61st Break: Feelings

Lin Yao froze when he heard what Meng Xing said. His face turned pale as his pupils trembled in fear. Don't… don't tell me… Meng Xing recognized Lin Ze? He thought as his hand trying to open the door again trembled and slipped. It almost cut his palm. No… no way, right? His pupils shook.

Lin Yao could feel his heart thump loudly against his chest. He nervously gulped down his saliva as he forced a laugh. "H – hahaha… yes… many people often say that my friend is a familiar person…" he said and smiled, though it looked like he is crying instead.

"Oh, I see…" Meng Xing muttered and he nodded in understanding. "I just thought that he is…" he said.

"W – who?" Lin Yao nervously asked as his hand turning Lin Ze's face stiffened. He almost dropped Lin Ze's mask to the floor, revealing Lin Ze's face! He almost exposed his lie!

"Hm? Ah, no one important." Meng Xing answered and smiled.

Lin Yao. "…" I have a feeling that Meng Xing already recognized Lin Ze and deliberately answered that way, but I have no evidence. He thought as his lip twitched. "Oh. His face really looks ordinary so he looked like many people." He said and made a hollow laugh.

Meng Xing chuckled. "You are really honorable to befriend many kinds of people." He told Lin Yao.

"… hehe." Lin Yao dryly smiled. He suspects that Meng Xing seems to be scolding him and at the same time stepping on Lin Ze, but he has no evidence. He decided to change the topic back to Meng Xing.

He has to send this person away. Not only because he felt that the way Meng Xing spoke is weird, but also that Lin Ze might wake up at any time! With this, Lin Ze will see Meng Xing!

"You… are you going out?" Lin Yao asked and looked at Meng Xing who was dressed up.

"Oh, yes. My friend asked me to meet them." Meng Xing answered.

Lin Yao almost asked on behalf of Lin Ze whether it is a man or a woman who Meng Xing will be meeting. Fortunately, Lin Yao stopped his mouth in time, or else, their conversation will last longer. "Then, you have a happy meeting." He told Meng Xing.

At this time, Lin Yao heard a click behind him. His eyes widened in pleasant surprise. The door is finally opened! He almost cried in joy.

Meng Xing, who had listened to the receptionist and Lin Yao earlier and rigged the door while Lin Yao and Lin Ze are still at the stairs, smiled like he wasn't the culprit who rigged the door, thus causing Lin Yao to chat with him longer. "Thank you." He even said. Then, he left. He acted like he didn't see Lin Ze's Adam's apple moved.

Lin Yao listened to Meng Xing's fading footsteps before he sighed in relief. He immediately pushed the door open widely for him and Lin Ze to enter.

But, before he could pull Lin Ze inside, he felt that his body became light. "… eh?" he muttered and turned, only to see Lin Ze suddenly stood upright! "Lin Ze!" he exclaimed. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Lin Ze who took off his mask and exhaled a breath. "Lin Ze?" he called. His tone sounds uncertain. He doesn't know whether Lin Ze has already sobered up, or is still drunk.

Lin Ze looked at Lin Yao. His eyes are clear. "Thanks." He said.

"You're not drunk?!" Lin Yao asked, shocked.

"No. I am." Lin Ze admitted.

Question marks appeared on top of Lin Yao's head. He is still drunk? But, he looked like he is sober? He thought, feeling bewildered. "Then... are sober now?" he spoke, then paused when he felt that his question is stupid. He held his head, feeling dizzy. I think I am also drunk... he thought and grimaced.

"En. I heard your conversation with Meng Xing earlier." Lin Ze spoke.

Lin Yao fell silent. He just looked at Lin Ze, waiting for him to continue. He can't tell Lin Ze on what to do. He can't criticize Lin Ze for hiding from Meng Xing earlier. He can't decide for Lin Ze on who to choose between Meng Xing and Meng Ruyan, either, since he is not Lin Ze.

It is not that things are complicated. But, it is the feelings that complicate them.

"Why?" Lin Yao can only ask.

"I feel ashamed to see him now." Lin Ze answered.

Lin Yao heaved a sigh as he sat on a chair and leaned his back on it. Then, he raised his head and stared at the ceiling. "How long have you known Meng Xing?" he asked.

"Two weeks." Lin Ze answered.

"And you only met Meng Ruyan today – " Lin Yao spoke. " – albeit you have been engaged to him for more than five years." He said.

Lin Ze didn't speak. He knows what Lin Yao means.

"You fell in love at first sight with Meng Xing." Lin Yao spoke. "Even if you don't completely know them yet." He said. "And you haven't seen their face completely yet." He added.

Lin Ze nodded in affirmation. He only knows that Meng Xing is an orphan, and that he is from the countryside. Aside from him coming to the capital five years ago to look for a job, only for him to be accidentally poisoned, Lin Ze knows that Meng Xing has friends in the capital, too, and he met two of them.

As for the other one who is missing, he will meet her when he finds her.

"Then there is Meng Ruyan, whom you fell on love at first sight, too, when you met him today." Lin Yao continued. He is helping Lin Ze analyze his feelings. "You know his family background, and now, you also know his face." He said. "Not to mention that you have been engaged to him for five years..." he added, then paused. "... well, now, it was broken." He grimaced.

Lin Ze pursed his lips. It wasn't him who broken the engagement, but his family.
