Home Life

After making it back home and opening the door Victor was able to see a little girl quietly writing something in a notebook while sitting at the dinner table. Before leaving he had made sure to tell his little sister that he would be taking a trip in hopes of improving their future.

Walking into the dining room table Victor called out to her, "Hey, you hungry Addy?"

"Ahh!" Addy jumped back in surprise, then quickly jumped on top of her notebook and covered whatever she was writing.

Victor Laughed, "What could be so private you have to cover it with your whole body?"

Addy pouted, "It's my diary if you must know, also why are you here when the sun just came up in these early hours?" Before she could continue she frowned as she looked Victor up and down, "Why are you covered in red?"

Pausing for a moment he looked at his body that was covered in dried blood, "Umm... Well, I left you a note telling you I have a plan to hopefully improve our future! And that is what I did! Instead, why don't you tell me more about this diary I didn't know existed?"

Despite frowning Addy didn't seem to think much more about it as she spoke with a pout, "You said you would be back today but I thought I would have the rest of the day with the house all to myself. Also, my diary is my privacy!"

Victor wore an expression of interest, and with a teasing tone, he dramatically spoke, "OOHHH! So you already have a diary to write all of your crush's names and who is the cutest boy in your class."

Addy was just mad at her brother's teasing tone she mocked him back, "OOHHH! I didn't know that you spend your time writing in your diary about all the cute girls you see. After all why else would you say 'already have a diary' to me asking what I wrote?"

Laughing at his sister trying to get back at him he responded smiling, "I would never own a diary, but mom said that almost all girls like to write their emotions in a diary. Now I just said what I would have probably written in my diary if I had one."

Addy just laughed and said with a cheeky smile, "In that case make me a good breakfast to make it up to me for teasing me!" Addy paused as she covered her nose and spoke, "But first! Take a shower!"

Victor also laughed while also letting out a sigh of relief she didn't question why he was covered in dried blood. Since he grew up taking care of his sister like a parent, he spent enough time with her to know what she wanted. Victor's father was always too busy with work that it seemed that he only slept in the house and not lived here. So it was always only them.

Although Addy seemed a little childish when she interacted with Victor, he knew she just was messing around and was actually very mature and aware of what is happening around her. You see Addy knew the situation is not very good for them at the current state of things and she wanted to mess with her brother so that he could feel better, hoping to make him more hopeful for the future.

Although he wasn't certain, he also believed she knew that he was covered in blood and not just 'red stuff'. Maybe she believed he did something even crazier than he did just to make some money, or she just didn't want to know hoping to stay partially ignorant...

After messing around enough with each other Victor finally left Addy alone to hide her diary somewhere while he showered and prepared breakfast for both of them. It was especially needed since yesterday he just had two sandwiches and a little of the horse meat the entire day.

At 15 o'clock Victor had his appointment to take the test to see which cultivation system he would use. The entire morning all he could think about is what cultivation system he would end up using. It is said there are infinite different types of cultivation systems in the world with the most easily accessible being the system called Qi Cultivation. Qi cultivation is so common that advice as well as how to cultivate with the method to the third level are easily accessible on the internet so long as someone pays a little for the information.

Although it is said there is an infinite amount of cultivation systems, most people can never have the most effective method for their own cultivation. To have the most compatible cultivation method it needs to be custom-made for each person, but that is impossible for most as almost everyone isn't talented enough for that.

This means most people either go and use the most compatible cultivation method they can get their hands on or, if they don't have enough talent for any method, they are given the Qi method as a consolation. All cultivation methods have a similar advancement and the creators of the systems gave the levels completely different names for the same level, these levels are called major levels in their own respective cultivation systems.

The official levels just go by numbers starting from the first level which is considered an introductory level and everyone who is on it is just a beginner and not a real cultivator. The second level is a newbie cultivator.

The third level is considered the cannon fodder stage since all those who aren't talented enough get stuck at this level. Although it doesn't include that many people since only less than ten percent truly stay at this level for more than twenty years, it is enough to show a clear divide between those who could be powerful to those who are just cannon fodder. To truly be considered stuck at this level you would need to stay at this level for 10 years.

The fourth level is the lowest level soldier since people are allowed to leave the safe zones around cities and are allowed to go to the wild zones that cover most planets. Wild zones are separated by the territory of the beasts that live there, while safe zones are simply considered where humans reside.

People who make it to the fifth level are finally considered true beings of cultivation and can apply to leave the planet and head to low-level cultivation sites which are just planets that have a low level but are just not completely explored. The fifth level is also called the great separator since only those who are successful enough in the fourth level and gained enough merits or have a good enough background can reach this level.

Victor ate lunch while thinking about what cultivation system the test would tell him is most compatible. Slightly distracted from whatever he and his sister were talking about Victor distractedly shoved the blueberry pancakes into his mouth.

Addy could tell he was distracted but she thought he was thinking about other problems instead of the hope for the future. She could only smile wryly hoping that the future wouldn't become so bleak. Addy truly loved and cared for her brother, and she knew that he gave up on a lot hoping that she could get the best future since she was even smarter than he was and it is commonly believed the smarter the person is, the better the cultivator they will be.

After breakfast, Addy left for school at 10 o'clock. As there are 30 hours in a day on the planet Rhea, he was given three hours to rest completely and one more hour to get ready. Victor set an alarm on his phone to get a few more hours of sleep.

Victor was only able to get two more hours of sleep before his body screamed for more food again. The growling of his stomach made him curious about the reason why before this he only needed two meals but now, directly after breakfast, he needed more nutrients. But after thinking about it for only a moment he was reminded of his new blood talent, low regeneration.

The human body needs the energy to repair itself so with the number of injuries he had sustained yesterday and regeneration that can heal him 2.5x faster it is obvious he should need a lot more food. Victor took a look at the bite marks that should have been barely scabbing already fully covered and starting to grow new skin over the wounds.

Greatly surprised and excited about his discovery, Victor decided to treat himself to more food. Such spending would originally start to become a problem, but with this new revelation, his hope for the future had been further solidified. The more he felt his wounds itching the more excited he became for the upcoming evaluation.
