The distraction left Dylan grimacing with frustration. He looked at the phone and saw Justin's number flashing persistently on the screen. But he hesitated to answer the call. He wanted to explain Ava first. The rest could wait.
Ignoring the phone call, he held her shoulders. "Listen to me, Ava…"
"Your phone is ringing," she said, silencing him. "Maybe it's urgent. Answer the phone first."
He exhaled heavily, nodding in reluctant agreement. "Fine," he muttered. "But this conversation isn't over." He swiped the screen and answered the call. "What is it?" he asked sharply, his tone betraying his annoyance.
Justin's frantic voice crackled on the other end. "There is a big issue, Mr. Brooks. It would be best if you came back immediately. Things are spiraling out of control here."
"What exactly is happening there?" Dylan snapped, a sense of restlessness creeping into his voice.
