A Rat’s Second Chance (Old)

One day, a young monster rat was born. This rat was like all of its kin: small, weak, and insignificant… well except for one thing. This rat had the skill [Plague Bearer] from birth; this skill is normally obtained after years of living in an unhygienic environment, but this rat had it since birth. All beings before birth, can spend skill and stat points to get skills and upgrade their stats, but usually aren't intelligent enough to do so. This rat was not intelligent enough, but through some miracle of luck managed to do it. It boosted its luck all the way and bought the skill [Plague Bearer].

When the rat was born it was in the city of Taloyt, and was left to survive on its own. It wandered around and luckily kept finding just enough food to survive. Counter to its luck though, it ran across a human; they yelled and screamed and tried to kill the rat with a wooden spoon they were holding but missed. The rat swiftly escaped, narrowly avoiding a brutal demise. This short interaction was just long enough to infect the human with a deadly plague, and that plague spread throughout Taloyt, killing an entire city. The rat, entirely unaware of this, was simply living its life until a message popped up.

The rat, confused by the message at first, but ultimately understood this and took a moment to comprehend it. It was then killed by a flash flood.
