CHAPTER 70

KIERAN 

Blood thundered in my veins, drowning out all other sounds. I felt numb, my senses overwhelmed by the revelation. What I discovered at Edwina's house was a huge shock, one that left me reeling. I had finally laid eyes on my child, and the truth about Edwina's engagement to that manipulative jerk had left me breathless.

My mind was a jumble of emotions as I drove home, my eyes glazing over the road. It was a miracle I arrived safely, with my thoughts consumed by the strange encounter.

As I walked through the door, Charlotte and Archie took one look at my face and knew something was terribly wrong. 

"What happened, Kieran? You look pale, like you saw a ghost," Charlotte asked, her eyes filled with concern.

I slumped onto the couch, saying nothing at first. My mind was still whirling with the enormity of the things that became clear to me after the visit to Edwina's house.
