Our attacks met each other midair, causing a cataclysmic explosion that consumed the entire surroundings. I quickly covered my eyes and used my Observation Haki to sense any danger, my attack seemed to have consumed Oden's and it was now beginning to grow in size. I could sense it slowly beginning to consume the already damaged island. We needed to get out of the island before my attack would consume the entire island, and us with it.
I quickly began to look for Oden using my Observation Haki, only to find that Whitebeard had already nabbed him and landed on the Moby Dick. Leaving me the only person within the island, I assumed that he left me behind so that I could fix it.
The already huge attack was growing at an exponential rate, using the logic of fire beating fire, I was about to use Endens Lyn again to destroy the attack when I heard Whitebeard's roar boom from the Moby Dick. Seeing his figure soar through the air, and his naginata in hand coated with infused Conqueror's haki, I knew he wanted to end this fiasco as quickly as possible. I immediately coated Labrys with advanced Armament along with Conqurer's haki infusion; intending to aid Whitebeard's wish.
Silver lightning slithered around my axe as it glowed with a silver hue. The moment Whitebeard swung his glowing naginata at the core of the attack, I followed suit and used Fulgur Perditionis. Our combined attack proving more than enough to put an end to the growing calamity. However, the consequence of such an attack led to the complete destruction of the island. Whitebeard had kicked away from the impact as soon as he delivered his attack. Whereas I was still on the slowly disintergrating island.
I quickly used soru and vanished to the Moby Dick, it was there that I could fully understand the gravity of Whitebeard's joint attack with mine. The attack had essentially destroyed the core of Oden's attack with me. As a result, the growing disaster whiplashed with the help of the joint attack with Whitebeard, forming an even larger explosion as a result. The Whitebeard Pirates desperately held on to the Moby Dick as the ship was fighting against the chaotic currents of the sea, and the fierce winds of the heavens.
A huge whirlpool could be seen consuming the the area where the island once was. At this point of time, it was important to note that the island was no longer there. It had already disintergrated after I left it, the currents that the whirlpool was making was starting to drag the ship closer to its center. If we let the currents lead us to the center, it would cause devastating damages for us. I turned to look at Whitebeard who I appeared next to, he had maintained his smile throughout the entire altercation; almost as if he had predicted this outcome happening.
"Aren't you gonna do something?" I asked.
"I'm curious, I want to see the extent of this phenomenon," Whitebeard replied.
The rest of the crew were still holding on for dear life. Furthermore, I could sense that a storm was slowly beginning to form on top of the Whirlpool. I quickly dissapated it and kept an eye out for any incoming storms. The last thing that we needed was a calamity from the heavens.
The whirlpool's swirling seemed to reach its limit and was slowly beginning to dissapate. All the ships belonging to the Whitebeard Pirates were immediately ordered to raise their anchors and sail as far away from the whirlpool as possible, it was just a safety measure in case the whirlpool decided to pick up once again. The Moby Dick that Whitebeard and I were currently on started moving back bit by bit as the whirlpool's momentum started slowing.
When we had reached a reasonable distance from the current, I started looking around for Oden. He had been strangely quiet throughout the entire incident even though he was one of the reasons that it had started. Using Observation haki, I sensed him within the cabin of the ship lying on a bed.
"What happened to him?" I turned and asked Whitebeard.
"Oden immediately lost conciousness when his and your attacks met. He was, afterall, in point blank range," Whitebeard explained patiently.
I nodded in understanding as I turned to look back at the island. As I was recalling the events before the destruction of the island. More and more questions slowly began surfacing in my mind. The most prominent question being,' How was everyone back on the ship before the destruction of the island?'
However, I never really bothered trying to figure out the answer to that. Instead, I lit a cigar that Ken had came with while trying to check on me after the battle. As its fragrance slowly entered my lungs, I started to ease my tense muscles as I started making my way back to my ship. It was still nighttime, the moon was still high in the cloudy sky, indicating that it would be long till the sun would rise.
The route that we would be following was apparently going to take us deeper into the New World, Whitebeard wanted to visit some islands that he wanted to lay claim to. In the canon, it was alleged that Whitebeard protected a significant portion of the New World. The current territories that we had been protecting was only a quarter of what he had by the time of his alleged death. There was much work that was still to be done.
As I walked towards the edge of the Moby Dick, preparing to land on my ship, I saw Teach staring at the remnants of my fight with Oden with a shocked expression. his forehead was covered with a vast amount of sweat, and his eyes seemed to be glued to the scene. I sighed quietly before using soru to move towards my ship.
Honestly speaking, I wanted to instill as much fear as possible in him. Though I couldn't kill him because I didn't want to cross Whitebeard, it didn't mean that I couldn't bully him a bit so that he could be weary. This plan also had consequences of its own, because it would mean that he probably would come up with a rather devious plan to try and kill me and Whitebeard. However, this would be something to worry about in the future. Right now, the early teenager had much to learn before he could pose a reasonable threat.
Entering my cabin, I found Stussy in bed. I could hear her soft snores as she slept, since I was still smoking. I quickly went back up to the ship and sat on the new couch that was brought on to the ship. I smoked quietly for some time before, suddenly, my transponder snail rang. I was confused by who could possibly be calling me at this ungodly hour of the night. However, it didn't stop me from picking up the call to hear what the person at the other end of the line wanted to say.
Either way, I was glad that I did pick up the call. Because the person who I was currently listening to was none other than Nico Robin's mother, and she sounded scared out of her wits.
