Beyond the Rift: Ben 10

The first thing I saw when I woke up was… literally nothing, like there was nothing in sight for I don't know how far, cause everything was so damn dark, I wasn't even sure if I had my eyes closed or open, that's how dark it was.

Eyes, wait shit I can feel my eyelids. The fuck, were are my arms!? After a mild existential crisis of where in the hell I was, I called down. Before this I was just you everyday ordinary first year college student studying web development and app design, now I know I wasn't the brightest but I had help from the only 2 friends I made their, I mean after highschool where I had a decent amount of friends with both genders it was weird, but I mean it makes sense right?

 I was in highschool for 5 years, and it was only my first year of college. I enjoyed anime to some extent and I liked movies but after a while I stopped watching them cause I just felt that it was set in stone. But then I found fanfictions and like anyone I was hooked on quite a few because they were almost exactly how I wanted life to be. 

Oh shit, I just realised my family?! What if I never see them again?! This scary like damn it just hit me that i'll probably never see them again. Well the only decent thing I guess is that now I don't have to constantly worry about one day waking up and losing them. Anyways my name was Matthew Quilt and I grew up in cape Town, I died at 18 from a car crash, I was hit but a car while waiting at the stop in the middle of the lanes where the stop light was, so why the fuck did I get hit aghhh. Anyways after that self reflexion, where the fuck am I?

Okay I don't know how long I've been floating here for but it's pretty cool and scary, I mean my memory in my life was terrible, like I couldn't remember my cousins birthday and had to ask people about it. But I guess since I don't have a brain I don't have limits anymore? I think? Eh, still pretty cool. Though it is pretty lonely here. 

So I think it's been about 2 years since I've come here and I've gotten pretty bored because there isn't much to do but I did find something after a lot of effort and struggles. You may ask how a person without a body struggles and I would ask the same question back because I was just baffled. But anyways I realised that well I'm a soul floating in a void (I know pretty obvious) and I realised I can sense my surroundings, like I can't do much but I have given myself arms now, so I guess soul manipulation on a minor level? It's pretty cool, I also realised that I can somewhat strengthen myself with the void, but like I swear I almost exploded the first time because I just like let it flow in and had no idea how I did it or how to stop it but I imaged I plugged a methodical bath in myself and it stopped, but since then I've realised I can observed the surroundings slowly and while doing so becoming more sturdy? Real? Or something like that. (Glad I fucking did)

One day or year I saw something and this caused me major confusion cause I hadn't seen light for who knows how long and so I thought maybe it's like those fanfictions where a ROB will finally come and reincarnate me. So like any normal person I rushed to it only to hear a deafening shout screaming, "Who dares intrude on my plane!!!"

And then all I saw was a palm of white light and the next thing I knew I felt tremendous pain and was sent hurtling god knows where. I was fucking terrified because how the hell did I feel pain without a body?!

Now there was a problem I was facing, I didn't know how to stop moving, like I thought that I would be thrown far away but I forgot that there isn't any friction here so yeah I was still moving. 

Then I hit something hard and it sounded like glass shattering. 'Why did this happen to me? All I wanted was a nice life and all but then I thought I was lucky to maybe be reincarnated and get a cheat that helps me learn fast, and if I had one real wish I wish I could have gotten the perk soul protection from the fanfic Endless transmigration. 

*Antilizing reincarnation…*

Then next thing I knew after that long series of notifications which were worrying because it seems to have kinda succeeded but then I heard another crack similar to the first one, and then I was seemingly back into the void fast approaching a crack, and where I say a crack I mean it in a literal sense. It looks like a crack on a rock with a rippling texture. Then everything went blank.

As I slowly blinked my blurry vision into focus, everything around me seemed hazy and strange. I couldn't make out shapes or colours clearly, and my senses were overwhelmed by unfamiliar sensations. It was like trying to see through foggy glasses after waking up from a deep sleep.

Then, a voice pierced through the haze. "He's breathing," an unfamiliar man in doctor's attire said, followed by a sigh of relief from a woman nearby. I couldn't quite understand what was happening, but I could sense a mixture of tension and joy in the air.

Hands gently wiped me down and cleaned me up before passing me to the woman who had sighed. She cradled me in her arms and whispered, "My precious boy." I could feel her warmth and hear the fondness in her voice as she remarked on my supposedly pretty green eyes.

As I struggled to make sense of the situation, I overheard the doctor mentioning something about my heart not beating for the first five minutes after birth. Just then it made sense to me now, I had been reincarnated into a still born A wave of relief washed over me as I realised that I hadn't taken another being's life. It was a strange feeling, knowing that I had narrowly escaped a different fate.

Just as I started to settle into this newfound existence, the door burst open, and someone exclaimed about a woman named Natalie giving birth to a girl. My supposed mother's smile widened as she held me up for the newcomer to see. The man who entered announced the name they had given the girl: Gwen.

"Gwen Tennyson," my mother repeated, the name rolling off her tongue with a certain elegance. I couldn't help but wonder who this Gwen was and why her name sounded so familiar.

The man's gaze shifted to me, and for some reason he reminded me of someone I saw a long time ago, like idk a video or picture? Just then I learned that my new mothers name was Sandra when the man asked my mother what my name was, and when she replied "Ben Tennyson," no way right? It can't be, it started to make sense, Gwen Tennyson and ben Tennyson, Sandra and Natalia it just made sense. I had somehow reincarnated or my soul had been reincarnated into a still born version of Ben Tennyson, the iconic alien wielding hero from my past life. I couldn't wait to explore this new world and see what adventures awaited me as Ben Tennyson especially I couldn't wait to get the Omnitrix.
