After his battle with Alex, Lucius realized his greatest flaw, he had no combat experience and martial arts knowledge. He only won because he could overwhelm Alex completely, but a day would come when he would meet someone on par or even greater. At that moment, the deciding factor would be technique.
"Fuck my life." Lucius muttered with a frustrated look.
[Don't worry, the academy actually offers martial arts classes, but most guardians tend to ignore it. People are too focused on improving their power that they forget the importance of skill. It's good you can identify this problem.]
"I guess so." Lucius sat up while scanning his room.
It was quite spacious, with the king-sized bed positioned at the far end, opposite the entrance. On the left side of his bed was his reading desk, just in front of the window. To the left was a door leading to a small dressing room, and to the right was a door leading to the bathroom.
There was much space for students to customize their rooms to their taste, but Lucius simply found no use for that.
"So tell me about you." Lucius said as he got off his bed and looked at the bright moonlight through the window.
[I am Lyxor, the second prince of the Xenovian race. My real body is in the hands of the royal family of America but sealed away in a state of sleep. That body is placed in internal rest but I can still hear a lot] Lyxor explained.
"Wait, what?" Lucius was genuinely stunned this time.
[How did I get into the meteorite? While fleeing from my people, I sealed a portion of my body into the meteor and split my consciousness. It was a place where no one would ever look.] Lyxor explained.
[I fled to earth, thinking this world was just a victim of the cruelty of my people only to realize the world leaders were in contact with my people already. The night of the Blue Death was no mistake, it was planned. That's why none of them died.] Lyxor continued.
[Upon arrival, to Earth, I was swarmed by guardians and members of the big four. I was already weakened after splitting my body and consciousness in two, leaving me with no choice but to seal away my body and force it into eternal sleep. That way they cannot use my body for experiments. Since then, my body has been stored away until they can find some way to break my seal.]
Silence followed as Lucius began pacing around the room with a thoughtful look. Truly, the information given to him by Lyxor was beyond expectations.
He could remember Lyxor saying he wasn't ready for some knowledge and back then he felt annoyed, but now he truly understood what it was trying to say.
The information given to him that night was only a scratch of the surface, yet it was very disturbing.
This means the government was involved in the Blue Death that ruined the lives of billions of people.
They lied to the world and used the event for their own benefit.
"That's enough for tonight." Lucius said, knowing fully well that Lyxor was uncomfortable sharing this much information.
...
The next morning, Lucius washed himself and went down for breakfast. It was only 7 am, meaning he had at least thirty minutes of meal time before heading out for class.
The main reason for coming down for breakfast so early when he had class by 8 was because he didn't want people to see him eating so much.
[Your appetite will always be a problem. You can't depend on the academy's food to satisfy this hunger.] Lyxor said.
"What do you propose?" Lucius asked.
[Hunt!]
"You are crazy." Lucius rolled his eyes. "I can't just go out hunting every night, and I have no intention of feasting on corpses."
[You are not human but a higher life form. You must embrace all of it.] Lyxor urged, but Lucius decided to ignore it.
He walked down the stairs leading to the cafeteria and his eyes twitched as he saw the fat kid from yesterday seated with a tray overflowing with food.
"Fuck my life." Lucius cursed.
[I guess someone else had the same idea but for a different purpose.] Lyxor chuckled.
The fat kid noticed Lucius and quickly waved at him with a greasy hand and a smile which could land him a role in a horror movie.
He ignored the boy, picked up a tray, and began selecting his food.
Ten pieces of chicken laps, Ten pieces of chicken breasts, Five large pieces of steak, and a medium-sized portion of salad.
Lucius picked up a bottle of water and walked over to a lonely corner in the cafeteria.
He had only eaten for two minutes when he heard the fat Kid's heavy footsteps approaching.
"Dear Lord." Lucius facepalmed while Lyxor's laughter echoed at the back of his head.
"Hey, man!" The fat kid said between heavy breaths as he dropped his tray on the table and pulled out a seat.
"Why won't you leave me alone?" Lucius asked as he cut some steak and tossed it into his mouth.
He gazed at the fat kid, hoping for a disturbed reaction, but the kid didn't seem to care. He just grabbed a chicken lap and dipped it in a sauce before shoving it into his mouth, chewing both the meat and bones.
"Well. I think we will make a great team." the kid said with his mouth full.
[Damn. This kid should have been the one to inherit my Devour ability. No one would suspect a thing.]
"And why would an S-rated potential student like me team up with a D-rated potential student like you?" Lucius was intrigued by the kid's boldness.
"Because no one else would work with me, simply because I'm the son of a mere Baron. You on the other hand are an honorary Baron. We were meant for each other!" The kid smiled sheepishly, revealing his yellow-stained teeth.
