In the brutal capital city of a forgotten kingdom, a young boy and his sister are born into a life of hardship and deprivation. Their father, a retired adventurer, drowns his failures in alcohol and gambling, and their mother is forced into prostitution to make ends meet. Despite his tragic circumstances, the young boy dreams of a normal life and is devoted to protecting his little sister from their harsh reality. One day, his world shatters when he returns home to find his sister missing. He learns from his father, with no remorse in his voice, that she has been sold to a nobleman. In a desperate attempt, he tries to rescue her but only ends up brutally beaten and left behind, his sister's pleas still ringing in his ears. Realizing the cruel truth about his world, he vows to save his sister, no matter what it takes. The boy confronts his father, venting his anguish and sorrow before leaving his past and embarking on a perilous journey. Carrying only a small sack of belongings and his sister's cherished wooden doll as a reminder of his mission, he steps into the world, leaving behind the only life he has ever known.
