Heading Out

Finally, after a short while, Alex and Bella arrived at Forks High School.

Looking at it now, Alex felt like he hadn't seen it in forever though it had only been a few days.

Parking the truck where he usually did, Alex turned off the engine, took his backpack, and exited the truck.

Once outside, Alex turned to Bella and threw her the keys.

"Take them, I'll walk to the bus station later," Alex said.

Bella for what looked like the first time in her life, managed to actually catch something out of the air.

'Is this a bad omen' Alex suddenly thought as he looked at her with a twitching smile.

"All right let's just head inside already" Alex mumbled and he together with Bella walked toward the front entrance of the school.

Once inside, Alex gave Bella a hug.

"Well we part here, text me anytime you want or just call me all right," Alex said as he parted the hug and looked Bella in the eyes.

Bella seemed unable to even look at him as she shyly nodded her head and mumbled a small goodbye.

Alex nodded knowing that was the best he would get and turned around heading down the hall toward the principal's office.

*Riinnggg*

Before he even got there, the bell of the first hour sounded and the halls quickly cleared of students as they almost sprinted to their classrooms.

Alex simply shook his head as he maneuvered around the students as if he was an eel.

Finally, after a few minutes, Alex arrived at the principal's office.

Heading inside, he saw the same woman he had seen before that had given him the early graduation papers.

"Hello!" Alex said as he gave the woman a wave.

Lifting her head, she gave Alex a nod and a smile as she asked.

"Hello there young man, what do you need?"

"I'll be asking for a leave as I won't be able to come to school this last week," Alex said as he got straight to the point.

"A leave on the last week? But that's when the grades get announced." The woman said as she furrowed her brows lightly, clearly disagreeing with Alex's choice.

"I have some urgent stuff that I need to do, could you please approve of it," Alex said as he looked at her.

"I'm sorry but I'll have to ask the principal before I agree," The woman said as she started getting up from her desk.

*Sigh*

'Well i guess ill just force it' Alex thought and then walked close to the woman and looked at her in the eyes.

"What are you doing" The secretary asked both confused and flustered at Alex's move.

"Sign me the leave papers and be done with it, I don't have time to waste," Alex said and his eyes quickly changed color.

The black receding as a shining vermillion took its place instead, his pupils shrinking and thinning as they turned vertical.

The woman seemed to lose focus for a second before nodding her head.

"Yes, one moment please," The woman said and hurried to the drawers behind her, rattling them as she took some papers and quickly started signing them.

Lifting her head, she asked Alex.

"What's your name?"

"Alex Swan" Alex replied as he crossed his arms and waited for the woman to finish.

The process didn't take long, merely a minute or two before it was done.

"It's done, you'll have the last week of this year as an urgent family leave," The woman said as she put the papers back down and nodded to Alex.

Alex gave her a smile and a nod and turned around starting to head out of the principal's office.

"Thanks," Alex said just before he left the room, giving the woman one last wave of his hand.

Once outside, Alex directly started heading for the exit of the school however just as he was about to leave, something or rather someone caught his eye.

It was Mike, he hadn't seen him for a while this past week with everything going on and he hadn't even had the time to text him.

'I guess I'll say goodbye to him as well' Alex thought as he started walking toward him.

Mike had been a great friend and one of the first people who he had become genuine friends within this new world.

He had helped Alex adapt to this world and this day and age that seemed too old compared to Alex's though it wasn't even two decades of a difference.

"Hey, Mike! Got kicked out of math again?" Alex said as he gave the boy a wave with a large smile showing his expression.

Mike turned to face Alex and then nodded with a frown.

"That bitch is so annoying, I was only one-minute late god damn it," Mike said as he ruffled the back of his hair with his left hand.

"Yeah, happened to me too a while back," Alex said as he gave a light chuckle.

"So why aren't you in class?" Mike asked as he looked at Alex, his tone of voice showing his confusion.

"Ah I just came today to request a leave for this final week, I'm going on a trip for the summer and I decided to start a bit early. All my grades are already finished either way." Alex said as he shrugged.

"Damn, a trip? Your dad approved of that and even allowed you to take a leave?" Mike asked surprised.

"Yeah, he was pretty chill about it," Alex said with a proud look as if he had done something unachievable.

"Tsk, lucky bastard. So where are you planning on going" Mike asked as he looked at him.

"First going to catch a bus to Port Angels and stay there for a day or two and then I'm just going to see where the road takes me I guess," Alex said as he shrugged once more.

"A real adventurer eh?" Mike asked jokingly and then walked closer to Alex and patted his shoulder.

"Well see you September then?" Mike asked as he looked at Alex in the eyes.

Alex nodded and gave Mike a back pat as well.

"See ya, Mike!" Alex said once he parted the hug and started heading out.

"See ya!" Mike replied from behind him.

Finally, Alex was outside of the high school.

'It's finally time huh? From this moment forward until September, three whole months. Let's just see how far I can go' Alex thought as he lifted his head to look at the cloudless sky.
