The Queen's new secret friend!

"WHAT?!" Lady Danbury shouted in disbelief as she finished reading the letter.

"M'Lady...what do you wish to do..." The Nervous footman said, he has just brought her a letter so unexpected from queen Charlotte.

It has been a while since Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury had a good friendly afternoon together, but it was mostly the fault of the Lady rather than the queen.

After all Agatha was busy with everything and everything, and mainly met Charlotte to inform her of something or make a suggestion that would benefit them both.

But as of late, and despite her busyness, Lady Danbury or Agatha, has heard an unusual rumor, she heard that Queen Charlotte has started a new friendship.

And although she wasn't able to find out much, Lady Danbury uncovered that the new friend has been the highlight of queen Charlotte's week, as this friend became a regular, visiting the palace at least once a week, and more if possible.

The most annoying part was figuring out who was the queen meeting? Who is this secret friend that Is keeping Charlotte so entertained to the point where she doesn't seem to care for the fact that Agatha has barely visited her lately.

So far, lady Danbury only knows it's a woman that's been visiting.

However and Right now Agatha is shocked as she received a letter from the queen canceling their first friendly teatime in a while, a meeting between Lady Danbury and her majesty that was long overdue.

Charlotte even asked to not be disturbed today, a clear message to tell Agatha, to stay at home.

Unfortunately now that This event which Agatha has planned to also use an excuse to get a chance to meet this secret friend of her queen, has been canceled.

It has made the Usually calm and collected lady feel some rage, she even felt somewhat humiliated

"I need to know who she is...A name, a glimpse, anything! I must know NOW!

Prepare the carriage, this instance!" She demanded, "But my lady?!"

"No butts no nothing! I am well aware that what I'm doing would not earn me any favors from her majesty, but enough is enough, I must see it for myself! Who is her new secret friend!" Agatha said.

...Sometime later...

Her carriage now outside the palace while she was inside, Agatha marched her way quickly towards the room which her majesty is now occupying with her mystery guest, Lady Danbury ignored any and everyone who tried to stop her from going in with words.

Words do not stop the Lady Danbury.

So pushing open the door, "Your majesty! I apologize for my arrival." Agatha's voice boomed.

Surprised and immediately annoyed, a seated Charlotte turned her head to look at Danbury, the queen's hand has stopped caressing the sweet jolly puppy in her arms, now that her attention is pointed at one aging yet charming woman, who is considered to be one of the most powerful women in London.

"Lady Danbury! How dare you interrupt me!" Charlotte said.

"Your majesty I offer my sincerest of apologies, I was just worried about the letter you sent me.

I assumed something of grim nature has befallen your majesty." Lady Danbury defended herself with a lie, after all her goal was to unmask a certain someone.

That someone, a woman, was sitting across from the queen, with a set of reading glasses resting on her nose, she dressed herself in an emerald green modest and much humble gown compared to what lady Danbury or the queen obviously had on.

But the jewelry the woman wore, told lady Danbury that the mystery woman, must be wealthy, at least enough for the emerald golden necklace resting around her neck.

As she continued trailing the woman with her eyes, Agatha couldn't help but feel intrigued, the Young lady is of seemingly indian or maybe middle eastern heritage, she was of a lighter shade of brown compared to the Bridgerton latest viscountess, previously known as Kate Sharma.

But unlike Kate, this woman's wavy dark colored hair, was unusual compared to the times and customs, it was short in length.

Well not too short to be honest, her hair was styled in an blunt Lob which meant her hair ends exactly at the top of her shoulders, not many women dared to sport such a hairstyle.

With a small little matching green hat on top of her head, the mystery woman has yet to acknowledge the presence of Lady Danbury, she didn't even turn around to look at Agatha, remaining perfectly seated with a cup of tea in her gloved hands, while staring at queen Charlotte's sweet puppy.

"How rude! of all people I expected you to honor my request Lady Danbury! But it might have been my own doing as I should have been clearer in my letter, the cancelation was not a request but an order!" The Queen stated angrily, for some reason her words have earned a sigh out of her secret friend.

Turning to face her guest, "I cannot believe this...

Although you still have yet to explain why you refused to be found out by Lady Danbury, I still promised to honor your wish, and I have failed such promise.

but I hope you excuse her, although she is bold and somewhat forceful, Agatha is a good friend and she usually means well.

I have already told you but, She has been by my side since a long time, sometimes she forgets that I'm a literal queen." Charlotte explained to her guest.

In a whispery like husky voice, the mystery woman spoke for the first time, "Well I know a thing or two about friendship myself, so no need to explain yourself Your majesty, I knew Lady Danbury would want to meet me one day or another, she must have heard the rumors.

