At Luca's invitation, Gavin entered the pub with him, intending to have a drink and learn about the situation outside to plan his next move.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Gavin asked Luca directly about the situation in Essos. Luca, who had been staying in Oldtown's port to recuperate after Gavin's rescue, admitted that he didn't know much about the recent news from Essos. However, he was quite familiar with the Narrow Sea's situation due to his extended stay in the port. He advised Gavin against traveling to Essos at this time.

From Luca's detailed explanation, Gavin learned about the current chaos in the Narrow Sea. The region was perilous, with the Saan family, a prominent pirate lord, unexpectedly defeated by the new pirate king, the Black Shark "Earl." Consequently, the Saan family had to retreat with the remnants of their fleet to Lys. Meanwhile, the Black Shark "Earl" was working relentlessly to eradicate the Saan family's remaining forces on the Stepstone Islands, plunging the area into extreme disorder.

Merchant ships, which previously traveled safely after paying tolls, were now being attacked indiscriminately. The merchants were in peril, and the trade routes around the Stepstone Islands were in jeopardy. Additionally, the ambitious Black Shark "Earl" had clashed with the Dornish, leading to multiple battles over control of the western part of the Stepstone Islands. Any ship passing through the area risked being sunk, and the conflict showed no signs of abating soon.

Given the ongoing war around the Stepstone Islands, ships departing from Oldtown to Essos were rare and highly risky. Luca suggested that if Gavin was determined to travel to Essos, the best route would be to go to King's Landing first and then take a boat to Pentos. This route would be safer due to King's Landing's busy port and the royal fleet's regular cruises, making the journey to Pentos more stable.

Considering Luca's advice, Gavin contemplated the options. Traveling from Oldtown to King's Landing would take nearly two months. Normally, it would only take about two months to sail directly from Oldtown to Tyrosh, the nearest destination in Essos. This meant that going via King's Landing would not only be a longer and more circuitous journey but also more time-consuming.

Gavin weighed the pros and cons of the two routes before deciding. He looked at Luca and asked, "Although there are few ships departing from Oldtown, are there any that are about to leave? Can you help me contact them?" He then placed several coins on the table with a clink.

"Certainly," Luca replied eagerly. "Due to the war on the Stepstone Islands, ships transporting goods across have become highly profitable. Naturally, many are willing to take the risk." Luca's eyes gleamed with greed as he pocketed the coins.

Gavin requested paper and a pen from the waiter, quickly wrote down the address of his hotel, and handed it to Luca. "If you find any news, come here and find me. If I'm not around, leave a message with the hotel staff. I will pay you once the matter is resolved."

"Don't worry, Luca will bring you good news soon," Luca said excitedly, his voice tinged with anticipation.

The next morning, Gavin was surprised to see Luca again. Luca's face was radiant with joy as he announced, "I found a merchant ship willing to set sail, though their destination is Lys. They won't depart for another five days. If you agree, I can take you to meet the ship's owner."

Gavin considered the timeline and realized it would take three to four days to prepare all the necessary materials. He agreed immediately, saying, "Alright, I won't accompany you. You can handle the arrangements with the shipowner. I'm asking for a private room and am willing to pay extra for the fare."

After sending Luca on his way, Gavin began his preparations.

Five days later, Gavin and the Blood Dragon Guard boarded a merchant ship named the "Golden Fleece." Both Gavin and the Blood Dragon Guard wore lightweight leather armor suited for sea travel, their armor detailed and shimmering in the sunlight. Each carried a sword, with Gavin's sword hilt inlaid with gems and its scabbard intricately carved. Gavin also carried a quiver with five hard bows for potential combat.

As Gavin stood on the ship with the Blood Dragon Guard, he looked solemnly toward Oldtown. The Blood Dragon Guard carried a large box containing potions and ritual materials that Gavin had meticulously prepared.

In the early morning sunshine, Oldtown appeared quiet and mysterious. The golden sunlight bathed the ancient buildings and winding streets in a warm glow, while the distant hills merged with the blue sky, creating a picturesque scene. The sea breeze carried a salty scent, and the waves gently lapped against the ship's hull.

As the merchant ship slowly set sail, Gavin took one last look at Oldtown before turning to face the sea breeze and walking toward the cabin, where he encountered the ship's owner.

"I didn't expect to see you, Sir Gavin. I am Frank Brown, the owner of this ship," the middle-aged man introduced himself. He wore an exquisite robe with emerald buttons gleaming in the sunlight and a large gemstone ring on his hand, indicating his wealth. He had a well-placed smile on his lips.

Gavin, curious about the owner's familiarity, bowed slightly and asked, "Hello, Mr. Frank. Do you know me?"

Frank laughed warmly and replied, "Sir Gavin, I had the pleasure of watching your competition in Highgarden. I later heard of your knighthood. It is truly an honor to have you aboard my ship. With a master like you on board, I have no worries about the safety of this voyage. Might I invite you to lunch later?"

Gavin smiled in response. "I am honored by your invitation. Allow me to store my luggage in the cabin first, and I will join you for lunch at noon."

Frank nodded. "Of course, Sir Gavin. I look forward to your arrival in the captain's cabin."

---

At noon, Gavin arrived at the appointment on time. While chatting with Frank, Captain Hassan, and others, he learned about the specifics of the voyage.

Due to Frank's recent agreement with the Governor of Lys, the goods must be delivered to Lys within three months, or he risks having his property in Lys confiscated and facing bankruptcy. He had no choice but to undertake this voyage.

According to Captain Hassan, after navigating through the Summer Sea, they would try to circumnavigate the Dorne Broken Arm area to avoid the conflict zone. The ship would then head south directly to the destination, avoiding any fresh water replenishment on the Stepstone Islands.

To this end, the ship carried three times the usual amount of water and provisions, but it would be traversing less familiar and potentially stormy waters.

At night, Gavin lay in the swaying cabin, hearing the sound of waves lapping against the ship's side and the creaking of wood.

His thoughts drifted in the darkness, contemplating the potential dangers of the journey. Enhanced strength was his greatest asset. As long as he was strong enough, he felt confident in his ability to handle any challenges.

He opened his panel and allocated the 3 energy points obtained from the Heartbreaker Sword to improve his archery skills, raising them to the master level.

Seeing that the energy points were depleted again, Gavin felt a pang of anxiety regarding the dragon bones. He planned to see if he could buy some after reaching Lys or wait until he was stronger and explore the dragon lair in Belaerys, where he would surely find dragon bones.

In the following days, Gavin's ship, the Golden Fleece, sailed smoothly on the Summer Sea. The vast sea resembled a huge sheet of blue silk, with gentle ripples stirred by the breeze. The sky was as blue as a gem, dotted with fluffy white clouds. The sun's golden rays glistened on the water.

Flocks of seagulls circled the ship, their clear and melodious calls adding a lively touch to the tranquil sea. As the ship moved farther from the mainland, the seabirds gradually disappeared, leaving only the occasional fish jumping out of the water, their scales sparkling in the sunlight. Gavin even found a fishing rod and spent his days leisurely fishing, enjoying the rare calm.

One day, as Gavin was fishing by the side of the boat, he spotted three indistinct black shapes on the horizon.

Initially puzzled, Gavin focused intently as the figures became clearer, revealing themselves as three black longships sailing menacingly toward the Golden Fleece. At that moment, the lookout sounded the alarm with a look of horror.

"Dang! Dang! Dang!" The rapid ringing of the bell shattered the ship's calm, plunging the merchant vessel into chaos. Sailors ran about in panic, discarding tools and clattering into each other.

Captain Hassan burst from his quarters, his face flushed with anger, shouting, "Don't panic! Prepare for battle!"

The crew scrambled to arm themselves. Some could not find their swords in the confusion, while others grabbed harpoons by mistake. The scene was chaotic.

Frank, pale and anxious, joined the captain on the deck. As the shadow of the approaching ships grew closer, Frank's lips trembled as he muttered, "Please don't let them be pirates, please don't let them be pirates."

Gavin walked over, noting Frank's trembling and then looking at the composed Captain Hassan. He asked, "If they are indeed pirates, can we still avoid them? They're still quite far off."

The captain frowned, observing the approaching ships, and replied, "It's too late. The wind is against us, and turning now would only make us more vulnerable. Our ship is slower, and the opposing ships are known for their speed."

Gavin's expression turned serious. "Then we must fight. We don't stand a chance of winning if we don't."

Hearing this, Frank's body shook even more, and he lamented, "What should I do? My goods, my family..."

Gavin patted Frank's shoulder reassuringly. "Don't panic. If we must fight, we still have a chance."

Gavin quickly returned to his cabin, and with the Blood Dragon Guard's help, donned his leather armor, prepared his weapons, and grasped his longbow, readying himself for battle.

As the three ships approached, Gavin saw the formidable ballistas mounted on their bows and the fierce faces of the pirates.

The sea breeze howled, causing the flags to flap noisily, heightening the tension in Gavin's heart.

The enemy ships circled the Golden Fleece at high speeds, surrounding it but not yet boarding.

After speaking with Captain Hassan, Gavin learned that the enemy's flag belonged to the newly emerged pirate king, Black Shark "Earl," though he was unsure if the Pirate Lord was leading the attack himself or if it was his men.

Gavin tightly gripped his longbow and calculated the range. Suddenly, a pirate longship fired a crossbow with a rope, hitting the right side of the Golden Fleece. Another pirate ship soon followed with a crossbow shot into the port side of the Golden Fleece.

