Loki woke up with a soft *yawn* and when he did he found three letters and packages waiting for him at his door.
"Who sent me gifts?" Loki wondered out loud.
Still on the bed, Loki did some gymnastics to get the letters and packages onto his own bed without leaving it and while nestled inside the quilt he picked up the first letter.
"From Hermione."
"Greetings Loki, I got your gift and I must say I loved it very much! The snow glass ball off Hogwarts now sits above my bed and keeps me company at night. I admire your transfiguration skill in being able to pull off something so detailed and impressive. It has made me competitive and so I made you a present that I transfigured myself. I hope you like it.
See you in school.
Hermione."
Loki opened the package attached to the letter and began to examine the item inside, putting a soft smile on his face.
On the inside was a chibi bobblehead that resembled him which he immediately placed on his bedside table, watching its head bobble away for a few minutes before he noticed there was a second package inside the first one.
'Two gifts?'
Loki pulled out the package and neatly opened the wrapping only to be surprised by the gift, 'Ballpoint pens! Ha! I knew she'd send me these!'
There was a paper in the second gift that provided some context, "P.S I have also grown tired of sharpening my own quills, it is time the wizarding world learnt about ballpoint pens! Thank you for reminding me about it! I love being able to write properly once again!"
"Haha~ I wonder if this will start a fad in the school of students writing using ballpoint pens."
Loki moved to the next present and pulled open the letter that was on it, it was a short letter that read, "Hello Loki. I loved your Hogwarts Replica transfiguration, in exchange, I have transfigured something helpful for you.
P.S. Pour in your spirituality to see what it does."
Loki opened the package and found a simple ring in it.
'Huh. The ring looks pretty.' Loki thought picking it up and putting it around his finger.
But as soon as Loki poured his spirituality into the ring it transformed into the most ferocious and venomous brightly coloured snake possible scaring Loki quite literally out of his bed.
*Thud*
As Loki fell onto the floor he pulled back his spirituality from the snake causing it to retransform into a simple ring around his finger.
"That was scary! He could've at least warned me about it! Hmpf. And to think I sent him such a nice gift."
"Just you wait, Dominic! I shall have my revenge!"
Loki then moved to the third present, it did not have a letter attached but Loki knew who'd sent it and hence he'd left it for the last.
Opening the present Loki found a small cloth bag with its top tied to conceal whatever was inside it.
Loki fiddled with the bag for a while until he was able to open it and peer inside. Inside were two things, a metallic charm which had an oroboros carved in it and a simple paper drawing of a stick figure Elane and Loki holding each other's hands.
"Ha~ What a beautiful piece of art. I'm sure Elane can become the greatest artist in the world."
Slinging the cloth bag around his neck, Loki stuffed it into his robes where he decided he would wear the good luck charm until he died.
Days passed and soon the holidays ended and Loki was back into his routine of attending classes once again.
"Hagrid!" Loki shouted as he knocked on the door large wooden door to his hut.
"Loki?" Hagrid opened the door, surprised, "What are ye' doing here?"
"Huh? I come here almost everyday Hagrid. Did you forget?"
"Ah! Ye' do. Yo' do. I must've forgotten."
With nothing stopping him Loki entered the hut and began complaining about things he usually did, "The food was still so unhealthy today, I wonder how wizards burn off the excess fat in the food? Oh but in the castle the students probably have to climb a lot of stai-"
Loki suddenly paused since he found out that there was someone else intruding his time with Hagrid.
"Loki!" Hermione squealed happily.
"He's a Slytherin!" the red-headed Weasly proclaimed.
Loki's eyes immediately focused on Ron as he gave him a scrutinising gaze.
"Who are they Hagrid?" Loki asked with an unfriendly expression although he knew two of them.
"They spotted me." Hagrid gruffed.
"Spotted you? Doing what? Looking up how to mate a Manticore and a Fire crab? I told you they wouldn't right? They're too different."
There was a sudden silence in the hut as Loki stared at Hagrid while the three other kids all gagged mentally since Loki's words did not paint a pretty picture.
"We spotted him looking up books about Dragons." Harry the only child who had remained silent till now finally spoke.
"Dragons!?" Loki's eyes sparkled at their mention. "Where!?" Loki asked and Hagrid pointed at a pot that was holding up a large dark blue-black egg on top of it.
Loki rushed to it and paid a lot of attention, immediately borrowing Hagrid's dragon gloves to stoke the fireplace and drop the egg into it so that it would warm up.
"He's cooking it alive!!" Ron complained but Loki ignored him.
"How did ye' know it needs to be hot Loki?" Hagrid asked.
"Ah! I read it in a book in the library. The egg must be as hot as possible to give the baby inside the impression that it is safe to hatch. Mama Dragons breath fire on the eggs you see." Loki said without caring about the scrunched-up face Ron had.
"Do you know how long it'll take for it to hatch?" Hermione asked.
"About two weeks give or take a couple of days.", Loki said without a pause and continued, "Dragons hatch a little faster than chickens since some dragon breeds eat their family after hatching to reduce the competition for hunting in the area."
Ron's face scrunched up some more but Loki ignored it and turned to look at Hagrid, "Where did you find it? I don't come here for a few days and you've found such an interesting thing! And you didn't even tell me about it!"
"Won it in a bet with someone in Hogs Head in Hogsmeade. A nice chap he was, though he looked a little shady he perked right up when I told him I worked at Hogwarts. He looked glad he was finally able to get rid of the egg too." Hagrid proclaimed with a thump to his chest.
"Hagrid what were you playing for another person to bet a Dragon's egg?" Loki asked with a confused look on his face.
"Nothin' we ere just playing cards."
"Hmm…."
Loki nodded even though he didn't believe him.
He then spoke to Hagrid about various things he has to take care of about the egg until sunset when Hagrid stood up and spoke, "Alright, off you go now! It's time for dinner, I will call you lot when it's 'bout to hatch for good." and ushered all the kids out of his hut.
"You'll also have a good surprise tomorrow!" Hagrid mysteriously said before shutting the door so that they couldn't ask him any questions about it.
If I find time, I'll have another chapter today. Until then try and predict what the surprise will be! Good luck!
