The White Haired Demon Slayer (Part-16)

Just because I can sense it coming doesn't mean I can avoid it. I was feeling this more and more every moment.

Gutting a goblin champion with his own axe, I kicked the blade in deeper to silence the wailing monster.

Immediately following with a punch to the left, I grabbed the dazed goblin by the neck and threw him in the path of another sword strike coming at me.

The goblin champion swinging the sword cleaved through his ally's body, stopping at no point on its path to my skull. This was bad. I had the wall to my back and no place to move.

Instinctively, I raised my shield to meet the strike, which was a grave mistake. My shield was no cheap item, yet when the heavy sword strike came into contact, the blade literally started cutting through even the shield. I was about to lose my hand any moment now.

I don't care about losing my hand, but the shield lets me fight longer. I cannot lose the shield.

To save it, I frantically pushed and twisted against the sword, breaking free of the blade but unfortunately losing a sizeable chunk off the top.

I was still surrounded, there was no time to lament the condition of my shield. I ducked under a passing sword swing and stabbed the goblin champion back with the full force of my Light magic.

The body of the dead monster dispersed in light, finally creating much-needed space for me to move. I jumped again, especially high this time to let the goblin champions charging at me crash into each other instead.

Landing on one of their back, I plunged my sword into flesh, without the light magic. As intended, my screaming target swung his weapon around wildly in pain, taking down multiple of his fellow goblin champions lethally.

Just as I was about to fall, I infused Lightbreak with a large burst of light magic, erasing the existence of the goblin champion struggling around under me.

Unfortunately, all this jumping around doesn't come without a cost of its own. A huge hand grabbed me in the air and slammed me into the floor face-first.

Immense pain spread through my body, with gravel scraping across my face. However, the goblin champion manhandling me didn't stop. A massive force crashed right into my back, knocking the breath out of me and probably breaking multiple bones.

I screamed out in pain like I never had. The goblin champion continued to stomp on my back as blood from my mouth splattered onto the floor with every hit.

The pain was unbearable. My regeneration could heal any damage, but it didn't help at all with the pain. In fact, the pain which would have ended in a single moment continued to torment me, with damage being healed constantly, only to get hurt again.

My voice was starting to fade, and my head was becoming lighter. Fuck. I am about to lose consciousness.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck.

"NO!!!" I growled.

Even as my vision blurred and my body screamed out in pain, I put my hands against the floor and raised myself despite the heavy stomps crashing into my back.

My arms felt like they could twist and crack at any moment now, but I refused to go down again. With a final push, giving it everything I had, I threw the goblin champion off my back, sending him tumbling back into his allies.

Light magic was healing my organs. Still, I could feel the destruction caused inside. I could barely even stand, but I must fight.

"Light... break," I croaked, calling my sword back to my hand, spewing blood from my mouth.

While I infused Lightbreak with magic, Lightbreak infused me with the confidence and purpose to fight again.

Even before I could charge at the goblin champion in front of me, an arrow pierced right through my shoulder. The sudden burst of pain just as I was recovering from the previous one broke my focus, making me stagger forth a few steps.

The goblin champion who had just destroyed my internal organs once again saw a chance. As I got back on my feet, the massive blade of his axe came crashing into my shoulder. The blade sunk deeper into bone and flesh, tearing through right away until my arm was no more. Gone with Lightbreak.

Meaningless...

kill... kill... Kill... KILL KILL KILL KILL

"ENOUGH!!!!" I roared, sheer wrath and utter hatred boiling inside me. I don't give a fuck anymore. I have had enough of this goblin champion.

Caring naught for the arm I no longer had, I put my shield hand forward and charged, smashing into his torso with unimaginable force. The goblin champion went flying back into the wall.

Another arrow pierced my body, yet I didn't care. Jumping off the ground, I landed on his breastplate and smashed the top of my broken shield into his face.

I punched and punched. Relentlessly, screaming in rage even as blood from the monster splattered across my face, breaking my knuckles with every impact.

I punched, punched, punched, punched, punched, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming...

DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE

DIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

"LIGHTBREAK!!!!"

My arm regenerated, and Lightbreak flew into my hands. Raising the sword above my head, I plunged my sword right into his face.

THIS IS NOT OVER.

NO ONE... SHALL LIVE.

***Ren Kaizel***

"How creative."

The Grand Orc roared in victory. He had finally caught the human. Holding Ren in a vice grip, the lord of the monster spawn rushed the power of corruption from his skin onto Ren. The night was already in its deepest. The power of corruption would be more potent now than ever. Nothing can survive this.

Ren continued with a smile. "Unable to hurt me in any manner, you desperately hoped to harm me with the power of corruption. Just like the Demon Generals kill humans with a single touch of corruption, right? Nothing can survive this, right?!"

No... something is wrong. Why is this human still alive? This is impossible!

"WRONG!!! Hahaha, only if you knew. Let me tell you a secret, you weakling. Corruption will never work on me." Ren smashed his arms into the Grand Orc's hands, sending a crashing shock of pain traveling through the monster's entire arm.