After these initial attacks, the pirate ships did not advance further, but the pirates continued to wave their flags, which fluttered ominously in the wind like devilish grins.

Gavin's eyes narrowed in frustration. "Damn it, the range of the flaming arrow is insufficient. While the bow and arrow could reach them, shooting against the crossbow would be suicide. I fear the Blood Dragon Guards might not withstand the assault."

Gavin watched the changing flag signals with growing unease, glancing at Hassan, who remained serious and tense.

Frank paced nervously, muttering, "What should I do? This is a disaster, a complete disaster."

The sea breeze intensified, making everyone's clothes flap and causing the Golden Fleece to feel like it was ensnared by invisible claws.

---

At night, under the watch of three pirate ships, the Golden Fleece slowly sailed towards the Stone Steps Islands. At this time, Gavin finally learned the meaning of the flag signal from Captain Hassan.

The pirates demanded that the Golden Fleece follow them to the Stone Steps Islands, or they would use crossbows to sink the ship.

Faced with such a ruthless tactic, Gavin felt powerless. He clenched his fists in frustration but knew there was little he could do. The pirates had not engaged in a boarding action, and even with his strength, Gavin could not reach them.

The moonlight cast silver-white patches on the sea but did little to illuminate the dark situation. Gavin stared at the pirate ships looming in the distance, his mind racing with thoughts on how to deal with the situation.

The next day at dusk, Gavin saw an island in the distance. Through Hassan's introduction, he learned that they had reached the edge of the Stepstone Islands.

The setting sun cast a golden glow on the mysterious island. Gavin leaned on the side of the boat, staring ahead with vigilance.

Captain Hassan said solemnly, "If my guess is correct, we are now in Shipwreck Bay. It's full of reefs and has only one channel to enter. Inside is a huge natural deep-water port. I've heard it's the shipbuilding base of the Black Shark 'Earl'."

"It seems they're not just looking to rob us. They've taken us here to hijack the ship and its cargo," Gavin replied calmly.

Hassan, worried, said, "That's likely. The Black Shark 'Earl' has grand ambitions. We might be broken up and absorbed into his fleet, turning us into pirates."

Feeling helpless, Gavin decided to return to his quarters. Hassan's description matched his own thoughts. If the crew cooperated, they might survive, but Frank Brown, having lost everything, would likely face severe consequences.

Gavin considered his plan. He would attempt to jump off the ship and escape once near the island. Though unsure of the exact number of pirates, he knew that staying on the ship would leave him at their mercy. He resolved to launch a guerrilla campaign on the island.

With his strength, Gavin could handle twenty or thirty unarmored men, and with the Blood Dragon Guard and his bow and arrows, he could take on even more. He also had enough blood witch puppet ritual materials to create an army if needed.

Determined to be in control of his fate, Gavin prepared supplies and food, readying himself for a period in the wild.

Just as Gavin completed his preparations, the ship erupted into chaos with shouts and confusion.

On reaching the deck, Gavin saw Frank Brown lying in a pool of blood, his heart pierced by a sword. The first mate, holding a bloodied sword, stood next to him, clearly the murderer.

Captain Hassan arrived, furious, and shouted at the first mate.

Gavin observed coldly. Through the ensuing chaos, he learned that Frank had intended to set the ship ablaze in Shipwreck Bay to prevent the pirates from seizing his assets and to target other ships in the port. With no support from the crew, Frank had attempted it himself and ultimately met his end.

Understanding the situation, Gavin drew his sword.

Although Frank's death was a result of his own recklessness, Gavin was determined to avenge him.

Seeing Gavin draw his sword, the bickering crew fell silent. The first mate, looking at Gavin with disdain, said, "So, Sir Gavin, are you here for revenge?"

Gavin approached steadily, "Yes. Regardless of his mistakes, you rebelled and killed your patron. That is not acceptable."

The first mate sneered and ordered his men, "Strip this knight and throw him into the sea."

As the sailors drew their weapons, the Blood Dragon Guard charged forward like unleashed beast.

With lightning speed, he struck down the sailors in their path.

The sailors were knocked aside or struck down with brutal efficiency, their screams filling the air.

Gavin advanced to the first mate. With agility, he dodged the mate's attacks and swiftly slashed at his sword-holding hand.

The first mate's hand shattered, and he fell, pale and screaming.

Gavin took advantage of the moment and kicked the first mate's knee, causing him to collapse.

Meanwhile, the Blood Dragon Guard continued to decimate the sailors with their powerful attacks.

Gavin approached the first mate, his expression cold and resolute.

In a flash, he beheaded the first mate, blood spraying across the deck, turning it red.

The people around were stunned by the bloody and brutal scene, their breaths caught in shock.

After such a swift and bloody attack, no one on the ship dared to approach Gavin, especially the Blood Dragon Guard standing beside him.

When the silent, red-eyed guard first boarded the ship, many sailors had mocked him behind his back, speculating he might be a fool. But now, everyone avoided him, steering clear of the terrifying red-eyed figure.

Ignoring the frightened Captain Hassan, Gavin quickly climbed to the steering wheel on the second deck.

Seeing Gavin approach, the helmsman was terrified and tried to flee, but Gavin grabbed his shoulder and said, "It's none of your concern. Just steer the ship!" The sky was dimming, and Gavin observed the situation calmly.

The ship had entered a narrow channel near a cliff, with the distance between the two less than 100 meters and closing in.

The four ships were positioned along the narrow channel. Of the three pirate ships, only the crossbow positioned behind the Golden Fleece posed a threat.

Gavin's sharp eyes quickly assessed the distance and realized the long ship had just entered the range of the flaming arrow.

His heartbeat quickened. He decided swiftly and drew his bow, focusing on finding the right moment.

He knew he needed to destroy the only crossbow that could threaten him and then jump off the ship at the critical moment to ensure his escape.

The coast drew closer, revealing a gentle slope and numerous reefs between the channel and the shore.

The nearest reef was only ten meters away. Gavin's mind raced, and an idea flashed in his eyes.

The Blood Dragon Guard swiftly climbed the lookout pole. Gavin drew his bow and aimed at the crossbow behind him. An arrow of flames appeared on the bow and was shot out, cutting through the air.

"Boom!" A massive explosion erupted, destroying the crossbow and sending the two pirates guarding it into the sea.

Without hesitation, Gavin shot another flaming arrow, severing the thick lookout pole in half. The pole, with the Blood Dragon Guard on top, fell towards the reef.

As it neared the sea, the Blood Dragon Guard leaped onto the reef with precision.

Gavin quickly followed, using the long pole as leverage to jump onto the reef.

They used the reef as a springboard to propel themselves towards the island.

The process was lightning-fast, leaving everyone on the Golden Fleece stunned. Though the pirate ship behind spotted Gavin's escape, they were powerless to stop him.

The explosion had left them wary, preventing them from approaching the bow. Gavin successfully reached the island unscathed.

He climbed the gentle slope and waited, hoping the pirates would chase him in a small boat. But as the four ships slowly sailed away and disappeared behind a cliff, Gavin's hopes were dashed. He turned and walked into the island's depths.

That night, in a sheltered valley, Gavin started a bonfire. Sea fish sizzled on the flames, and the crackling fire accompanied his thoughts.

The first step of his plan had gone smoothly, but the next steps were crucial.

He considered capturing a few pirates to resolve issues with the puppets and gather information, as he was currently in the dark.

Suddenly, rustling sounds came from the bushes, and the Blood Dragon Guard approached. Gavin realized the pirates' lair was about an hour away.

Gavin had discovered the Blood Dragon Guard's telepathic ability by accident. It wasn't listed on the panel, but its usefulness was extraordinary.

Initially, the Blood Dragon Guard was hidden and used as a laborer. During the ship battle, Gavin had intended to give a verbal command, but the guard had acted on his unspoken thoughts.

After arriving on the island, Gavin tested the ability and found he didn't need to speak. As long as the Blood Dragon Guard was within thirty steps, it could receive silent commands. Even at a greater distance, eye contact sufficed.

Now that the location was determined, things would be easier. Gavin, satisfied and full, planned to sleep well. The pirates couldn't escape, and the situation had shifted to his advantage.

The next morning, Gavin woke slowly. The island's early light was soft and warm, the breeze carrying the salty scent of the ocean, rustling the surrounding grass.

Breathing in the fresh air, Gavin felt relaxed and refreshed.

He stretched, his joints cracking. "Time to get to work," he said to himself, his eyes cold with determination.

Meanwhile, in a wooden house in Shipwreck Bay:

"Shoot an arrow made of fire? I don't believe you, keep whipping!" The voice was calm but laced with intense fury.

"No, sir, I didn't lie, I saw it myself... ah... no... I didn't... ah." Before he could finish, the whip lashed out with a sharp hiss, striking him repeatedly.

If Gavin were present, he would recognize the wailing man as the helmsman from the previous night.

Black Shark "Earl" ignored the helmsman's cries and walked out of the wooden house. A scar-faced pirate hurried after him, "Boss, do you think he's telling the truth?"

"It seems true; he doesn't look like a liar." Black Shark "Earl" did not turn back but stared calmly at the port. "We'll confirm it soon."

---

After a while, a pirate trotted over and handed two broken bows to Black Shark "Earl."

