Time-Skips

Merlin had been in the orphanage for around a year now, and she hadn't been able to glean much new knowledge.

It rather irked her, as she couldn't complete her role as a guide for humanity if she didn't even know where, or when, she was.

The Succubus had been walking since she was one month old, simply using reinforcement to help her legs lift her. Of course, she used illusions to make sure that the Matrons had no idea that was abnormal.

Of course, collecting information wasn't the only thing she had been doing over the year. She had been trying to make a make-shift version of her staff.

The Magus had slowly, over the year, been conjuring different items to use in her staff's construction. Of course, the items would eventually fade, but with Gaia's presence lowered, this would be an acceptable jerry-rig.

She hadn't conjured everything yet, as most of the objects she needed to construct something as powerful as her staff were small, but extremely powerful.

For quite a few of the objects, she could only just barely conjure them. She predicted the strongest of all the items, her staff's Netheranium core, would have to be reconjured every single month.

Merlin could probably have found a good substitute for Netheranium, but the metal has an extreme synergy with her Succubus side, so she decided she would look for a new metal at a later point.

---3 Years Later---

Merlin was now 4 years old, and she could see some resemblance to her old form already. Her hair had grown, becoming only slightly shorter than it had been right before she arrived here.

She had finished her staff ages ago, periodically replacing the Netheranium every 6 months. She did this because she didn't like how much damage it was causing her small body to channel all of the Prana to conjure the metal.

The Magus of Flowers was currently on her way out of the orphanage. She wanted to do some proper research on her current situation for the first time in since the week she arrived here.

She had shelved research, as it wasn't much fun trying to do research in a one year old's body. She did however, look through all the extra memories that she had obtained, curious as to what the Witch of Betrayal's memories offered her. And of course, the girl named Amelie's.

The Magus of Flowers could certainly say that she had a good grip on pop-culture now that she had gone through the memories.

Plus, she knew that the little magecraft she had used when she arrived, and making the staff might have damaged her body. Of course, now that she had her staff, she didn't have to worry about it damaging her small, infantile body, as that would be taking the brunt of all the magical force.

So, the newly young mage casted her first illusion that was above basic levels. As she stepped out of the orphanage, her body shimmered, reverting towards the body of her original self.

She smiled at the feeling of her oh-so familiar robe draped across her 5'1 form. Of course, the robe wasn't real, but she was good enough at illusions to make the robe, and her form, feel quite real.

And, the mage didn't even feel any strain on her actual body, the damage indeed being taken into the staff she had remade. That was actually very good, as she wasn't sure if her body could handle the strain of her illusions.

She quickly flew to the roof of the orphanage, utilizing one of the benefits of Netheranium. Flight.

Ahh, how she loved that metal so much. Quite a lovely discovery from her trips down to Hell.

Merlin stood upon the orphanage's roof, readying herself for the first piece of large-scale magic that she would be doing. Merlin wouldn't admit it, but she was quite nervous. She wasn't actually sure if her staff would hold up the strain that this spell would cost.

None of the materials were even poor quality versions of the material. Merlin had spent her entire prana count conjuring the stone, and it wasn't even acceptable quality.

That's what she gets for using such a valuable metal as a core she supposed.

The spell that she was making was simple in nature, but the reason it was considered large-scale was because she was going to cover the entirety of Britain in the spell.

She wanted to cover the entire world, and she could have easily done that. If she was fully grown. Sadly, that wasn't meant to be. As for her current physique, Merlin wasn't even sure the poor quality staff would survive. Meaning she wasn't sure if her body would be okay by the end of the spell.

The spell's purpose was to simply detect large amounts of ambient magic. Such a simple thing, for something that could prove to be very dangerous for her.

A giant, pink, magic circle spread across the rooftop, spinning as more magic circles formed throughout the air. The wind started to pick up, simply from how fast all the magic circles had begun spinning.

The reason for the wind was that the magic in the air was simply to strong for the air, and it forced the air out of the way, causing the winds.

Then, suddenly, the magic circles all burst into fields of massive, slightly transparent, domes of pink energy. Merlin's Magic.

The young girl grit her teeth, feeling her circuits strain as she watched cracks appear on the Netheranium. Not a good sign at all.

Merlin forced a magic circle onto reality once more, trying to push past the pain the circles were causing for her. This circle though, simply projected an image above it.

The image seemed to be a satellite image of the entirety of Britain.

Across the map, there were a few small dots of red, signifying magical energy above the norm. But there were two places that held immense amounts of magical energy.

Merlin let out heavy pants, that massive spell had caused massive strain on her body. Her staff had taken most of the force, even forcing the Netheranium core to crack. Which was why the spell caused so much strain.

Merlin felt her illusion drop, leaving her in her younger form.

The mage did her best to ignore the pain, zooming in on the image before her. She decided she would observe the closest place that held heavy magical energy.

It seemed to be a simple bar, but looking at it from the image, there was an entire community of magical people behind it.

Merlin made sure to do her best to remember what that place looked like, before she sat down on the roof, eager to let her circuits cool down from all the strain.

'Not my best work,' Merlin thought sarcastically, before her young body forced her into the realm of Morpheus, all while on the hard roof of the orphanage.

Hope you liked this chapter. We got to see Merlin struggle to cast magic that would usually come easily to her.

If only she held her adult body, then she would have been completely fine.
