Chapter 15

Thin got up quickly to check on White's kittens out of fear. She ran to the healer's hole. She came in and saw Cream shivering as her siblings desperately tried to help her.

"T-Thin-t-tail," Cream dipped her head.

Thin went over and sat beside the kittens, blocking the cold wind. Cream curled closer to her. Slowly, the kit warmed up. "Do you know where White went?" Thin asked.

"Mom?" Berry asked. "Oh, she said she was going on a scouting group and she'd be right back."

"How long has she been gone?"

"Pretty much since you all got back," Cresent replied. "Poor Cream's been shivering since you all left."

"Aww. Poor kitten." Thin curled her tail around the three. "I'll stay until your mom gets back, ok?"

So they waited. It was night when White came in the hole. White was breathing heavily and had a scratch on her side.

"What happened?" Thin asked, getting up.

"I was on a scouting patrol and we had a run-in with some of Fade's cats," she said.

Thin growled. "They need to stop attacking us."

"I know, don't remind me," White said. "But anyways, thanks for taking care of my kittens while I was gone."

"You're welcome."

Thin and White traded places. White laid down with her kittens. Thin walked out of the hole and to her own hole to sleep.

She had another dream. She dreamt she was in the forest. She was in a forest. The forest was bright with light coming from each tree. The trees were white with small gray spots all over them. From each spot, a cat carefully came out. They were all cats she'd seen before from the times when there were four groups. The times when the cats were all at peace with each other.

That wasn't the case anymore. The cats had called themselves clans. The clans had died out except for a few cats from each. Thin remembered their old leader. She was cruel and rude. Her name was Featherstar. She'd led the cats of her clan when Thin was just a kitten. Her name had been Thinkit. She remembered her name being changed to Thin-tail by Storm-cloud. Storm was related to her dad.

The cats all gathered in front of Thin. She saw a cat she didn't know walk up to her.

"Thin-tail," it said. "Do you promise to protect your cla- group with your life and lead them to the best of your abilities?"

Thin dipped her head. "Yes."

"Then from this moment forward you will be known as Thin-st-" The cat paused, thinking. "Thin-moon. You will take the position as leader of your cla- group. And you will lead them for as long as you live."

Thin dipped her head. The cat came up and touched it's nose to Thin's. Thin felt all her memories rush back to her. Memories of the clans, memories of her parents, and memories of the foxes that killed them all. She was left with her brother, Dark-fur, who'd run away from Thin while Storm took care of her.

The cat backed away. The cats' fur shone like the moon, bright with their white light. The cats had beautiful white eyes that had a slight hint of the color their eyes had been in life.

Slowly, each cat jumped back into the dark spots on the trees they'd come out of. Except one. Her mom, Orange-Dream. Orange came up to her.

"You'll be a great leader," she said. "But only when you stop being the enemy."

She jumped into her spot on the tree before Thin could say anything. And her dream ended.

"I'm not the enemy," she said aloud, hoping no one heard.

She got up and stretched, seeing light coming into her hole. She walked out and bumped into Storm.

"Watch where you're going!" she hissed.

Storm pinned his ears in fear. "Sorry, Thin-tail."

"It's Thin-moon now."

Thin pushed past him. He kept his ears pinned as he practically tripped on his paws trying to get away.

"White, have you set up a scouting or hunting group yet?" Thin asked jumping onto the branch.

White nodded. "Both."

"Good." Thin looked down at the cats. " Everyone gather beneath the branch!"

The cats gathered.

"I have recieved a leader ceremony from the moon cats and therefore I will now on be addressed as Thin-moon. Anyone to call me otherwise will be mildly punished. Dismissed."

Thin jumped down. She thought of her words and how she'd acted torwards Storm. Maybe she was the enemy after all?