The broken ends of the bows showed clear signs of being burned. Black Shark "Earl," examining the bows, glanced at the scarred face behind him and said coolly, "It seems a formidable individual has arrived on the island. Find him alive, and be cautious—he still has three bows."

Gavin stood on the cliff, surveying Shipwreck Bay below.

This was not the natural deep-water port Captain Hassan had described. Perhaps his information was outdated.

A broad dock made of stone stretched out, with over thirty ships occupying half the space, and even a large dry dock. From Gavin's vantage point, he could see some ships being constructed. A wooden camp, connected to the dock, lacked walls but was surrounded by wooden towers for warning and observation.

Suddenly, Gavin spotted a group of dozens of pirates emerging from the town, armed and menacing.

They spread out as they moved, dividing into three groups: two teams advanced towards the island, while one traveled along the coast where Gavin was.

Seeing the pirates' intimidating approach, Gavin decided to stay away from their base camp and ambush this group instead.

He retreated, stopping intermittently and waiting patiently to keep track of the pirates' movements, ensuring he controlled every action of the enemy.

Time passed slowly. By noon, the pirates were visibly exhausted and found a forest for shelter. They prepared to rest there.

Noting the situation, Gavin ordered the Blood Dragon Guard to flank them from behind to prevent any escape. He himself readied his bow and arrows, moving cautiously towards the pirates' location.

Perhaps due to their exhaustion and familiarity with the island as their base, half of the pirates lay down without suspicion, while the rest sat and rested, neglecting to set up any warnings.

Gavin quietly drew his bow, targeting a pirate separated from the group. With a swift "whoosh," the arrow shot out like lightning, striking the pirate's neck. The pirate fell before he could even scream.

Before the pirates realized what was happening, Gavin fired another arrow, hitting a pirate in the throat. Blood splattered onto a nearby pirate's face, causing him to jump up in terror.

The entire group fell into chaos. Another arrow struck the pirate who had screamed, hitting him in the eye. Panic spread through the pirates.

The ones lying on the ground scrambled up, attempting to fight back, but were caught off guard. Many pirates were shot down by Gavin's arrows before they could even raise their weapons.

The surviving pirates fled in panic, seeking cover. Anyone attempting to escape was picked off one by one by Gavin's precise shots.

Screams filled the air, and fleeing figures fell one after another.

However, two pirates used the confusion to sneak into the bushes behind, hoping to evade Gavin's shots.

Gavin ignored them. At this point, only three pirates remained hidden behind trees, unable to make a move under Gavin's relentless assault.

Seeing the situation, Gavin sheathed his bow and drew his sword, charging towards the pirates behind the trees with fierce speed. His goal was to capture a few alive for crucial information.

In a remarkably short period, more than ten pirates had been reduced to just three. The pirates were overwhelmed with fear and could only defend themselves as Gavin closed in.

With a flash of his sword, Gavin knocked two pirates unconscious. The remaining pirate knelt and surrendered.

At that moment, the Blood Dragon Guards emerged from the bushes with two captured pirates in tow. They were the two who had previously escaped.

Gavin's eyes were intense as he addressed the kneeling pirate, "I will question you now. Do not lie—if you do, I'll knock you out and interrogate your companions instead."

Trembling, the pirate stammered, "Sir, I will not lie. Please forgive me. I will tell the truth."

Gavin, maintaining a serious demeanor, asked, "How many people are in your camp?"

The pirate replied, "Sir, there are probably over two thousand people in the camp now."

Gavin frowned and inquired further, "Are they all pirates?"

The captured pirate hurriedly explained, "There are hundreds of slaves bought by Black Shark 'Earl' specifically for shipbuilding, and hundreds of natives from the island. The rest are pirates."

Gavin asked, "Is Black Shark 'Earl' in the camp?"

The pirate nodded vigorously, "Yes, sir, he's the one who sent us to find you."

After a few more questions, Gavin knocked the pirate unconscious. He then revived the other two pirates and repeated the questioning.

After interrogating the three pirates separately, Gavin had a clear understanding of the island's situation.

This was an unnamed island, with only the bay full of reefs known as Shipwreck Bay.

The rest of the island was cliffs, making it difficult to land elsewhere. Black Shark "Earl" used this location as a base camp to build and repair ships.

Black Shark "Earl" commanded over seventy ships, spread across several nearby islands. Shipwreck Bay hosted only ten pirate ships capable of movement; the rest were merchant ships and some damaged vessels recently recaptured.

Black Shark "Earl" planned to repurpose these ships to compensate for losses from recent conflicts with the Dornish.

The camp had around 1,000 pirates, over 300 slaves bought from Slave Bay specifically for shipbuilding, and some native residents serving the pirates.

With a clear understanding of the situation, Gavin planned to enhance his strength with more Blood Dragon Guards. Given that the pirate team was reported missing, it might take a day for the enemy to send search parties. He intended to produce two more Blood Dragon Guards within this time.

---

After making the decision, Gavin set to work immediately. He quickly selected two tall corpses and, as the Blood Dragon Guards secured the three pirates together, Gavin took out the ritual materials he had prepared and began the blood witch puppet ceremony.

In the horrified eyes of the three captive pirates, a chilling spectacle unfolded as a long-dead corpse rose to its feet.

By evening, Gavin had successfully created two Blood Dragon Guards. The sky darkened, and the atmosphere grew increasingly somber.

The newly created Blood Dragon Guards stood silently, awaiting Gavin's command.

The three tied pirates were nearly driven to the brink of collapse by their fear, their eyes reflecting despair.

Gavin, having performed the ritual twice, was also exhausted. The strain was not due to physical or mental fatigue, but because each ritual required a significant amount of his own blood. It would take at least two days for him to fully recover.

Given this, he could not afford to wait for another ritual.

Following Gavin's orders, the Blood Dragon Guards knocked out the captives, each carrying a prisoner, and quickly disappeared into the night with Gavin.

In the dimly lit hall, Black Shark "Earl" frowned as he listened to his subordinates' reports.

"Boss, the team we sent hasn't returned and there's no word from them. They were tasked with searching the coast," one subordinate reported nervously.

Black Shark "Earl" remained calm but exuded a commanding presence. He responded, "It seems the enemy hasn't penetrated deeply into the island. Send more people this time to strengthen the search along the coast."

At that moment, another subordinate rushed in, breathless and alarmed, "Boss, the team we sent found traces of the missing group, but... there are only eight bodies, most killed by arrows."

Black Shark "Earl"'s expression darkened. He commanded fiercely, "Bring archers and gather all the armor available. Do not capture them alive. Kill them on sight and bring their heads back to me!"

The hall filled with a tense, oppressive atmosphere as the subordinates fell silent, not daring to speak.

By dusk the next day, Gavin and his team moved cautiously deeper into the dense forest with the captives.

Gavin felt weak and, despite using a quick-healing potion, found it ineffective for replenishing his lost blood. The potion could only heal external injuries.

Retreating into the dense forest was a necessary measure, as yesterday's actions had heightened the pirates' alertness.

Through reconnaissance by the Blood Dragon Guards, Gavin learned that the enemy had dispatched over 100 pirates, many equipped with various forms of protection and shields, including full-body plate armor. It was clear the pirates had quickly adapted to his archery skills.

Given his current strength, Gavin knew it was unwise to force a confrontation with such a well-prepared force.

It was better to avoid direct conflict, wait for some recovery, and create three more Blood Dragon Guards before launching a counterattack.

With fewer numbers but greater mobility, and having captives familiar with the island, Gavin had a significant advantage.

During this period, Gavin and his team adeptly evaded multiple pirate search parties.

Under his coercion and inducement, the captives led them to a more secluded location. By nightfall, Gavin and his team found a secure cave for temporary refuge.

Two days later, the pirates, frustrated by their inability to locate Gavin, grew increasingly desperate.

The pirates had completed a search of the entire coastline and began a more intensive search deeper into the island, doubling their manpower.

Gavin, pale and weakened, rested against the stone wall, observing the six Blood Dragon Guards in front of him. He smiled inwardly, thinking, "It's time to strike back."

Gavin and the Blood Dragon Guards, like shadows, navigated the dense forest, skillfully avoiding large pirate groups and moving towards a small, isolated team.

They held their breath, blending with the darkness, their cold eyes fixed on the target, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

In the heart of the dense forest, a pirate team of twenty struggled through the underbrush.

"This damned forest, these mosquitoes are unbearable!" complained a bearded pirate, swatting at the insects.

"Tell me about it! I don't understand why the superiors sent us here," echoed a tall, thin pirate, irritation evident on his face.

"Once we catch that guy, he'll regret it!" another burly pirate declared, angrily hacking at a tree trunk with his knife.

"Right, I want him to suffer," another pirate added, cursing angrily.

They continued forward, oblivious to the impending danger.

Suddenly, an arrow struck the leading pirate in the throat.

Panic ensued among the pirates. They raised their shields and the two archers drew their bows, trying to locate Gavin, but before they could react, Gavin's arrows felled them.

Simultaneously, two Blood Dragon Guards emerged from behind the team, attacking from the rear. Another two Blood Dragon Guards flanked from the sides, further disorienting the pirates.

"Ah! We're under attack!" the pirates shouted in fear, falling into chaos.

The Blood Dragon Guards, agile and precise, wielded their weapons with lethal efficiency in the dim light.

In the confusion, a pirate attempted to defend himself but had his knife shattered by a Blood Dragon Guard's strike. The guard then split the pirate in half, blood spraying everywhere.

