Li Chen furrowed his brow, trying to understand. "So, what's the plan? What are you and the elders going to do about all of this? Just forget it ever happened?"
Li Cheng sighed. "It's too early to say. We're still trying to figure out what's going on."
Li Chen fell silent, his gaze fixed on the table in front of him. Worry etched lines on his face.
Li Cheng placed a reassuring hand on Li Chen's arm. "Listen, I know you're worried about all of this, about Li Jing. I promise I'll do everything I can to get to the bottom of this. We'll find out who tried to hurt you."
Li Chen finally looked up, his eyes searching his father's face for any hint of falsehood. He saw only sincerity in Li Cheng's eyes, a genuineness that resonated deep within him. Li Chen couldn't shake the feeling that his father meant every word.
Could this be a trick? Li Chen wondered. But what would be the point?
