Chapter 356: Arrogant, lonely and pessimistic

"Professor ..."

Hermione gave Dumbledore a somewhat worried look.

In the young witch's heart, the Resurrection Stone was not a good thing at all, as it had the name 'Deathly Hallows'. Not to mention the fact that the Resurrection Stone was related to 'Death', just the word 'death' was not a good symbol.

In the Deathly Hallows lore, both the oldest and the second oldest had died because of the Deathly Hallows.

"Don't worry, I know what the Resurrection Stone does."

Dumbledore spoke in a complicated tone, "The dead who are summoned by the Resurrection Stone have a pessimistic mindset, and this pessimistic mindset will also affect the living."

"I know all this!"

"Miss Granger, consider it as fulfilling an old man's years-long wish!"

Towards the end, Dumbledore's tone even took on a hint of pleading.

Andy finally understood, why in the prophecy he made, Dumbledore would put on that ring without any defence.

Because he had waited for this moment for too long.

Saying sorry to his sister in person, this matter has become an obsession in Dumbledore's heart.

Even though he clearly knew that the dead person summoned by the resurrection stone was not his sister, but the impression he had in his heart for his sister, he still could not refuse to see 'her' again.

Andy had an indescribable feeling in his heart.

When he thought about it, the old headmaster was actually quite pitiful.

Andy adjusted his mind and looked down at the Elder wand in his hand.

"It's rejecting me," Andy said.

Dumbledore looked at Andy and opened his mouth to explain, "The conditions for the Elder wand to recognise its owner are rather harsh, only by defeating the Elder wand's previous owner can one become the new owner of the Elder wand."

Andy had naturally heard of this legend.

The Elder Wand was a wand that could make its owner invincible in battle, and it allowed the holder to cast extremely powerful magic. As for the condition to change the ownership of the Elder Wand, it was to defeat the owner of the Elder Wand.

If the wand was in Dumbledore's hands, then this condition was indeed rather harsh.

At least Andy couldn't do it.

After thinking about it, Andy waved the wand and cast a Reductor Curse on a large tree.

With a flash of a magic beam, the large tree crushed into powder without a sound and slowly dissipated into the air.

So thorough?

Andy raised his eyebrows and cast the Repairing Charm before the powder was completely scattered.

The scene in front of him was like turning back time, the powder that had gradually scattered returned in droves, and under the effect of the magic, it coalesced into the appearance of a large tree - a tree that appeared to be full of branches and leaves and was full of vigour and vitality.

Andy: "..."

If the effect of the Reductor Curse was still within Andy's expectations, then the effect of the Repairing Charm was completely beyond Andy's knowledge of magic.

In fact, with Andy's own magic attainments, he could also use the Reductor Curse to pulverise the large tree into powder.

But the effect of the Repairing Charm was definitely not this powerful!

In fact, the damage caused by some powerful spells could not be repaired by a Repairing Charm.

In Andy's perception, this level of destruction was absolutely impossible to recover with a Repairing Charm.

It was easier to cast magic, with greater magical power.

With these two points alone, the Elder Wand was worthy of the name of Deathly Hallows.

More crucially, the wand was still vaguely resisting Andy - Andy was simply unable to utilise its full power.

The Elder Wand is so strong, but the Resurrection Stone and the Invisibility Cloak ... which are renowned alongside it; Andy always feels that they are inferior to it.

Forget about the Invisibility Cloak, even if the invisibility effect is extremely strong, there are still a lot of flaws. As for the Resurrection Stone, it simply can't bring the dead back to life, and what is summoned is not the soul of the deceased.  

Is there any other hidden function?

Andy was puzzled in his mind.

"Professor, here's your wand."

Andy returned the Elder Wand to Dumbledore, and then asked the doubt in his heart, "Professor, how do I feel that the Resurrection Stone and the Invisibility Cloak, are not as powerful as the Elder Wand?"

Although Dumbledore had been without his wand before, Andy could easily kill him and take the Elder Wand for himself in the process.

But Andy wasn't going to do that.

It had nothing to do with being a good or bad person, Andy just simply didn't want to corrupt his character and do such a classless thing.

Even if he really wanted to own the Elder Wand, Andy would still defeat Dumbledore in a fair duel, in a one-on-one (or maybe a two-on-one), so that the Elder Wand would recognise him as his master.

Rather than taking the Elder Wand for himself through this deceitful method.

Dumbledore took the Elder Wand and asked rhetorically, "Mr Collins, what do you consider to be powerful?"

Andy froze at his words.

Dumbledore continued, "It is not only when magic is powerful that it is truly powerful."

"You said before that the Deathly Hallows have great power, the ability to be invisible, and the visions of the dead that can be summoned ... but I don't think so."

"Power makes one arrogant, invisibility makes one solitary, and illusion of the dead makes one pessimistic."

Seeing Andy show an unimpressed look, Dumbledore suddenly smiled, "It seems that we don't have the same view of power."

Andy spread his hands and said, "Magic is also a kind of power, but we are still learning about it."

If we follow Dumbledore's argument, then it would be better for everyone not to pursue power.

Dumbledore nodded, "You're right, magic is also a kind of power, that's why most wizards unconsciously carry an arrogant mindset when facing muggles."

"Even I can only try to avoid this mentality."

Andy: "..."

Andy had nothing to say about this.

Dumbledore continued, "You think that the Invisibility Cloak and the Resurrection Stone are useless, that's because you don't need them. Of course, you better never need them."

This was true, Andy didn't wish to need them either.

Andy did not raise another argument.

In terms of state of mind, Andy was still far from Dumbledore's level. So Andy could understand what he was saying, but it was hard to agree with it.

Turning his head to Hermione, Andy gave Hermione a wink to signal Hermione to give the Resurrection Stone to Dumbledore.

"Professor, this is the Resurrection Stone." Hermione handed the Resurrection Stone to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore took it carefully, and Andy also saw his fingers involuntarily trembling.

Needing the Resurrection Stone meant having lost someone dear to him or her.

"Thank you!" Dumbledore said.

"Professor ..." Hermione said, her voice was soft with some concern.

Andy opened his mouth, eager to brush up his image in Dumbledore's mind. But then realised that he simply couldn't be as genuinely concerned about Dumbledore as Hermione was.

The style of portrayal didn't match!

If Andy followed Hermione's example, not to mention that he would feel disgusted, it was estimated that even Dumbledore would feel uncomfortable.

"It was the summer of 1899, the last year of the last century ..." Dumbledore slowly told a story.