Another Blood Dragon Guard, despite being stabbed in the back by a pirate, remained unaffected. The guard swiftly retaliated, crushing the pirate's neck with a powerful grip.

The sight of this terrorized the remaining pirates, their fear evident as they witnessed the brutal efficiency of the Blood Dragon Guards.

____

A Blood Dragon Guard was surrounded by several pirates but showed no fear. He moved left and right, striking with punches and kicks. Despite the pirates' attempts to hit him, they could not halt his advance.

One pirate took advantage of the Blood Dragon Guard's momentary distraction and attacked from behind, driving a long sword into his back. However, the Blood Dragon Guard seemed unaffected. He sidestepped and retaliated with a backhanded punch to the pirate's chest, breaking his sternum and causing him to bleed to death.

Faced with such a relentless and seemingly invincible foe, the pirates' courage waned, and fear quickly spread among them.

Soon, the pirate team was annihilated. The Blood Dragon Guard carried two unconscious pirates and swiftly returned to Gavin.

Without a word, Gavin signaled with a wave of his hand for them to flee immediately. The group quickly disappeared into the dense forest.

Meanwhile, other pirates, alerted by the sounds of battle, rushed to the scene.

However, Gavin and his team had already maneuvered through the encirclement and were heading towards the coast.

Ten days later, Gavin stood on a cliff overlooking Shipwreck Bay, surveying the pirate camp below. Behind him stood fifteen Blood Dragon Guards, eight of whom were clad in full plate armor.

During this period, Gavin had successfully eliminated over a hundred pirates using guerrilla tactics and had seized a significant amount of equipment.

With each battle, Gavin's strength grew, and with the increasing number of Blood Dragon Guards, he often did not need to engage directly in combat.

Two days ago, the pirates ceased their searches and retreated to their camp.

The complete annihilation of each group had kept the pirates unaware of the full extent of the Blood Dragon Guards' numbers.

Gavin was unsure whether the pirates had chosen to avoid dealing with him temporarily or were preparing for a larger operation. Regardless, it did not concern him at the moment.

Gavin carefully observed the enemy camp, contemplating a night attack, and then opened the panel to review his information.

The night enveloped Shipwreck Bay like a heavy curtain, the darkness seeming to swallow everything.

Gavin led the fifteen Blood Dragon Guards, moving like phantoms in the dark, quietly approaching the pirate town.

These fifteen Blood Dragon Guards, emotionless and impervious to pain, were mere puppets of flesh and blood, carrying out Gavin's orders with unwavering resolve. They were an indomitable force in Gavin's hands.

The pirate town was eerily quiet at night. With no protective walls or barriers, only a few wooden towers stood isolated. The pirates on guard were dozing, unaware of the impending danger.

Gavin led the way, seamlessly blending with the night. Every step was light and agile, as if guided by the wind.

He nocked an arrow to his strong bow, the shaft glinting in the faint moonlight. Aimed at a pirate on a wooden tower, his eyes were steely with intent.

The bowstring thrummed softly, and the arrow streaked through the night, piercing the pirate's throat with a sharp whistle.

The pirate fell from the tower before he could even cry out. Gavin swiftly notched another arrow, eliminating another pirate in his sleep.

With the threat from the towers neutralized, Gavin and his team stealthily infiltrated the town.

Using information from previous interrogations, Gavin proceeded directly to the location of Black Shark "Earl."

They moved cautiously through the shadows, carefully avoiding patrols, until they reached the center of the town, where a large wooden hall came into view.

The hall, constructed from thick, aged logs, bore the marks of time and smelled of old wood.

Divided into two sections—front and back—the hall served as a meeting place in the front and the residence of Black Shark "Earl" in the rear.

Gavin surveyed the area for any abnormalities, then instructed the Blood Dragon Guards. Six guards remained at the entrance to guard against reinforcements.

Taking a deep breath, Gavin's eyes hardened with determination as he and the remaining Blood Dragon Guards burst through the door and stormed inside.

The hall was filled with the unpleasant scent of alcohol and sweat.

Gavin's eyes quickly scanned the room, spotting several guards who had just awoken, groggy and disoriented. Before they could reach their weapons, Gavin's sword flashed with deadly precision, killing one guard instantly and spilling blood onto the floor.

The Blood Dragon Guards, merciless and ferocious, attacked the enemies with brutal efficiency.

Some guards wielded giant swords, cleaving through enemies and scattering their entrails, while others used their immense strength to lift and slam opponents to the ground, shattering bones and causing instant death.

The hall quickly became a scene of chaos and carnage, with blood and screams filling the air as Gavin and the Blood Dragon Guards wiped out the defenders.

Gavin pressed on, making his way to the back of the hall.

The Blood Dragon Guards kicked open the rear door, and Gavin followed closely behind. Inside, Gavin finally saw his target—Black Shark "Earl."

The commotion outside had clearly roused him. He was dressed in pajamas but had already armed himself with a sword and assumed a defensive stance.

Black Shark "Earl" regarded Gavin and the Blood Dragon Guards with a puzzled expression. "Gavin Belaerys?" he inquired. Gavin smiled and replied, "That's correct. You are the Pirate King, Black Shark 'Earl,' aren't you?"

Black Shark "Earl" stared at the Blood Dragon Guards beside Gavin, his expression troubled. "It seems you didn't end up on the island by accident. You came here intentionally. Who hired you? The Saan family?"

Gavin's lips curled into a disdainful smile. "No one hired me. Thanks to you, I did end up here, but it was all on my own accord."

_----

Black Shark "Earl" laughed in anger. "Surprised? My men reported that only two of you made it to the island. How many do you have now? No wonder everyone I sent out has disappeared." With that, he swung his sword and charged at Gavin.

Gavin deftly dodged sideways, as Black Shark "Earl"'s sword struck the wooden pillar beside him, sending sawdust flying. The Blood Dragon Guards quickly surrounded Black Shark "Earl," trapping him in the center.

Black Shark "Earl" roared and swung his sword wildly, trying to break free from the encirclement.

Observing the trapped Black Shark "Earl," Gavin gave a calm order: "Knock him out; I want him alive."

Without hesitation, one of the Blood Dragon Guards struck the back of Black Shark "Earl"'s neck with a powerful blow. Black Shark "Earl" felt darkness overcome him and collapsed, unconscious.

Gavin approached, glanced at the unconscious Black Shark "Earl," and said, "Carry him away. We're heading to the front." The Blood Dragon Guards swiftly complied, lifting Black Shark "Earl" and following Gavin as they evacuated the room.

Outside, the pirate camp was in disarray.

A patrol of pirates, hearing the commotion from the hall, hurried toward it in alarm.

At the hall's entrance, Gavin's Blood Dragon Guards stood like statues, exuding a chilling presence.

When the patrol arrived, scimitars drawn, the Blood Dragon Guards sprang into action.

One pirate charged, swinging a scimitar. The Blood Dragon Guard dodged and delivered a powerful punch to the pirate's abdomen, causing him to double over in pain. Seizing the scimitar, the Blood Dragon Guard swung it back, blood gushing from the pirate's neck.

The remaining pirates roared and rushed in, only to be met by the fierce resistance of the Blood Dragon Guards. The clash of metal rang through the night as blood stained the ground.

The commotion drew more pirates, who arrived with torches, adding light to the bloody scene. The new arrivals shouted disorganized battle cries and joined the fray.

Despite the increasing number of pirates, the Blood Dragon Guards remained dominant, repelling and killing wave after wave of attackers.

Gavin moved to the hall's exterior, where a crowd of pirates had gathered, with more arriving constantly.

Without hesitation, Gavin activated the Flame Blade, igniting his sword with magical fire, making it stand out vividly against the night sky.

Holding the blazing sword, Gavin charged at the pirates, the Blood Dragon Guards following closely. Each swing of the fiery blade cleaved through pirates and their weapons alike. Gavin also unleashed waves of fire that ignited the clothing of several pirates, who writhed in agony as they burned.

Gavin and his forces pushed through the chaos, heading towards the port. Blood and flames marked their path as they swiftly made their way to their destination.

At the port, some pirates were attempting to board ships. The Blood Dragon Guards quickly established a defensive line to prevent any escape.

Despite numerous attempts, most pirates failed to board the vessels, though a few managed to get onto a longship.

Gavin took the bow handed to him by the Blood Dragon Guards and aimed at the longship.

A flaming arrow appeared on the bow. Gavin released it with a powerful shot, causing a loud explosion. The longship suffered a massive breach, water pouring in rapidly as it began to list. The pirates scrambled to escape, leaping overboard.

Witnessing Gavin's display of power, the remaining pirates were overwhelmed with fear. Many fell to their knees, muttering desperate prayers for salvation.

Gavin surveyed the terrified pirates before him.

At that moment, a Blood Dragon Guard carrying the unconscious Black Shark "Earl" approached and slapped him awake.

The sight of their leader, captured and about to be executed, further terrified the pirates.

As Black Shark "Earl" regained consciousness and had yet to react, Gavin swiftly beheaded him in front of the gathered pirates. The head rolled to the ground, blood spilling everywhere.

Gavin then held up his bloodstained sword and pointed it at the remaining pirates. The sword burst into flames once more, casting a fearsome glow.

The intense flames illuminated the frightened faces of the pirates. Overwhelmed by the horrific sight, many more knelt, unable to withstand the pressure.

