"Is Fate the excuse of the forsaken, is Free Will the delusion of the chosen?" Such was a question that Xavier, the Demon King, never had the chance to ask himself. As he lay defeated, awaiting his death, he wondered about the wretched life he lived. 'The hero who killed me, the one who held the same ambitions as me. We both wanted good for the people, for the world. We are both two sides of the same coin, yet, fate decided that he will be the one the light will shine on. Perhaps it was me too, perhaps it was my karma for flowing the rivers of blood with my sword. But still... It was fate that squashed the humanity in me first! Damn fate, if I had one more chance, I would've lived for myself more, I wouldn't have taken this arbitrary role of being a necessary evil... This world, this game of destiny... It can burn to ashes for all I care.' As he sunk into the cold embrace of death, a certain [REDACTED] heard his dying wish with amusement and cast their die, reversing the wheel of time one last time and going all in on him on a risky gamble with the stakes of their world. ************** Discord Server (fixed): https://discord.gg/rZhT6zdp2f Author is on a break, exams are coming soon. Chapter 1Demon King/Xavier (Prologue)

"You should be dead ten times over already, monster."

"H-Haha... As if I'll just roll over because of you vermins..."

In a desolate stretch of land devoid of any life, a man holding a radiant, ethereal sword was barely standing with an exhausted look on his face. He looked like he could collapse over and faint anytime soon, but he was holding on with sheer will. The rest of his comrades were already on their last legs, so he absolutely could not break form while standing before the man he considered his archenemy.

His archenemy, however, was already kneeling, punctured with weapons all over his body like a pin cushion. His sleek black cloak had turned brown with all the dried blood, and his eyes were devoid of any life or feelings, though, that was not visible due to the demon mask he wore. He knew that although he said those spiteful words, he was going to die any second now.

Despite his cold and harsh attitude towards his killers, he did not hold any ill feelings for them. In fact, he even respected one of them, which was the man still standing.

'Kaldian Zener. The son of a duke who is the complete opposite of what I expected of a high noble. He was born with a talent peerless, but his true strength lies in his heart. He is the one who did not look away from the darkness of reality, and with all his strength, did his best to bring it to light.

He strived to improve the lives of the unfortunate together as one, instead of someone like me who tried to do it all alone, never really believing that anyone was really worthy enough to stand alongside me...

How foolish... He may be the great hero and I, the worst villain to ever exist, but all I see is a person who made different choices than me for the sake of the same goal.'

The world had started to go blurry in the Demon King's vision, and he recalled his life as it flashed past his eyes.

'I was a wretched born to parents who left me by the garbage disposal. I survived due to an orphanage taking care of me, but I had to run at the age of 10 when I found out their 'adoption' meant selling the children as slaves or harvesting their organs. I had to steal food from the shops to survive, and later on, I stole money from the civilians to have a semblance of a humane life.

By complete luck, I stumbled upon a miraculous guide to swordsmanship at age 10, and my overwhelming talent blossomed. From petty crimes to gang wars, my infamy rose. It was exhilarating when the people who extorted 'protection fees' from me begged me for mercy. The poison in my heart, which had brewed inside me ever since I was born, never allowed me such novel things like mercy. Drunk in my power and treating the lives of others like bugs, I killed anyone who slighted me. It wasn't until I became an adult and my powers had grown beyond the scale of these petty things, that I realized what kind of terrible life I was living. I thought about why I had to live like a venomous rat when I had these talents.

That was when I looked for and found the root cause of all my suffering. The society. The society that was created by the nobles and kings since time immemorial. Those higher in the social hierarchy ruled over those with lower standings. They played around like gods and treated others like their entertainment. The orphanage I ran away from? It was run by the local lord. These gang wars I participated in? They were instigated by the territory rulers to "quell rats". Millions every year died of starvation, all because these nobles hogged all the resources for themselves in an effort to show off to the other nobles their wealth and opulent lifestyle. They treated other people as lower-lever creatures than themselves, and any disagreement from us "commoners" was met by punishments worse than death.

