Chapter 38: Being Beaten for Stealing

"Da Bao, are you hungry?" Yun Xiaoxiao carried Da Bao towards her room, laid him on the bed, and then lit the kerosene lamp.

"Mom, if Dad were home, no one would dare to come in and steal things."

Da Bao wanted his father to come home early so that his mother wouldn't have to be scared anymore.

What Da Bao didn't see was the scene of his mother beating Wang Laowu, thinking that his mother had been frightened.

"Mom's not scared. I'll sleep with you," Da Bao thought. With his father not at home, he was the biggest man in the house and should stay by his mother's side to keep her from being afraid.

She was not scared at all.

"Okay, I'm going to check on Xiao Bao. You go to sleep first."

Da Bao pulled up the quilt and lay down. He saw his mother take the kerosene lamp to the next room. It was a while before she came back to bed.