Gavin declared loudly, "Kneel and obey me from now on, and I will spare your lives. Those who refuse will die today."

The pirates, already shaken by the display of power, had no will to resist. They all knelt, bowing their heads in submission.

Two days later, in the now-cleared hall, Gavin examined a newly obtained island map while listening to a report.

"Sir, the statistics are complete. There are currently 1,673 people on the island. Of these, 782 are pirates, 346 are shipbuilding slaves, and the remainder are indigenous residents and pirate families. There are 11 longships, 3 large sailing warships, 2 longships under construction, 5 longships awaiting repairs, and a super-large warship, Black Shark, also under construction."

Hassan, the captain of the "Golden Fleece" and now the chief steward of Shipwreck Bay, reported to Gavin, who sat on the throne.

Hassan had been imprisoned in the dungeon by pirates before Gavin's rescue. After learning of Gavin's feats and witnessing his power firsthand, Hassan had vowed to serve Gavin with loyalty and gratitude.

Gavin, still focused on the map, asked without looking up, "How about the material statistics?"

"Sir, the island's food supply is sufficient for a year. There are also plenty of daily necessities and large woods for shipbuilding. Additionally, the treasure from Black Shark "Earl"'s vault includes 230,000 gold dragons, along with scattered jewelry, gems, pearls, dragon bones, and some handicrafts," Hassan reported respectfully.

______

"Dragon bones? How many are there? Show them to me immediately." Gavin, having heard of the dragon bones, excitedly threw down the map he was holding and urged Hassan to lead him to the find.

Soon, in an underground treasure chamber, Gavin saw the dragon bones. They were remarkably well-preserved, unlike the fragmented remains he had anticipated.

Gavin estimated the dragon's wingspan to be about 8 meters and its length no less than 11 meters, indicating it was an adult dragon. It was puzzling how such a significant find ended up in a pirate leader's treasure trove.

Gavin placed his hand on the dragon bones, sensing the magic within them. To his slight disappointment, there was some magic, but it was minimal for such a large bone. Absorbing it might yield no more than 10 points of energy.

Gavin surmised that the amount of magic in the dragon bone was influenced by the dragon's size and power while it was alive. The most potent example was the pendant made from a Belaerys dragon bone he had. Smaller bones naturally contained less magic.

Despite this, the dragon bone represented a significant source of potential energy, marking a notable gain.

Gavin then asked Hassan, "Have you discovered the origin of these dragon bones?" Hassan promptly replied, "When I found them, I inquired with the pirates who guarded this place. They said it was discovered on this island."

Gavin was surprised. He hadn't expected a complete dragon bone to be found on this island. Did it mean a dragon had once died here?

Gavin instructed Hassan to summon the pirate who had previously been questioned and sought detailed information from him.

It turned out that after the Black Shark Earl seized Shipwreck Bay, the pirates explored the island and found the dragon bones in a cave. Recognizing their value, they transported them back intact.

Gavin then asked the pirate to guide him to the cave.

After a full day's march deep into the island, Gavin and his group arrived at the cave where the dragon bones had been discovered.

Entering the cave, they were met with a damp, slightly decayed odor. The cave was vast and dark, and Gavin led everyone cautiously through the echoing space.

Gavin scanned the surroundings carefully, missing no detail.

Eventually, he discovered a peculiar spot. Between two massive rocks, the material in the gap differed from the surrounding rock. It was a dark red, somewhat rough substance, resembling a shape formed by high-temperature magma cooling and solidifying. Gavin began to dig with tools, exerting all his strength. As he dug, gravel fell away, revealing a gray dragon egg.

However, the dragon egg was dull and covered with tiny cracks, indicating it had long lost its vitality and even the magic within it.

Despite his disappointment, Gavin carefully placed the egg in his bag, intending to bring it back.

Gavin and his team continued to search the cave thoroughly but found no other discoveries. Reluctantly, Gavin decided to lead his team back.

That night in Shipwreck Bay, Gavin sat alone on the throne with the dragon bone beside him. He rested his hand on the bone, slowly absorbing its magic.

Gavin's mind was preoccupied with thoughts. Though he had successfully taken control of Shipwreck Bay through force and fear, incorporating over ten pirate ships and more than 700 pirates, he knew these pirates were unpredictable and only temporarily subdued by his strength.

Outside, the forces loyal to the Black Shark Earl were still significant. Over 50 pirate ships and nearly 4,000 pirates remained on nearby islands, unaware of Shipwreck Bay's change in control.

The situation in the Stepstones was even more tumultuous, with the Dornishmen in the west, the Three Daughters in the east, and the temporarily defeated Saan family. Each of these forces was stronger than Gavin's.

Gavin considered the future of Shipwreck Bay. Should he hold onto it or relinquish it decisively?

After much contemplation, Gavin resolved to take one step at a time. He planned to reorganize the pirates under his command, eliminate those who were undisciplined, and focus on improving combat effectiveness and discipline.

He also intended to expand his influence by controlling more islands.

Gavin knew that his arrival in Shipwreck Bay and the Stone Steps Archipelago was an accident. If he failed, he could always retreat. The Stone Steps Archipelago was vast, and as long as there was hope, it was worth trying. Perhaps he could carve out a place for himself in this chaotic region.

The next day, Gavin visited the large dock. As he stepped in, the strong aroma of wood and tung oil filled the air.

There were no free craftsmen present; all the workers were shipbuilding slaves purchased from Slaver's Bay, focused and skillfully working on their tasks.

Gavin paid particular attention to the flagship Black Shark, which the Black Shark Earl had originally prepared for himself. It was nearing completion. The ship was a grand wooden vessel, 80 meters long and about 20 meters wide, with three tall masts towering like pillars.

The main mast stood over 50 meters high, sturdy and able to withstand powerful winds. The hull was large, strong, and elegantly designed.

Paddles could be extended from either side of the hull to boost speed with human power, achieving coordinated propulsion with the wind.

Eight ballistas were positioned on the fore and aft decks, ready to unleash devastating attacks on enemies, providing a formidable deterrent.

Gavin approached the slave steward and some skilled craftsman slaves to discuss the shipyard's conditions and learn more about the situation.

He looked seriously at the slave steward and asked, "Tell me about your living environment, food, and accommodation here."

_________

The slave steward quickly lowered his head, his body trembling slightly, and answered respectfully, "Sir, our living conditions are dark, damp, and cramped. We subsist on basic food just to get by." His eyes revealed a trace of helplessness and pleading.

Gavin frowned slightly and said, "I will work to improve these conditions for you. Now tell me, what kind of ships can you build?"

The slave steward straightened up quickly, folded his hands in front of him, and responded respectfully, "Sir, we have extensive experience. We can build small fishing boats, medium-sized cargo ships, and even large sailing ships like this one, provided there are sufficient materials."

Gavin nodded and continued, "What about the storage of wood? How many ships can we build with the current supply?"

The slave steward looked embarrassed, bowed, and said, "Sir, the current wood supply is adequate, but I fear it is only enough for one more large ship." He gestured with his hands to illustrate.

Gavin's expression darkened. "Is there not enough wood? Why can we only build one ship?"

The slave steward, visibly frightened, hurriedly explained, "Sir, there are not many large trees suitable for keels. The remaining wood can only be used for a few small fishing boats."

Gavin pondered for a moment and said, "I understand. I will find a solution for the wood supply. In the meantime, focus on carefully completing this large ship."

The slave steward felt relieved, kneeling and bowing deeply, "Thank you, sir. We will do our utmost!"

Gavin then took out a blueprint of a three-bow crossbow from his previous life. The blueprint was somewhat crude and the lines were uneven.

Gavin pointed to the blueprint and carefully explained it to the slave craftsmen who were making crossbows. "Look here, and here..."

The slaves gathered around, frowning and listening intently.

One of the lead craftsmen said, "Sir, there's no need to remake it entirely. We should be able to modify the existing design."

Gavin's eyes lit up with interest. "Modify it directly?"

The lead craftsman nodded. "Yes, sir. We can modify the existing crossbows to match this design."

Gavin gave a decisive order, "Alright, start building and testing the power of the new crossbows immediately." His tone was serious, and his gaze was commanding.

The chief craftsman responded promptly, "Yes, sir!"

Gavin emphasized again, "Remember, once the test is successful, all crossbows must be replaced."

The chief craftsman bowed respectfully, "Understood, sir. We will make sure of it."

Gavin then addressed the slave stewards and craftsmen solemnly, "As long as you serve me diligently for three years, I will grant you freedom and reward you during this time."

Hope gleamed in the eyes of the slave stewards and craftsmen. They knelt and bowed, shouting in unison, "Thank you, sir! We will do our best!"

Afterward, Gavin decided to thoroughly reorganize the chaotic pirates. He knew that to dominate this perilous sea, he needed a disciplined, well-trained, and loyal crew.

In the morning, Gavin instructed Hassan to assemble the fierce Blood Dragon Guards and gather the pirates scattered around the camp.

Many pirates, lounging lazily in an open area, exchanged whispers, their faces a mix of curiosity and unease about the gathering.

Gavin stood elevated, his gaze sharp and assessing. He thought, "These pirates have been undisciplined; they need to understand the importance of rules through strict measures."

Gavin announced loudly, "From today, I am instituting a new rule. When gathered, no one is allowed to speak without my permission, and whispering is forbidden. Anyone who breaks this rule will face severe consequences!"

