The dark room

Azalea's eyes started to open, and as she looked around the room, she understood that she was no longer in the church. "N.Naomi," Azalea whispered. Azalea sat up. She was lying on a cold hard floor inside a dark, musty room. The walls had cracks, and it looked like the furniture in the room was starting to rot. She looked around more and spotted a door; because the room was so dark, the door blended in with the old, cracked walls. Azalea stood up and placed her hands on the wall. She followed the wall to the door and tried pulling and pushing the door open. "Come on!" Azalea shouted as she struggled to get the door open. "Why won't you budge?". Azalea backed away from the door and looked around for something to open the door. She spotted a crowbar on the floor next to a metal bed frame. Azalea quickly grabbed the crowbar and tried to pry the door open. After a while, she dropped the crowbar and fell to the ground. 'What am I going to do? Where am I?' she thought to herself.

After sitting there for what felt like forever, Azalea got up and started banging on the door. She thought that maybe someone had brought her there and might help her get out of the room. She stood there banging and yelling for help with no results. "I am going to die here," she said to herself. Time passed, and Azalea paced back and forth around the room. After a while, she lay on the floor and closed her eyes. "Someone? Anyone?" She shouted again. Azalea excepted her fate, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

"Azalea?" a girl's voice rang through Azalea's head. "Azalea!" the voice shouted again. Azalea opened her eyes, and to her surprise, the girl who warned her and Naomi was standing above her shaking her awake. "Veronica?" Azalea said. "Yeah, you passed out; where is Naomi?" Veronica said. Azalea sat up, looking around. She was back in the church in the same spot she had passed out before! "How?!" Azalea gasped in shock. "I ... I was in a room," she said, looking at Veronica. "A room?" Veronica said. "Yeah, it was dark, cold, and there was no one there," Azalea explained. Veronica helped Azalea up and helped get the dirt off her skirt and sweatshirt. "Azalea, I am being serious now! Where is Naomi?" Veronica said in a harsh tone. "Naomi?" Azalea said, still trying to figure out how she got from that dark room back to the church. "Yes, Naomi! Where is she?" Veronica's tone started to become more agitated. "She. I ... she was right there .. and uhm she?" Azalea's memory appeared foggy, and she could not recall the events.

"Azalea, we need to find Naomi! This church isn't safe." Veronica said in a desperate tone.

"I am sorry I do not know where she is, Veronica" As Azalea said, flashes of memories from Naomi falling into the hole became clear. "VERONICA!" Azalea said, running over to where Naomi was standing before dropping into the hole. "She was right here, and then this massive hole opened up, and she fell in!" Azalea exclaimed. Veronica frowned and crossed her arms. "Azalea, now is not the time to mess around!" Veronica's tone became more aggressive. "I am not lying; I remember now; I swear she fell in!" Azalea shouted.

"You don't believe me, do you?" Azalea asked. "I saw her fall in." Azalea started to shed tears of sorrow. Veronica sighed and then walked over to Azalea. She looked at Azalea, her deep dark blue eyes staring into Azalea's brown eyes. "Azalea, what is wrong with you?!" yelled Veronica. Azaleas' tears started to pour down her eyes uncontrollably. "Why does no one ever believe me?!" Azalea asked in fury. Veronica turned and started walking out of the church. "Where are you going?" Azalea shouted to her. "To find my best friend!" yelled Veronica. "Come or don't come. Honestly, I do not need a liar who won't help find her own best friend coming with me." Veronica sneered. Azalea put her hands over her eyes in hopelessness and started bawling. "Oh Naomi, where are you?".