Although I would have preferred to remain as anonymous as I have been since we started our teatime rendez-vous because I am not as social as I should be, you already know that by now, I do prefer my solitude, I always had...even before I lost everyone in my family, I found solace in my own company, expect when I am with my two friends.

Goodness, I might be a hopeless case of an antisocial! I have not attended any social event yet, I never danced in a ball before nor gotten married...i just felt like a woman like me does not have anything to do with a woman like Lady Danbury.

Although I suppose I rushed calling myself hopeless, after all I do have two good friends, three if your majesty would be generous to allow me to call you a friend of mine too.

After all I am here with you my queen, and if one managed to befriend the Queen, the most powerful and interesting woman to live...one must certainly be able to bond with her closest of friends, am I right Lady Danbury?" She said putting away her teacup, then she turned to finally face the anxious Old woman.

Hitting the floor once with her cane, "Most certainly." Lady Danbury said with a nervous smile as she admired the woman's 'Visage'.

The woman wasn't extremely beautiful, but she wasn't average looking either, she had a unique, warm or rather welcoming charm to her facial features.

Lady Danbury's eyes were greeted by the stranger woman's round face, although the woman's glasses were still resting on her slight droppy nose which was adorned with a tiny yet visable beauty mark on its right side, Lady Danbury could clearly see the woman's deep set of brown eyes hiding behind the glass and resting beneath a pair of intrigued round eyebrows, shadowed in light green eye makeup.

The Mystery lady's eyes smiled alongside her heart shaped red lips at Agatha as she allowed the older woman's eyes to inspect her.

"Are you done looking at her?" The queen suddenly uttered.

Feeling flustered, "My apologies, You have quite the memorable face, it is beyond me to think I have never seen you before...judging by your jewelry, you seem well-off, yet I do not remember who you are nor know you and I know everyone." Agatha explained.

She was still standing by the door at this point, she didn't feel she earned the right to sit with her sudden and unwanted entrance, but Agatha was starting to feel weak and the mystery woman seemed to catch on to that so she spoke again with another polite smile.

"Why not sit down, Lady Danbury...I hate to sound impolite but an old woman with a walking cane like yourself, would only be tiring herself by standing the way you do."

"I suppose she is right, join us...you have already came uninvited, no need to remain standing like a servant." Charlotte agreed and motioned for Agatha to join them.

Reluctant but with no other choice, The aging woman sat between the queen and New lady.

"Young lady, You already know my name so I apologize for not providing a proper self introduction, but I am curious to know your name and who you are, if you allow it of course." Lady Danbury asked, she chose her words carefully to please both the queen and her guest.

And it worked, "My Full name is Lady Safa Vasundhara Catalina Vega of Ivica island also known as Ibiza island.

But feel unburdened to call me Lady Vega, or use my name Safa...I prefer it that way." Lady Vega said.

Lady Danbury's mouth was left open for a good moment at the hearing of that name, she didn't in fact expect such an 'extravagant' name to be uttered.

"Haha! What a name, is it not? I had the same reaction upon hearing it myself." Charlotte said laughing.

"I suppose my unusual origins and name are an added reason onto why I am reluctant to enter the social scene." Lady Vega Said.

"Oh don't be ridiculous! you may be a foreigner But with Such a name and fortune, any money hungry Mama with a son to spare, will come running towards you! They would not care a bit about your heritage.

After all, you are the sole living member of your family, it would be a shame if you were to die before giving birth to an heir to take over your fortune." The queen said slyly.

"You can take my fortune after I die your majesty, I am sure you will do good with it, as I don't plan on getting married anytime soon.

I know that society looks down on unmarried women, calling us spinsters as if it's an insult.

However many are unaware of how life could be just wonderful for a woman in the absence of a man to dictate over her head, especially a woman like me who has a great deal of interest in men's world." Lady Vega replied.

"I am flattered that you think I would outlive a Girl in her late twenties, but I think you should rethink of the marriage situation.

While yes, the absence of man is usually a good thing...you might love a man someday so dearly to a point where his absence becomes a bad thing." Charlotte said with a sad smile.

Nodding, "One can only wish to have love like your majesty did, or the diamonds you picked...as for an ordinary Girl like me, I seek not love, what I seek is to be of assistance to you." Lady Vega said earning a surprised look from lady Danbury.

Chuckling at the response, "As always you are the most Entertaining, do you not know how to be boring?" Charlotte asked.

"Sadly I do not think I am all that entertaining, you can ask my dear friend Lord Teaton.

The only one who seems to entertain him well, is my poor manservant, my other good friend." Lady Vega replied smirking.

Fun fact: Located in Spain, Ibiza island is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, In the 18th and 19th centuries the island was known to the British and especially to the Royal Navy as 'Ivica'.