The pirates stirred in confusion and apprehension. Gavin's face darkened as he shouted, "Who is making noise? Stand up!" The crowd fell silent instantly.

Gavin did not intervene further, allowing the pirates to stand in place while he sat on a chair, closing his eyes to rest.

Eventually, a few disgruntled pirates began to whisper among themselves. Gavin, having been attentive, immediately noticed and ordered the Blood Dragon Guards to bring them forward.

He glared at the pirates with cold eyes and said sternly, "I gave you a chance, but you chose not to take it."

Before he finished speaking, the Blood Dragon Guards swiftly carried out the punishment. The whispering pirates were beheaded, their blood splattering onto the faces of the others. The remaining pirates, horrified, dared not defy Gavin.

Thus, the pirates stood in place until sunset, not daring to utter a word.

As darkness fell, the Blood Dragon Guards brought a heavy chest filled with gleaming golden dragons. Gavin ascended to a high point again and announced, "Your performance today was satisfactory. I am not a stingy man. This is a reward for your obedience." He then instructed Hassan to distribute the coins.

The following day, Gavin gathered the pirates once more. He began by inquiring about their past experiences and skills individually, making careful records and organizing them into appropriate groups.

Gavin grouped those familiar with sailing routes and ship repairs together, then initiated training for everyone.

Over the next few days, Gavin personally supervised the pirates' training. He discovered various factions within the group and engaged in discussions with many sailors and captains who had been captured previously. He realized that reorganizing the pirates alone was insufficient; the captured sailors and captains also represented a valuable resource.

At this time, Gavin sat opposite an experienced old captain and spoke sincerely, "I deeply regret that you were forced into this situation. However, given the circumstances, I sincerely seek your assistance. I am not like the Black Shark Earl. If you serve me faithfully, I assure you and your crew will receive due respect and favorable treatment."

The old captain's expression was mixed with complexity. After a moment of hesitation, he replied, "Sir, though I was coerced here, I understand the situation. But how can I trust you?"

Gavin smiled slightly and said, "Captain, time will prove everything. As long as you genuinely assist me, your future glory and wealth will be assured.

The old captain thought for a long time before finally nodding and saying, "Alright, sir, I am willing to give it a try."

In this way, Gavin gradually brought the sailors and captains under his control through a blend of kindness and authority.

Gavin also called Hassan and summoned some influential figures among the island's indigenous people, assuring them that as long as they adhered to his rule, they would not face enslavement like under the Black Shark Earl. Many of them had already witnessed Gavin's remarkable methods, and thus, all the indigenous people surrendered to him.

Subsequently, Gavin ordered the indigenous people to undertake large-scale reclamation of the island—clearing trees and reclaiming the land. This marked the beginning of Gavin's comprehensive transformation and restructuring of Shipwreck Bay.

During this period, Gavin demonstrated his iron fist while reorganizing the pirates. He enforced extremely strict standards for the crew and ruthlessly eliminated all those who did not meet his expectations. Pirates with troublesome personalities and those who were disobedient were collected in a tough manner and became the feared Blood Dragon Guards.

At night, as the sea breeze howled, several pirate captains gathered in a dilapidated wooden house.

A bearded and burly pirate captain sat down and exclaimed angrily, "Gavin is so ruthless! When we followed the boss, we lived freely! Now, we are under his constant control!"

A one-eyed pirate next to him agreed, "That's right! We can't endure this much longer. We need to find a way out."

Another tall and thin pirate added, "Why don't we seize a ship and escape? Get out of this hellish place!"

At this moment, a pirate with a scar on his face frowned and said, "Gavin has connected all the ships with ropes and anchored them far from the port. To rob him, we would need to swim a considerable distance. Plus, the port is heavily guarded, with the undead monsters patrolling day and night."

The pirate who first suggested escape scoffed, "Hmph, I've observed that there are only eight monsters at the port, and twenty sailors from before. If we gather more people, we can overwhelm them. There are still two merchant ships docked. Let's seize a merchant ship first, then head towards the distant ships. The sailing warships will not be able to catch us!"

The others' eyes lit up at this plan, and they began discussing the details.

"We need to organize our manpower and act at night."

"Yes, we must move quickly to avoid detection."

"We should also have weapons ready, just in case."

As they plotted, no one noticed the pirate in the corner following the captain. His eyes flickered with uncertainty as he listened intently to their plans, contemplating his next move.

The next day, while Gavin was discussing matters with the slave steward, Hassan burst in with a nervous-looking pirate.

The pirate quickly knelt and said, "Sir, I have important information to report."

Gavin frowned and said, "Speak."

The pirate, panting, said, "Several former captains are plotting to escape. They plan to rob a ship after dark tomorrow night."

Gavin's eyes narrowed. "Why are you reporting this? Why didn't you join them?"

The pirate hurriedly explained, "Sir, I was captured and forced to become a pirate. I never wanted this life."

Gavin nodded. "Very well, I will reward your loyalty. Return and act as if nothing has happened. Keep a close watch on them and report directly to Hassan if you learn anything. Once this is over, I will promote you to captain."

The pirate, overcome with gratitude, said, "Thank you, sir. I will handle it."

That night, a group of pirates gathered quietly.

"Are you all set?" the defiant captain asked in a low voice.

"Almost. We have over 200 men and can take three sailing warships," the one-eyed captain replied.

"Move quickly and don't make mistakes."

The pirates advanced towards the port in a disorganized manner. They soon saw only eight Blood Dragon Guards patrolling the area, with no one else in sight.

"Follow my lead and stick together!" With this command, the pirates surged forward and attacked the guards.

"Charge, don't hesitate!"

The port erupted in chaos as the pirates overwhelmed the Blood Dragon Guards. Despite their reputation, the Blood Dragon Guards fell quickly.

One pirate stabbed a Blood Dragon Guard's heart and discovered to his surprise that the guard was not the undead monster he had feared.

After dispatching the Blood Dragon Guards, the pirates rushed to the port where the ships were docked.

Upon arrival, they found only one merchant ship left.

"Damn, what happened?"

"Never mind, let's board the ship and get out of here!"

Desperate, they boarded the merchant ship and quickly sailed away from the port.

The commotion had attracted the attention of the entire camp. Lights flared up, and countless figures gathered towards the port.

The pirates aboard the ship frantically untied the cables and raised the sails. Just as the firelight reached the port, the merchant ship began to leave the shore.

However, as the ship departed, more than a dozen Blood Dragon Guards emerged from the cabin and launched a brutal assault on the pirates. The ship descended into chaos. A Blood Dragon Guard cut down a strange pole with a single stroke.

Gavin, holding the longbow provided by the Blood Dragon Guard, drew the string and fired a flaming arrow. The arrow struck the stern of the departing merchant ship, creating a large hole. Water began flooding the ship, causing it to tilt.

The pirates had no choice but to leap into the water and swim towards distant ships.

Suddenly, figures appeared on those ships, shooting at the pirates with bows and arrows.

The remaining pirates turned back and swam toward the port, only to be mercilessly attacked by the Blood Dragon Guards waiting for them.

Thus, the rebellion was completely suppressed.

A month later, after purging the rebellious elements, the number of pirates was reduced to fewer than 400. Gavin carefully selected the strongest and most obedient individuals from the captured sailors and local inhabitants, forming a final crew of over 600 soldiers.

That day, Gavin was in the hall listening to Hassan's report when a subordinate rushed in to announce, "Two pirate ships have crossed the channel and entered Shipwreck Bay. They are preparing to dock."

After hearing the news, Gavin immediately set off and rushed over with the Blood Dragon Guard.

During this time, Gavin strictly controlled the entry and exit of Shipwreck Bay to prevent news of the change in ownership from spreading. His goal was to deceive and lure any of the original Black Shark "Earl"'s men who might be outside, so Gavin could catch them unawares.

As soon as the two ships docked, Gavin's men quickly took control. All crew members were disarmed, bound, and then taken to the dungeon. The two captains were even bound and brought to Gavin in a humiliating manner.

Faced with Gavin's interrogation, the two captains were anxious and apprehensive. They were fully aware of the severity of their situation and knew that resisting or concealing the truth would not end well.

The captain on the left, his mind racing, weighed his options. He thought about his family waiting for him at home. Losing his life due to a moment of stubbornness would leave them in hardship. With the change in control of Shipwreck Bay and the uncertain fate of the Black Shark "Earl," resistance seemed pointless. Taking a deep breath, he decided to speak the truth.

The captain on the right was also filled with fear and helplessness. He recalled the many dangers he had faced at sea, but none compared to his current desperation. He understood that Gavin was not a person to be trifled with. Gavin's rapid and decisive control of Shipwreck Bay was a clear indication of his formidable abilities. Concealing the truth might endanger not just his own life but also that of his crew.

In these intense moments, the two captains experienced a fierce internal struggle. Ultimately, fear, helplessness, and a will to survive prevailed. They looked at each other and saw the same decision reflected in each other's eyes.

The captain on the left lowered his head and said, his voice trembling: "Sir, we will not hide anything. We will truthfully report everything we know." The captain on the right nodded in agreement: "Yes, sir, please spare our lives."

They then began to recount everything they knew without withholding any details.

Through their confessions, Gavin learned about the situation outside. Both sides had suffered greatly in the previous conflict with the Dornish, leaving the Dornish with significantly reduced defenses and a weakened fleet.