That's why I decided to end this vicious cycle. I had unquestionable strength, and after using that strength to break out of the cycle myself, I wanted to free others too. It started off as a little rebellion and the people who felt similar injustice united under my name. We killed the corrupt nobles and "freed" the population of their tyranny. I killed, and killed, and killed until my already grey morals started to get blurry, and my hit list somehow never got shorter. I lost myself in wrath and bloodthirst as I killed all those whom I determined as 'cancer' to the world, all the while deluding myself that means justify the end.

I never noticed that those who followed me seemed to be reducing in numbers. As time went on, the voices cheering my name got quieter and quieter. I never looked back, never noticing that I was walking my bloody path alone. Sometimes I wondered, whether the me who started this journey would even recognize the 'me' now.

By the time I realized that those whom I saved were wishing death upon me, it was too late to turn back. I was determined to reform the world, whether I went down in history as a revolutionary or a terrorist. Looking back, I still don't care. I have walked my path, the least amount of respect I can give to my lifelong journey is to see this through to the end. It's not like I completely failed, at least, the world will still become a better place if that hero, the one who interfered in every plan I had, does his job properly...'

Now, the demon king, Xavier, had lost all his sight. The world was dark, and he knew he would be dead in a few moments. In his final moments, he decided to at least be remembered as an example no one should follow.

"...listen, hero. I'll die in a few moments, so hear my final words." A calm voice sounded out of the demon king, who, till now, just said spiteful words.

The hero was a bit taken aback by the complete 180 of the attitude, but he still decided to listen to the final words of his nemesis.

"Speak, Demon King."

The Demon king responded with a slight smile as he took off his mask, which surprised not only Kaldian but the whole entourage. Contrary to their beliefs, the Demon King was not a demon, but a human, and a good-looking one at that.

"First, my name is Xavier, not Demon King. Remember that. If you want to know more about me, check the records of the 'Masked Revolutionary' stored in the forbidden section of the imperial library. I'm sure it'll intrigue someone like you, who knows about the darkness of high society."

The hero nodded, and even though Xavier could not see the nod, he continued,

"Keep doing what you've been doing. Save the unfortunate, help the poor, and most importantly, root out the corruption in the nobles and royalty. Unlike me, you have the ability to do that properly, so if you neglect those duties, I'm sure another foolish Demon King will be on his way..."

And with that, without hearing the hero's reply, he finally succumbed to his fate.

*******

...Somewhere in an unknown realm,

"Wow, that's it? It was way too plain and traditional. This story went exactly the way I expected without any major plot twists. On top of that, my favorite character fucking died pathetically at the end. He had such great potential, but he was downgraded to be a plot device for the story of the hero. What was up with that cliche redemption at the end of his life? I thought he was the main villain, but did he just die for the growth of the hero? Fuck this..."

A being, who looked like just an ordinary, innocent child, spoke with his eyes spaced out, as he was not really looking toward what he was looking at. Looks can be deceptive, as even though he looked just like a child, he was something greater.

Much, much greater.

"You know what, I think I can afford a bit of causality. It's a shame that such a shallow fate was weaved for this soul. What if I change things up a bit? A new timeline with regression should be enough, with nothing more than his memories. From what I've seen so far, he can do something maybe entertaining with it..."

The child took a deep breath and snapped his fingers with serious focus, and somewhere in another ethereal dimension, a string turned black.

"This shall be my move. Your turn, &£+#(@&"

Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

"Now, go forth, my mortal champion! Conquer this world—or else!" I lived a painfully average life and died by a stupid, stupid accident, but a goddess interfered, giving me a second chance in another world. There, I became royalty—the lazy kind with almost no obligations, free to live in peace and luxury for the rest of my days. Sounds like a dream, right? In reality, it was anything but—because I became *BEE* royalty. A Drone Bee, doomed to die of old age in 2 months! (A humanoid bee, thankfully, but still a bee in all the ways that matter.) The only way to increase my lifespan is to develop and grow my bee colony—a deadly task in a vicious world like this one. There are murderous insect monsters, colossal beasts trampling the earth, other civilizations, natural disasters, and the bitchy patron goddess who absolutely hates me. But as long as I have my brains, my bees, and the powerful genes my system gives me, my Bee Empire will be unstoppable! === For those who want to know more: This is a wholesome comedic story, but it has some dark moments. The focus is on kingdom building, survival as an empire, and interacting with MC’s beautiful bee wife and adorable bee daughters. The bees are all humanoid (see pictures) and human-sized. However, they are still bees in their ways of life and mentality. Although there’s a system, real growth comes from putting effort and time. Nothing happens in an instant in this story, unless it’s trouble. MC acts like an idiot sometimes (oftentimes), but he’s not actually stupid-stupid. When it comes to strategic decisions, he uses logic and reason. Even if you might disagree with it. Also, there will be no smut (ecchi is a fair game), incest, NTR, harem or BL. === Discord is up! Find it at -> https://linktr.ee/Garessta Updates: 2 chapters/day, right after the reset (with a 5% chance of running late). Reply to author's pinned review if you have questions. Also, although I realize the futility of this aim (at least right now), if this novel reaches top 15 golden ticket ranking (and stays there for a few days, obv), I will mass release 10 extra chapters! (within 30 calendar days)

Young Master's PoV: Woke Up As A Villain In A Game One Day

"Now you see?" she shouted in a tone that was somewhere between annoyance and disappointment. "You can’t outsmart Scrients! They’re the most intelligent beings across the two realms!" "You’re right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a solemn sigh. "I made a mistake. I was arrogant to think a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "...Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I’m not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait! You can’t. I killed them all." --- My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid and pointless scuffle. And in the middle of it, I tripped and smacked my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in… Memories of a different life. Memories of another world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First: I was inside a game I used to play in my past life. Second: I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool, mysterious, tragic kind either! No, I was the worst kind of cliché — a spoiled, insufferable, and arrogant young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. You know the type! The one everyone hates. The one the hero would beat into the ground to show everyone just how strong and righteous he is. Yeah. I was that guy! My fate was to be a stepping stone for the main characters, be manipulated by a Demon Prince, and die a dog's death. And the hero? The hero was the same kid I’d been bullying all this time. The one I just got into a fight with. He was supposed to be the savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And waiting at the end of it all was the final antagonist. The unbeatable nightmare. …The Spirit King. But could I even make it to the end? Could I really survive in a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that had now become my reality? “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could. But I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, altering the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains long before they could become threats — nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected by my actions? Excellent! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me. My survival. My life. My choices. “I’ll live this life with no regrets.” ...But as I soon discovered, fate wasn't so easily changed. And the price of rewriting your destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR

If I had to compare, this novel is like an underrated mom n pops chinese restaurant with the best nutritious food you've ever tasted, unlike the popular fast food 99% of the novels here are. Sure, it doesn't give those dopamine hits like those OP broken power progression we are addicted to reading over here, but it has its own charm. I'm not eloquent like Author-sama over here, but if I had to describe it, it's made to aid the story, rather than be the focus of the story itself. The story, especially at the start, may not be instantly addictive, but it grows on you and becomes better very quick, just like LOTM. I hope the author revamps the starting chapters down the line and brings it on par with the quality of the latest chapters. This is the kind of story that would linger in my mind for a long time after reading, that's how good and deep this underrated gem is. In my biased opinion, it compares to the quality level of SS and easily surpasses many top novels here (that I don't know how they are top in the first place, especially there being so many hidden gems like this one). The writing quality and grammar is ofc flawless for me to say this. At the time of writing, there are only 38 chapters in the novel, so it's in early stages right now. I'm sure that if the same quality and upload schedule persist, we will see this novel on the charts. As for other things, the characters and worldbuilding are, as mentioned before, top-quality like top novels. Alright, I've done enough glazing. Tl;dr- It's amazing, you'll miss out if you don't read. It's not a junk food novel, you'll need to stick a bit for it to charm you. You won't regret it. P.S. I read all the author notes, you cooking hard fr. And I don't like commenting, so here's a long review instead :)
