over his chest, effectively relinquishing his hold on Rosey, which he later regretted.
He wanted to appear imposing and strong in front of her, but now he wished he had held her hand once again.
Ralph answered with his eyes darting around while he struggled to come up with a convincing response. "To be honest, I wasn't sleeping. I was... patrolling. Yes, that's what I was doing," he replied, his voice trailing off with a hint of uncertainty.
Theovin shot Ralph a skeptical look. "Let me get this straight. You were patrolling and somehow managed to keep your eyes closed?"
Ralph attempted to explain, stumbling over his words in the process. "Yes, I was patrolling the grounds...but, I mean, it's not like I was sleeping or anything. I just got a little distracted."
Theovin raised his hand towards Ralph, signaling for him to stop. "Just stop it, Ralph," he said firmly, silencing Ralph immediately.
Theovin turned his back on Ralph and faced his mate, who was watching them with an amused expression in her eyes."
Suddenly, Theovin felt an urge to pat her on the head, but he hesitated. 'What if she thinks I'm being creepy?' The thought made him retract his hand slowly.
Rosey was so engrossed in observing Ralph's antics that she didn't even notice Theovin's intentions.
Amusement sparkled in her eyes as Ralph made faces at Theovin's turned back.
Her lips were about to curve into a smile when she felt a sudden grip on her wrist.
Rosey felt a strange mix of confusion and curiosity as Theovin gripped her wrist.
She turned to look down at her hand, only to be forced to look up again when she heard his voice.
Theovin spoke in a gentle tone, his voice urging her to follow him. "Let's go home. We'll board the car now," he explained calmly.
Without waiting for her response, he reached out for her hand and led her toward the back seat of the blue Toyota car.
Theovin's voice was laced with irritation as he addressed Ralph. "Are you going to stand there like a moron, or get in the car and drive?" he growled, feeling annoyed at Ralph's distraction.
Ralph's gaze was fixed on Rosey, as if trying to see what was hidden inside of her, and Theovin found it both unsettling and frustrating.
Ralph's voice sounded distracted as he replied, "I'm coming, I'm coming." With an effort, he broke out of his trance and reluctantly tore his gaze away from Rosey,
Ralph jogged to the driver's side and swiftly got behind the wheel after Theovin and Rosey had already entered the car.
With a practiced maneuver, Ralph started the engine and smoothly reversed the vehicle. He then drove to the gate, heading towards the array.
"Hey Theovin, should we wait for Mavin to lift the array?" Ralph asked, turning his head to look at Theovin who was sitting very close to the human.
"Let's keep moving, Ralph. Since he has restored the connection, Mavin should know that we're approaching the array," Theovin replied, gesturing towards the road ahead.
Silencing Ralph with a gesture, Theovin leaned backwards and focused on Rosey beside him.
True to his word, the car passed through the array smoothly, without any resistance.
The car now moved along a straight path, flanked by tall trees on both sides.
The path appeared eerie, with looming shadows created by the soft breeze that made the trees sway back and forth to their own rhythm.
The moving shadows only added to the already eerie atmosphere.
The moving car was silent, with nothing but the sound of the engine to keep them company.
Ralph had briefly considered turning on the radio for some distraction, but ultimately decided against it.
The quietness of the car was soothing in its own way. They continued driving down the path, with only the sound of the engine and the rustling of leaves to fill the air.
Ever since they had gotten into the car, Rosey had scooted to the other end of the back seat and pressed her face against the window, watching the scenery outside with delight.
Despite the eerie atmosphere of the forest, she seemed to be enjoying the ride, taking in the beauty of the passing trees with childlike wonder.
Rosey had never been in a moving vehicle before since she had only seen them pass by on the tiled roads, but she was loving every moment of it.
Her eyes were wide open as she watched the scenery pass by at a rapid pace.
The trees seemed to blur together, creating a surreal and almost magical effect.
The human couldn't help but smile at her excitement and wonder.
To Rosey, it felt as though she had been transported to another world, far from the one she had grown to know.
The moving car and the beautiful scenery outside the window had taken her away from the harsh realities of her life.
The silence had become too much for Ralph, so he decided to break it. "Hey there, pretty thing, I'm Ralph. What's your name?" he asked, turning his head to look at Rosey in the backseat.
Ralph's words caught Rosey's attention, and she immediately turned her head away from the window to face him.
Theovin scoffed inwardly at Ralph's attempt to engage Rosey in conversation. 'As if she would answer you if she didn't answer me,' he thought to himself, silently observing their interaction.
Despite his skepticism, he couldn't deny that Rosey seemed to be enjoying the attention, and her smile had only grown wider at Ralph's question.
"Rosey...I am called Rosey," she replied in a soft voice. Her response caught both Ralph and Theovin off guard, but it was Theovin who felt a sudden pang of hurt.
He was her mate, but now it seemed as if she was more interested in talking to Ralph.
He shook off the feeling, telling himself it was silly to be jealous of a simple conversation.
"What a lovely name you have, Rosey," Ralph complimented her, smiling warmly.
Rosey's lips curved upward in a small smile. She couldn't help but feel drawn to him - his warm brown eyes and easy smile made her feel at ease.
"I think the universe wants us to be friends," Ralph said, flashing a wide smile. "Our names both start with an 'R' - it's like fate is telling us we're meant to be buddies. What do you think, Rosey?"