Most of the pirates currently in the area still followed the Black Shark "Earl"'s previous orders, focusing on recuperation and preparing for a potential counterattack from House Saan. Without new orders for a long time, they had sent two ships to investigate.

They now controlled Bloodstone Island and two unnamed islands, but Gray Hinge Island remained under House Saan's control. Gray Hinge Island had lost its fleet and its naval capabilities. Currently, the entire trade route of the Stepped Stone Islands was under Gavin's control.

Gavin stroked his chin thoughtfully. The Dornish people's reduced defenses did not necessarily mean they had ceased resistance; a counterattack was still possible. House Saan's firm hold on Gray Hinge Island suggested they would not easily relinquish it. Once the opponent's fleet had rested in Lys, it would likely return to the Stepped Stone Islands. The long-term interruption of trade routes might also prompt the Third Daughter Kingdom to act.

Gavin was already strategizing his next move. He intended to capitalize on the temporary weakness of all parties to fully integrate the pirates, expand his influence, secure a strong position in this volatile region, and establish his dominance.

Despite stabilizing his rule in Shipwreck Bay through reorganization, Gavin's control remained fragile due to the short timeframe and external threats.

If he could defeat the scattered pirates in the next operation, he would solidify his control, replace the Black Shark "Earl," and dominate most of the Stepped Stone Islands. Determined, Gavin decided to take the initiative and exploit the imbalance of information to raid the pirate forces outside Shipwreck Bay.

On an unnamed island, a bonfire blazed, casting a wild glow on the pirates' faces. Ironhook "Todd" and several of his pirate captains were celebrating, the air thick with strong alcohol and raucous laughter.

Each pirate held a Lyseni prostitute, laughing and behaving recklessly. The clinking of glasses and loud shouting created a chaotic and lively scene. Some pirates were so drunk they staggered around, while others argued, their faces flushed.

Suddenly, a subordinate hurried over to report: "Boss, the two longships sent earlier have returned. The two sail warships and five longships of the boss are following behind, all under the boss's flag."

Ironhook "Todd" reacted with alarm, pushing the prostitute away and shouting: "Stop drinking!" The noisy crowd fell silent, and the pirates looked at each other in shock. Ironhook "Todd" straightened his clothes and led his men to the seaside to greet the arrivals.

There are dozens of islands in the Stepped Stone Islands, but only eight have fresh water. Four of the five islands near the trade routes are controlled by the Black Shark "Earl."

This unnamed island, one of the five islands with fresh water on the trade routes, was under Ironhook "Todd," who led 10 longships and 800 pirates stationed here.

The wooden dock was small and simple. Eight longboats were already moored, making space tight. When another sailing warship arrived, there was almost no room left. From a distance, Ironhook "Todd" stood on the dock, waiting anxiously.

As the sailing warship approached the port, the crew threw out the heavy rope, which was caught and tied tightly to a large wooden pile.

The gangway was lowered with a thud, blending with the sound of waves hitting the dock.

Gavin led the Blood Dragon Guard down from the ship. Ironhook "Todd" was puzzled by the newcomers. He approached Gavin with a smile and asked: "You look unfamiliar. Are you the boss's new subordinate?"

Gavin replied: "No, I'm not. As for the boss you mentioned, you can see for yourself." He then handed a small wooden box to Ironhook "Todd."

Ironhook "Todd" took the wooden box with suspicion. As he opened it, a strong smell of lime filled the air. Inside the box was the head of the Black Shark "Earl," its face pale and mottled from slight decay. The uneven lime dust made it look even more grotesque and horrifying.

He was so startled that his hand relaxed instantly, causing the wooden box to drop to the ground and the head of Black Shark "Earl" to roll out. The pirate captains standing behind Iron Hook "Todd" also showed immediate signs of fear and shock.

Iron Hook "Todd" quickly drew his sword, his eyes wide with both anger and wariness as he glared at Gavin and demanded, "Who are you?"

Gavin regarded the wary pirate with calm resolve and said, "My name is Gavin Belaerys. From this day forward, I am your new boss. Kneel now, and I may spare your life."

Gavin stood with a commanding presence, his eyes sharp and his voice authoritative. The sea breeze flapped his sleeves, adding a touch of menace to his demeanor. Iron Hook "Todd" stared in disbelief and anger, his grip on the sword trembling with nervousness.

Iron Hook "Todd" felt his heart racing and his mind racing faster. Facing Gavin, who exuded such an oppressive air, he wrestled with his desire for power and unwillingness to surrender.

"Earl died just like that? No, this can't be true! I've fought hard for him on this island, and now he's ended up like this. If that's the case, why should I bow to this newcomer? If I kill him, I can seize control and become the new boss!" Iron Hook "Todd" tightened his grip on the sword, his eyes burning with determination as he envisioned himself rising to power.

But he also recognized the danger of the situation. Gavin's bold arrival suggested he was well-prepared. Still, the lure of power drove Iron Hook "Todd" to take a gamble, even at the risk of his own life.

Resolute, Iron Hook "Todd" glanced at the distant ships that were unable to dock due to the crowded pier. He saw them lowering their boats, which would take time to reach the shore.

He then assessed Gavin's group, noting they numbered only about thirty, while he had nearly a hundred pirates with him. Seizing the advantage, Iron Hook "Todd" quickly ordered his men, "Kill them and avenge the boss!" He then grabbed a nearby pirate captain and urged, "Go quickly and gather everyone on the island!"

Iron Hook "Todd" was visibly enraged, his eyes bloodshot and veins bulging on his forehead as if he wanted to devour Gavin and his men.

The pirate captain he had dragged off initially looked stunned but quickly recovered, nodding in agreement before sprinting toward the island. The remaining pirates, upon hearing the order, charged at Gavin and his men with fierce cries of vengeance, plunging the dock into chaos and clamor.

As the pirates attacked with ferocity, Gavin remained steadfast, unmoved. The Blood Dragon Guards behind him surged forward with lightning speed.

The Blood Dragon Guards moved in perfect unison, their actions cold and efficient. Their weapons cleaved through the pirates mercilessly, each strike precise and powerful. The pirates fell like fragile straw, cries of pain and the sounds of bodies hitting the ground echoing through the dock.

Soon, hundreds of soldiers descended from the ship behind Gavin, their blades flashing as they joined the fray. The battle grew more intense, with the shouts of combat growing deafening.

Iron Hook "Todd" retreated to the rear of the battlefield, his face pale but continuing to shout, "Hold the line! Reinforcements are coming!" Despite his efforts, the defeat of his pirates became inevitable.

The nearby pirate camp was also in disarray, with many pirates rushing out with weapons. Under Iron Hook Todd's hoarse commands, they joined the battle like a wave.

As the boats drew closer to the shore, their occupants joined the fight with sharp blades. The Blood Dragon Guards, undeterred, continued their relentless advance, their bravery unmatched as they cut through the enemy with ease.

The battle's tide shifted decisively in Gavin's favor. With the Blood Dragon Guards' fierce assault and the additional reinforcements, the pirates' resistance faltered rapidly.

The conflict soon concluded with a resounding victory for Gavin's forces. The dock was littered with the fallen pirates, their blood staining the ground red.

Gavin stood amid the carnage, his expression resolute. He knew this was only the beginning of his quest for control.

Two Blood Dragon Guards grabbed Iron Hook "Todd" by the arms and presented him to Gavin. Hassan, standing nearby, ordered the remaining pirates to lift their heads.

At that moment, Gavin's sword erupted in flames, its fiery glow reflecting his stern face and amplifying his imposing presence.

Without hesitation, Gavin swung the sword, and the swift blade cleaved Iron Hook "Todd" in two, blood spattering and staining the ground.

The brutal display stunned everyone present, filling the pirates with deep fear.

Gavin's fiery sword and ruthless methods silenced the surrendered pirates. Overcome with terror, they fell to their knees, trembling and avoiding eye contact.

Gavin's gaze was piercing as he surveyed the kneeling pirates, his voice carrying authority as he declared, "From now on, I am your master. Anyone who dares to defy me will meet the same fate!" His words resonated like a decree, instilling awe and compliance among the pirates.

After securing the battlefield, Gavin ordered the captives to be taken aboard and prepared to sail to Shipwreck Bay with the captured ships.

In the captain's quarters, Gavin listened to Hassan's report. Hassan bowed slightly and said, "We captured over 300 pirates and acquired significant spoils, worth around 20,000 gold royals in property, food, and weapons, filling three longships. We lost 50 men, with 15 seriously injured and the lightly wounded not yet fully counted." Gavin, seated at the table, tapped his fingers thoughtfully, deep in contemplation about his next move.

Outside, the sea breeze filled the sails as Gavin approached the window, gazing out at the vast ocean. "Do you have any suggestions for our next target?"

Hassan straightened, considering before responding, "My lord, I suggest we target Bloodstone Island to the east. Its terrain is complex, making it easy to defend and challenging to attack. Additionally, Bloodstone Island and Gray Gallows Island are the only ones with significant populations in the Stepstone Archipelago. Capturing them would not only expand our forces but also provide strategic advantages in resisting potential threats."

_______

Gavin frowned slightly and said slowly, "Bloodstone Island is a good choice, but it is also home to the largest number of pirates. A direct attack could result in heavy losses or even failure. I am concerned that the pirates we've recruited might defect when faced with battle, especially given the short time we've had."

