In February 1515 of the Sea Circle Calendar, the Genesis returned to Onigashima after being out at sea for nearly half a year. During their journey, they sank around a dozen pirate crews and destroyed two Marine surveillance ships, but no major conflicts erupted otherwise.
Marines' Intelligence Branch analyzed Genesis' route and searched the area they passed through, but they couldn't figure out the purpose behind their route.
No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't imagine that Genesis had changed course midway just to amuse some children.
The current atmosphere aboard Genesis was lively, and to some who weren't used to it, it was almost noisy.
"Ludicolo~lo, Lu-ludicolo~lo, Ludicolo~lo"
A creature resembling a kappa was awkwardly dancing while singing a strange tune.
Shaped like a rugby ball and covered in fur, it closely resembled a variant of Kappa. It was the Pokémon created by Arceus during the return journey—the Carefree Pokémon, Ludicolo.
After leaving Omatsuri Island, Meowna and Wolff often missed playing with a kappa-like creature, so Arceus created Ludicolo to play with the two children.
Ludicolo, a dual-type Grass/Water Pokémon, was mostly green but had a layer of yellow fur with two brown, zigzag stripes on its body, resembling a straw rain cape that made it look like a fisherman.
It had a duck-like beak, and a large lotus leaf atop its head. At that moment, it was singing a cheerful tune with Meowna and Wolff sitting on its head, clapping along and dancing.
Research shows that plants also respond to external music—cheerful music can accelerate their growth. As a Grass-type Pokémon, Ludicolo has inherited this ability to some extent.
Its cells are unique—cheerful music rhythms activate Ludicolo's cells. Whenever it hears cheerful music, its cells start to vibrate with energy, causing its body to instinctively sway and dance to the rhythm.
This ability allows it to exhibit great power in battle. Even if facing a powerful enemy, it never shrinks from the challenge. For Ludicolo, cheerful music is like a battle song.
However, since music isn't always around, Ludicolo hums its own tune to enhance its power. Its stamina far exceeds that of a Chansey, making it a perfect match for Meowna and Wolff, who have boundless energy.
"Ludicolo, take the kids back to their house in Kuri. You two behave and don't run off. I've already informed your father, and if you do run off, you'll be caught quickly."
"Yes, Lord Arceus." x2
"Ludi~colo~"
With that, Ludicolo was about to jump into the water to swim along the river back to Kuri, having just learned the exact direction, but it was stopped by someone before it could jump in.
"There's no need, my lord. I'm already here. Thank you for taking care of them during this time."
Just as Ludicolo and the siblings responded, Zeraora appeared. Arceus' return wasn't a secret; within minutes, the entire Onigashima knew that Genesis had returned.
Naturally, Zeraora had been waiting here, ready to bring the two little ones home. With Setsuna's example in mind, he was particularly wary of these two playing "runaway".
They seem to treat running away as a game of hide-and-seek and are very enthusiastic about it, often disappearing from home. Mink's wild upbringing often gives Zeraora a headache.
The kids were taken home by Zeraora, and Ludicolo naturally moved into their new home as well. The necessity of building a new house was once again evident, and as current trends suggest, their family might grow even more in the future.
The crew members also returned to their own homes. After such a long voyage, they would have a few days of leave, something they had long since gotten used to.
...
Meanwhile, as Arceus returned to Onigashima, he noticed a few special figures.
"Blisseeeey~"
"Blisseeeey~"
Four pink, egg-shaped creatures approached Arceus. They resembled Chansey but were actually Blissey, the evolved form of Chansey.
The difference in their cries is the most notable change; after evolving, Blissey had long replaced its "Chanseeeey~" with "Blisseeeey."
"Hm? Have you all evolved?"
"Blisseeeey~"
The Blisseys responded one after another. Among the many Pokémon created by Arceus, Chansey's evolution was relatively the most difficult.
There are many conditions for a Pokémon to evolve. The simplest is level evolution, where through continuous training and strengthening over time, a Pokémon naturally evolves once it reaches a certain threshold.
Some Pokémon have additional conditions, such as dietary needs—like Larvitar's evolution—but even that isn't too complicated.
Apart from this, some Pokémon require evolutionary stones or special items to provide the energy needed for evolution. This is also quite easy, as creating evolutionary stones and items is very simple for Arceus.
More complex is trade evolution. In the Pokémon world, some Pokémon evolve when traded between Trainers, and some even need to hold special items during the process.
But this isn't absolute. In the wild, Pokémon in their final forms, such as Gengar, Machamp, and Golem, still exist in large numbers within Pokémon communities. Their trade evolution relies on the special magnetic fields provided by Trade machines.
Under the influence of these magnetic fields, their bodies undergo changes that lead to evolution. Even without trading, if they are in areas with special magnetic fields, they can still complete their evolution.
However, the most complex cases are Pokémon like Chansey, which evolve through Friendship. This isn't a game, and friendship isn't just a number—it represents the harmonious relationship between a human and their Pokémon.
They can only evolve through the bond of "love" shared between them. Ideally, their Friendship with Yamato should already be at the required level, as Yamato was essentially raised by all four of them.
Yet, they hadn't evolved until now. It's actually a good thing that their evolution happened on this trip.
The Blisseys hopped around Arceus, sharing everything that had happened during this time, but soon Arceus noticed something odd.
"Where did your eggs go?"
These four Blisseys were high-level, so their eggs should regenerate relatively quickly. However, their chests were empty, and the spot where they usually carried their egg was vacant.
Although their eggs are highly effective, they shouldn't be used all at once. Additionally, it's unlikely that there are egg thieves around here.
"Blisseeeey~"
"Yamato took all your eggs?"
