Chapter 1 Entering The Sect

Gazing upon the mountain before me, my eyes shone brightly. Finally I had arrived, arrived at the place of my dreams, the Black Cloud Sect. 'If I don't pass this entrance exam.....' I thought to myself as I nervously lined up before gate.

My name is Xiao Wen and its been 14 years since I reincarnated into this world. Yes reincarnated. Before this life I had lived a rather mundane life on a planet known as Earth, my death not being anything special either. Besides the fact that after I closed my eyes for the final time there, I ended up, well here.

Unlike Earth, this place is a place of dreams. Tales of Immortals ring throughout the world, people who can overturn mountains and rivers with a palm. Or the countless heroes, who can tear the skies in two.

To tell you the truth I haven't seen such people, but I believe it to be true, for one reason and one reason only. The presence of cultivation. Back on Earth I had read many stories with such a power system, and I knew how ridiculous it could be, not to mention I had experienced it myself otherwise I wouldn't be at the Black Cloud Sect.

But this was all besides the point. I had arrived at the Sect, and lined up to get my talent test. My parents spent all their saving to send me here, and soon it would be my turn to test my talent.

"Next!"

Hearing this I walked forward locking eyes with the examiner who was conducting the test. 'This is it.' I gulped down nervously, before placing my hand on the large stone before me.

1....2....3, and then out of nowhere the stone glowed albeit dimly. In contrast I had the largest smile on my face. The level of glow indicated talent, but if it didn't glow at all it meant you had no possibility of even cultivating.

"Talent about average, you pass. Go over there to officially enter the Sect. Next!"

With that being said I had passed the Black Cloud Sect's entrance exam, thus my cultivation journey officially began. Or at least I thought it did. Following the examiner's instructions I ended up following a path to the Sect's Registration Hall.

It was possibly the most luxurious building I'd ever seen in this life up to that point. 'As expected of a Sect.' I thought before swiftly entering the building. An old man sat behind the desk his wrinkled face, and long grey beard were the obvious signs of an Elder.

"New recruit? Tell me your name, age, and current cultivation." The Elder inquired, his eyes locking with mine. His gaze alone sent shivers down my spine.

"My name is Xiao Wen, I turned 14 this year, and I've reached Body Tempering 9th Stage." I replied, to which the Elder's brow raised ever so slightly.

"The 9th Stage at 14? Not bad you must be quite the hard worker. At least you won't have to wait too long." The Elder replied, his voice lowering towards the end turning into a mutter of sorts. 'Wait for what?' But before I could voice my thoughts, he tossed me a token, a book and some clothes.

"Go to the trial disciple quarters, you have to go right...got it?" He explained, to which I nodded. "All right then be on your way." The Elder shooed me away.

Fearing that I'd anger him, I bowed lightly before leaving the Registration Hall and heading towards the trial disciple quarters. As soon as I arrived, my expectations were immediately shattered.

Rather than some luxurious quarters, what I found was a bunch of dingy huts that looked dirtier than even some of the worst huts back in my village. 'Trial Disciple not Outer....fuck.'

My brain began to work finally as I processed everything that had happened until now. Talent, average, Trial Disciple compounded by the comment the Elder made. Immediately I gripped my hands tightly together.

I felt my blood rushing to my head, but I swiftly calmed myself down and took a deep breathe before heading to a random hut. For the foreseeable future this was going to be my home whether I liked it or not.

Upon entering I noticed 5 beds, of which 3 were unoccupied. "A newbie huh? This is our "Heaven Sundering Immortal Sovereign" gang's hut, if you're gonna stay here you're gonna have to pay up." The lanky man who was lying down declared.

"Ya if you know what's good for you!" The fat man who was lying beside him concurred. Hearing this I just stared at them blankly, were they trying to extort me? And for what? I had literally nothing of value on me.

"Okay what do I have to pay you?" I asked out of curiosity. Immediately the two glanced at each other before face palming. "He hasn't read the book yet so he doesn't know about contribution points." The fat one attempted to whisper to the lanky one. This then snowballed into a full blown discussion they had between themselves.

To say the least I was unamused and so immediately asked the most important question. "Bosses if you'd be so kind, how strong are you? You must be the strongest of the Trial Disciples no?" I asked trying to fish out the information I really needed.

"Of course we are! Now that the others are undergoing Meridian Cleansing, no one can beat our 6th Stage of Body Tempering!" The fat one declared arrogantly jumping off his bed in glee.

"6th Stage? This makes things easier then." I smiled before cracking my neck. "I just so happen to be in the 9th Stage!"
