Liam's Sister, Isis

"Well, this girl right here is being rude and causing disturbance. All I want is to have my lunch in peace.", Liam said as he glanced at the girl who was still fuming.

To his surprise though, the guard gave him an apologetic look but instead of keeping the girl in check, he let out a sigh before speaking to him.

"Sir, if you feel like your peace is getting disturbed, I suggest having your lunch in your room instead.", he said while giving him a fake smile while his forehead was creased with worry.

Liam could tell that there were more things at play than what he could see on the surface level so although he was angry with the situation he was in, he silently walked towards the stairs so that he could get back to his room.

While he was walking back to his room however, he heard the same guard's voice coming from behind him.

"I'm extremely sorry for what happened back there, sir.", the man apologized, "That young lady is an important person who is related to the owner of this hotel so going against her is not really good for me. She has been causing quite a bit of trouble lately and all the staff members are afraid of going against her."

While Liam felt sorry for the guy, he said nothing and continued to walk back to his room since he really wasn't in the mood to sooth someone else when he himself was pissed.

"Go back to do your thing.", he said as he opened the door to his room and walked inside, leaving the guard standing outside with an awkward smile on his face.

'Laws, personal strength and connections... unlike the novels I've read back on earth where only personal strength has the most value, here a person should have all the three to grow at a fast pace or to life a leisurely life without fearing for unpredictable things.

Of course, having insane luck can replace all the three things but that's highly unlikely in my case. I can get strong as time goes on since I can use multiple avatars in the long run. When it comes to connections, I should be able to get that done too as long as I socialize well.

As for getting through government laws... I don't think it is of much importance since most of the laws are there to maintain order in the society. It's not like I want to become a mass murderer anyways.', he thought as he sat on his bed with the plate of pasta in his hands.

As he continued to have his lunch, the incident with the girl was thrown to the back of his mind but just as he was about to lick the plate clean, he got a call.

(Little Devil)

"Little Devil... ah yeah my sister...", he muttered as he picked it up and brought the phone to his ear.

Unlike the cheerful, cute voice that she usually had in his memories, this time the only thing he could hear was a hoarse cracked voice.

He said nothing and silently listened as he felt like his stomach had tied itself into a knot. He could clearly listen to the sobs on the other end and he could guess the reason for it. After all, the only reason he was able to get the body was because the soul to which the body originally belonged to, was abused to no end from his childhood.

The only reason he was able to leave the place was because he studied hard whenever he had time but only when he left his house and the planet did he realise what he had done.

'The only reason she was able to live a normal life was because my parents kept targeting me. Now that I'm gone, it's obvious that they'll put their attention on her.', he thought.

He knew that the main reason for the real soul of Liam allowed him to take over the body was due to guilt of leaving his sister behind and since he wasn't able to think of a method to bring her with him, guilt kept on eating him up from the inside.

'Well, it's a good thing for me but to think that the feelings would still be lingering even though I'm not the real Liam... oh well, what's happening to her right now is not a good thing anyways so I guess I gotta do something...'

Taking a deep breath, he decided to speak, "Hey, Iris... can you um.. speak?"

"Big Brother, please. Please help me. Dad went to a gambling place and lost everything. Now he's trying to put me in as a collateral so that he can get his money back", she said while sobbing.

"I'm scared..."

Liam felt nauseous. Rage bubbled up as he couldn't help but ball his fist, "I'll send someone to get you out of there so just hide for now or you can also go to Rick's place. You should know about him right?"

His voice was calm, which was very different from what she had expected but that was the least of her worries at the moment. She nodded even though she knew that there was no one seeing her.

"Y- yes, I know him. You want me to go the coffee shop?", she asked hesitantly as she knew that it was one of the places where her brother's so called friends used to take him, only to let him out of the shop with multiple bruises.

Liam exhaled heavily, his mind filled with worry, "Yes. They're evil bastards but they're better than our parents. A guy will come and bring you to a safer place so just go there and wait."

"Okay.", he heard her say in a low voice before the call was ended.

While he wanted to urgently switch to his avatar so that he could personally go and get his sister from his house, he couldn't since the serum was still making changes to the body, which meant that he would not be able to use his avatar until it wakes up.
