Chapter 20: Defeating Yamcha

 One night, unwilling to accept defeat, Yamcha secretly approached John's dome house, intending to launch another surprise attack to steal the Universal Capsules. However, he overheard a secret that greatly intrigued him.

 At that moment, he was hiding beneath the window of the living room, where John and the others had just finished lunch and were watching TV on the sofa, while Bulma was taking a bath in the bathroom.

 Oolong took the opportunity to ask, "What do you intend to do with the Dragon Ball you are so eager to collect?"

 John replied, "The Dragon Balls are incredibly powerful items. There are seven of them, and once gathered, they can summon Shenron to grant any wish. Legend has it that the current king of Earth became king by wishing for it from Shenron."

 Upon hearing this, Oolong was instantly excited and asked, "So what wish do you want to make with the Dragon Balls? Goku."

 Goku shook his head and said, "I don't have any wishes to make. I'm just here for adventure and to compete with strong martial artists."

 Hearing Goku's words relieved Oolong. He also wanted to make a wish with Shenron, so he needed to find out what others wished for in order to figure out how to seize that opportunity for himself.

 Oolong turned his gaze back to John and asked, "John, what wish do you plan to make?"

 At that time, John didn't understand Oolong's intentions but didn't care much about it; he was already plotting how to take the Dragon Balls from Pilaf.

 John said, "My wish is simple: I want Shenron to enhance my physical abilities for martial arts training."

 Oolong immediately gave a thumbs up and said, "That's a great wish." However, privately he thought it was quite dull and mused, "What boring wishes! If it were me, I would wish for a pile of girls' underwear."

 At this moment, Goku asked, "So Oolong, do you have any wishes you want to fulfill?"

 Naturally, Oolong couldn't reveal his lewd wish in front of everyone and instead smiled and said, "No, I don't have any wishes worth fulfilling."

 Outside, Yamcha heard about the wish-making with Shenron and his eyes lit up. Puar quietly said beside him, "Yamcha, we can just wish for lots of wealth from Shenron instead of robbing in the desert anymore."

 Yes, Puar's greatest wish was for Yamcha not to rob in the desert anymore; his school taught them that robbery was not a good thing.

 However, Yamcha replied, "No! I want to wish with Shenron so that I won't be afraid of girls anymore. Then I won't have to stay in this desolate desert; we can go enjoy life in the city! I could even find a cute girl to marry."

 At this moment, Yamcha suddenly thought of Bulma whom he saw during the day and thought to himself: "It would be even better if that girl were the one I saw earlier."

 Puar fully supported Yamcha's wish; he believed that as long as Yamcha stopped being a desert bandit, it would be fine.

 After thinking for a bit, Yamcha told Puar, "Puar, let's retreat for now. We'll come back at night to steal the Dragon Balls. You need to adapt quickly and disguise yourself as one of them; just don't get caught."

 "Okay, Master Yamcha!" Puar happily agreed.

 The two retreated first and stayed in their car until midnight when they returned to John's capsule house.

 Just then, Mai and Shu happened to arrive in their robot to install explosives and steal the Dragon Balls.

 As a result, these two groups unexpectedly encountered each other; upon seeing each other's intentions, they understood what was going on.

 Yamcha struck first by throwing a punch at Mai's robot.

 Mai's group did not back down either; they controlled their robot to attack Yamcha.

 A fierce battle broke out outside John's capsule house.

 The intense fighting soon woke John and his friends inside; the lights that had been turned off came back on.

 Both Mai and Yamcha noticed this situation; after testing each other with attacks again, they retreated.

 John opened the door and looked outside but found no signs of activity as if no battle had occurred at all.

 Bulma yawned and asked John, "John, what happened outside?"

 John replied, "Nothing much; it's probably just some animals fighting outside our house. They saw our lights turn on and left."

 "Alright then! Since that's the case, I'll go back to sleep. Lack of sleep really affects my looks," Bulma said before heading back inside.

 Later that night, John remained vigilant; fortunately for them, those who were eyeing the Dragon Balls did not attack again.

 The next day, John drove everyone towards Fire Mountain.

 As they were about to leave their territory, Yamcha was unwilling to let them go easily. He stood on a hillside and fired an RPG from afar.

 From when John got into the car he had been alert for their reappearance; he spotted Yamcha's RPG coming from far away.

 John shouted loudly: "Everyone be careful!" He pressed the gas pedal hard then drifted away from their original position.

 With a loud explosion, the RPG hit near their car; although it didn't directly hit them, the powerful shockwave flipped their car over.

 Bulma and Oolong passed out immediately; seeing they were unharmed made John temporarily ignore them as he climbed out of the car with Goku.

 Although later on Yamcha would become his ally, that didn't stop John from teaching him a lesson right now.

 Knowing that his strength might still be inferior to Yamcha's at this moment, John said to Goku: "Goku! This bandit is yours now; give him a good lesson!"

 For Goku fighting was his favorite thing; he happily replied: "Leave it to me!"

 Saying this Goku quickly charged towards Yamcha. Initially dismissive of Goku thinking he was just a kid who could be easily defeated,

Yamcha underestimated him. But underestimating an opponent comes at a cost; Yamcha didn't expect Goku's strength would be so high. He dodged Yamcha's attack with a quick move and landed a punch right in Yamcha's abdomen.

Yamcha felt immense pain as his eyes bulged out while his mouth opened wide but no sounds came out.

Goku followed up with a flying kick that struck Yamcha's face sending him flying away and knocking out one of his teeth.