Hassan responded, "My lord, the news of Black Shark 'Earl's' death hasn't spread yet. We are still flying his flag, which allows us to bypass the island's most formidable defenses. Once we reach the island, we can neutralize their naval advantage. Moreover, the Blood Dragon Guard can act as enforcers. The soldiers have witnessed their power firsthand and will be deterred from defecting out of fear."

Gavin was conflicted about whether to seize the opportunity at Bloodstone Island. With more than 2,000 pirates on the island, it would be challenging to overcome them with only 800 men, nearly half of whom are prisoners. Unlike Shipwreck Bay, Bloodstone Island sees more naval traffic, and news of the attack might spread quickly.

Should he gamble? The opportunity to approach the island without detection might be fleeting.

Gavin soon resolved, his voice resolute: "We have just eliminated the pirates on that island. It won't take long for news to spread across the Stepstones. Instead of preparing to attack Bloodstone Island later, it is better to take advantage of the situation and seize it now."

Hassan, admiringly, agreed: "You are absolutely right. If Bloodstone Island learns of our strength in advance and fortifies its defenses, it will be even harder to attack."

Gavin turned to Hassan and said firmly, "The fleet will not return to Shipwreck Bay but will change course to head directly to Bloodstone Island. Additionally, gather all the prisoners on board. I wish to speak with them."

Hassan bowed in agreement: "As you command, my lord. I will make the arrangements immediately."

The summer sea was clear and shimmering under the bright sunlight, making the surface resemble a golden sheet. The gentle breeze carried a salty scent, invigorating the sails. A fleet of two majestic warships and thirteen slender longships cut through the waves toward Bloodstone Island in the east.

During the voyage, Gavin interacted with the soldiers and newly captured pirates. He generously distributed the 20,000 gold dragons he had acquired, letting the coins cascade before everyone. Their eyes lit up with excitement and greed.

Gavin puffed up his chest and declared loudly, "After this battle, rewards will be even more generous based on the number of enemies defeated!" He then sternly displayed the Blood Dragon Guard as a supervising force. His tone was firm and unwavering: "Anyone who dares to retreat will face severe punishment from the Blood Dragon Guard!"

Gavin was aware of the need to bolster morale among his newly assembled team, including the captured pirates. With the task of attacking an island held by over 2,000 pirates, and many of his own men being prisoners, he had to rely on the allure of wealth and the fear instilled by the Blood Dragon Guard to drive his men to fight bravely.

The fleet, flying the flag of Black Shark 'Earl,' sailed steadily toward Bloodstone Island. From a distance, the flag fluttered in the wind, proclaiming an imposing authority.

As the fleet neared Bloodstone Island, the sentries initially failed to notice anything amiss. After all, the Black Shark 'Earl' flag was a strong deterrent in these waters.

Once the fleet passed the island's defenses, the port came into view. The dock was bustling with activity, oblivious to the impending threat.

Gavin stood at the bow, his gaze cold and calculating, planning his next move. As the battleship nudged the dock with a dull thud, the sailors swiftly dropped anchor and secured the vessel. Gavin and Hassan disembarked with the Blood Dragon Guard.

The process of docking took time. Hassan, seeing the pirates approaching to greet them, quickly went to meet them with a smile, engaging in casual conversation and sharing stories about the sea to buy time.

Meanwhile, Gavin's soldiers and pirates used this opportunity to assemble quietly on the dock. Their movements were swift and deliberate, weapons at the ready, prepared for combat.

As more ships docked, Gavin watched from the bow, assessing the situation and calculating the time. Eventually, the large contingent disembarked onto Bloodstone Island.

The island's pirates, initially unaware of the danger, began to realize something was wrong when they noticed the armed and aggressive demeanor of the newcomers.

Gavin's army was poised for a full-scale assault, and a fierce battle was imminent.

Following Gavin's orders, his soldiers surged into the port like a storm, seizing control with overwhelming force. Their swift, powerful assault shattered the calm, and the port's inhabitants fled in terror.

Gavin led the charge, sword flashing as enemies fell before him. The Blood Dragon Guard followed, forming an impenetrable line and advancing steadily.

The battle at the port was brutal and intense, with blood spilling freely. Gavin's forces quickly gained the upper hand through their surprise and ferocity.

After securing the port, Gavin held off on a direct assault on Bloodstone Town. With its high, solid walls, a hasty attack could lead to severe losses.

Gavin decided to fortify their position and lure the city's defenders into a counterattack, maximizing their advantage.

Gavin methodically set up defenses and commanded his soldiers to prepare their positions.

"Aim all crossbows at the shore and be ready to fire on my command!" Gavin instructed Hassan.

Gavin silently plotted, waiting patiently for the pirates in the city to react, ready to deliver a decisive blow.

____

Gavin stood at the port, deeply impressed by the actions of Black Shark 'Earl.'

He reflected, "He managed to concentrate most of his forces on Bloodstone Island without worrying about the defection of those unpredictable pirates. His courage and confidence are truly admirable."

Gavin understood how challenging it was to command people, especially such mercenary and unpredictable pirates. Black Shark 'Earl' seemed to have a unique way of maintaining control over his men, ensuring their loyalty even in his absence. Gavin knew it would be difficult for him to achieve the same.

The pirates in the city reacted quickly. Soon, they assembled a force of no fewer than 2,000 and advanced towards the port. Gavin was surprised by their numbers; he hadn't anticipated that the pirates would abandon the city and launch a full-scale assault. It soon became clear to him that controlling the port and the ships was crucial for these pirates. This was a position they needed to reclaim.

Gavin had expected to face only about 1,000 pirates initially, planning to wear them down before attacking the city. But with everyone coming out, he decided to resolve the matter in one decisive battle.

He quickly adjusted his strategy and ordered his soldiers to use the port's fortifications and the crossbows on the ships to form a defensive line.

As the pirate force approached, Gavin gripped his sword tightly, his gaze intense, and his heartbeat quickened. He knew he needed to remain calm to secure victory.

The pirates halted outside the crossbow range and began organizing their formation. Gavin observed with shock as he noticed there were over a hundred cavalry among them.

At that moment, a lone figure on horseback galloped towards Gavin's camp, clearly a messenger from the enemy.

The sudden appearance of the Black Shark 'Earl' flag and the unexpected occupation of the port had clearly bewildered the pirates.

Gavin's eyes flashed with determination, and he signaled for a Blood Dragon Guard to intercept the messenger.

The messenger barely began to speak before the Blood Dragon Guard swiftly struck him down with a single, decisive blow. The force of the strike left both horse and rider in a gruesome state.

This brutal act ignited the pirates' fury. Their enraged shouts surged like a tidal wave, even reaching Gavin's ears from afar.

The pirates surged towards the port like a tidal wave. Their heavy footsteps and battle cries created a palpable tension in the air.

As they approached and entered crossbow range, Gavin clenched his fists, delaying the order to fire. His eyes were fixed on the advancing enemy, sweat beading on his forehead.

Finally, as the majority of the enemy force entered range, Gavin bellowed, "Fire!" The crossbows on the ships unleashed a volley of arrows, their impact creating devastating gaps in the pirate ranks, scattering blood and debris.

Some pirates, horrified by the carnage, faltered and retreated, their faces pale and their legs unsteady. Others, driven to madness, broke from formation and charged towards Gavin with frenzied determination.

Despite the damage inflicted by the crossbow bolts, the pirates pressed forward. Once within the range of bows and arrows, they fired back, causing many of Gavin's men to fall, groaning in pain.

Simultaneously, the enemy cavalry charged the right flank of Gavin's formation. Gavin, enraged, shouted, "Form ranks and hold fast! Any retreat will be met with immediate execution by the Blood Dragon Guard!" The 20 Blood Dragon Guards, poised as the supervisory force, drew their swords, their blades gleaming menacingly in the sunlight.

Before the cavalry reached the formation, the ship's crossbows fired again, delivering a devastating blow to the enemy horsemen and halting their charge. Seizing the moment, Gavin raised his sword and commanded, "Charge!" His soldiers surged forward with wild enthusiasm, clashing with the enemy.

Gavin remained at a distance, observing the battlefield with a longbow in hand. When he saw a particularly brave pirate breaking through his lines, he swiftly drew an arrow, releasing it with a sharp twang. The arrow struck true, killing the enemy.

When Gavin noticed that a section of his formation was about to be overrun, he fired a flaming arrow that exploded on impact, sending enemies flying in a bloody chaos.

As the battle grew increasingly desperate, some of Gavin's soldiers and pirates began to falter. The Blood Dragon Guards swung their swords relentlessly, forcing the troops to fight on through sheer intimidation and fear.

The clash was intense and bloody, with both sides fighting fiercely. The battlefield was littered with fallen combatants, and the ground was stained red. The enemy, exploiting their numerical advantage, began to encircle Gavin's forces. Amid the chaos, Gavin spotted several mounted figures at the rear of the enemy lines, recognizing them as likely commanders.

Determined, Gavin joined the fray, his sword igniting with a blazing flame. The enchanted blade would burn for an hour, providing ample time for the battle.

The Blood Dragon Guards, driven by relentless efficiency, cut through the enemy ranks with ease. Gavin's flaming sword sliced through armor and flesh alike, and the Guards, impervious to pain and fatigue, pressed forward.

As Gavin and his forces breached the enemy formation, he targeted the enemy commanders with his flaming arrows. A well-aimed shot exploded among the cavalry, scattering them and bringing a brief silence to the battlefield.