The Grand Orc roared in pain, falling back to the ground, making the entire throne room shake due to the impact.

Ren landed on his feet as he watched the Grand Orc flailing in pain. To think that after all these years, the monsters were more scared of the Demon Generals than him.

"This makes me sad..." Ren sighed.

His mind wandered off. Monsters were probably spawning all over the Monster Spawn right now. That's how it usually is when a major threat is detected.

'My team is strong enough to be considered a major threat.' Ren smiled as he thought to himself. He was absolutely sure of it and very proud of himself for joining such a good team.

Ren continued to be lost in his thoughts, smiling brightly as he imagined. "I wonder how they must be fighting. Probably came up with so many combos till now, learning each other's moves, and covering each other's backs."

"Liam with his swordplay and light magic, Luca with his unmatched speed, and Elaina with her amazing wind magic control. I hope even Sylvie is finally letting herself fight freely. That is some great skill she is suppressing. Hehe, when I go back, I hope they'll adjust me into their style too. There is so much I can teach them. Ah, this is fun."

Hmm. But Ren had been having his fun over here too. This is exactly what he had been looking forward to for the past few days. He could stop the continuous spawning of monsters right away. All he had to do was kill the core of the monster spawn to deactivate it. The Grand Orc in front of him.

But playing around with him was so much fun. It's not every day you find a decent punching bag.

"Ah well, I should get serious now. Time to get some answers."

Just as Ren started walking towards the Grand Orc, a cold, ghastly cry cut through the air. Chills went up Ren's spine as he heard the cry.

"SAVE US... REEEEEENNNN!!!!!!!!"

In the flash of a second, Ren was no longer in the throne room. Running across the dark hallway that connected to the Throne Room, he reached the edge from where his team fell when they first saw the Grand Orc.

The scene he saw froze his blood. Far at the bottom of the pitfall, all by herself, Sylvie held Elaina's bloodied body in her arms as large numbers of goblins closed in on them from all directions.

. . .

POWER.

Everything was shaking. It was as if even the ground was trembling in fear. The air grew so dense with mana, no human would even dare to breathe, much less remain standing on their feet.

The ground at his feet cracked, the rifts growing larger with every passing second. Purple streaks of raw, untold magic rippled through the air. Mana around hissed and cracked at contact with his skin, sending waves upon waves of turbulence in all directions.

Ren Kaizel...

Rage filled his heart. Something he cared for was being hurt right in front of him. Rage... he hadn't felt in so many years. Ren dispelled his metal form. Defense was not needed anymore. Purple glowing marks appeared over his left arm, from the back of his palm and over his shoulder, all the way to the corner of his back and chest. The air fumed in contact with his left arm. He let his deeply suppressed power take over him, as soft purple magic streaked through his hair, turning them a shade of white as pure as snow.

Ren Kaizel... had awakened.

As Ren turned to the Grand Orc charging at him with heavy thumps that reverberated through the ground and walls, the look on his face froze the monster in his track.

Ren's eyes were the most unnerving feature of his new awakened form. The eyes of most magic users would completely glow in the color of their magic, but only for a second when amassing large amounts of mana in the body...

Ren's eyes were different. Everything other than his iris was normal, but the irises glowed bright purple, searing deep into the heart of any who would look at them. Ren Kaizel was in a constant state of amassing extreme amounts of mana in his body.

Not for a second did it flicker, not for a second did it go down, glowing constantly, brimming with magic and raw power. The grand orc wanted to run, hide, get anywhere safe, far away from this human. But the eyes, they wouldn't let him.

He was the lord of this spawn, and now he regretted even existing.

There was nothing he could do, nowhere he could run.

Screaming from the bottom of his heart, the Grand Orc called upon every last bit of corruption in his body. All his power concentrated to one point, at his fist.

He punched, he punched to save his life; he punched to end it all.

Ren stepped forward, sending forth his left arm to meet the grand orc's fist with his own. A thundering shockwave tore through the room. The Grand Orc's entire arm... disintegrated.

.

.

.

"Blade..."

.

.

.

Creeping throught the silence that ensued, all one could hear was the sound of chains scraping across the ground. Steadily approaching.

Ren's sword was now drawn. A massive adamantite sword the size of a human, bladed on one side, with heavy adamantite chains attached to the end of its hilt.

With the other end of the chain wrapped around his wrist, Ren approached.

Inevitable. That was the Grand Orc's only thought... and his final thought.

Before he could even utter a single sound, a massive blade planted itself in his skull as the white-haired human appeared in front of his eyes. Looking the human eye to eye, he knew... there was no mercy.

The huge blade was pulled out of his skull, and in a flash of magic streaking upon the blade, a complete arc was formed at the neck with a single slash.

Silence...

As the head dropped to the floor with a thump, in his final moments, the grand orc looked at the figure in front of him.

Purple eyes... White hair... Death.

This was...

The White Haired Demon Slayer.
