Chapter 146 - A New Quest!?

A magic circle suddenly appeared, and a figure fell from it.

The sudden change startled Jeanne.

"What's going on?"

However, Jeanne did not take action. She hesitated because she could tell the person who fell out was a Devil.

Jeanne turned around and looked at Rias and the others for clarification.

"Tsubaki!"

As Asia's healing continued, Tsubaki's condition gradually improved, and she was able to answer Rias's question.

"Did he say where he took Sona?" Mahiro asked.

In fact, Mahiro wasn't surprised after hearing Tsubaki's words. He had warned Rias yesterday to inform Sona that Kokabiel might be targeting her.

Whether Sona had listened or not, Mahiro didn't care much.

Mahiro wasn't about to protect Sona as closely as he did with Rias, staying by her side constantly.

Normally, knowing that someone like Kokabiel might be targeting her, the best move would be for Sona to inform her family about Kuoh Town's situation.

Unfortunately, Sona hadn't done that. Instead, she tried to handle the situation on her own.

Even if Mahiro had offered to protect her, Sona probably would have refused.

"No..." Tsubaki replied weakly. "He only said that the game has begun, and the President is the prize."

"As expected, Mahiro-kun was right. Kokabiel's true goal in Kuoh Town is Rias and Sona," Akeno said seriously.

"A game of hide and seek?" Mahiro sneered.

"Kokabiel, seems quite eager," Jeanne said excitedly, licking her lips.

Jeanne naturally wanted to achieve feats that could compare to or even surpass those of her ancestors. A Fallen Angel Cadre made for an excellent target.

Even the original Joan of Arc might not have been able to handle such a powerful enemy.

"What should we do now?" Koneko asked, worry and anxiety evident in her eyes.

"What's going on?" The Church duo noticed the commotion in the living room and ran out of the kitchen, finding Asia in the middle of treating Tsubaki.

"Kokabiel is issuing a challenge," Mahiro replied.

"Wounded by Kokabiel?" Xenovia asked, glancing at the situation.

Irina also observed Tsubaki, who was being healed.

"Since he's thrown down the challenge, we can't just sit by..." Mahiro said. "We'll split into teams to search for Kokabiel. I'll take one team, and you form another."

"If anyone finds Kokabiel first, notify the others immediately."

Mahiro quickly made the decision, and the others didn't object. 

Mahiro possessed Boosted Gear, and with its Balance Breaker, he had the strength to face Kokabiel alone if necessary.

On the other hand, if the others faced Kokabiel alone, they'd likely be overwhelmed, so grouping together was the safest option.

"As for you, Asia, stay here and finish healing Tsubaki. Once she's stable, join us," Mahiro instructed.

Kokabiel's target was Sona and Rias. To Kokabiel, Tsubaki and Asia were minor characters, not worth his attention.

That was why Mahiro let them stay behind in the villa.

"Got it," Asia nodded.

"Thank you..." Tsubaki replied weakly.

"Alright, let's go."

After ensuring Tsubaki was cared for, everyone split up and set off in different directions to search for Kokabiel.

"Intervening in the story has brought quite a few surprises," Mahiro thought to himself as he wandered through Kuoh Town, searching for Kokabiel.

In the anime, Kokabiel had directly attacked Kuoh Academy in a flashy manner.

This time, however, he hadn't appeared so boldly.

Mahiro suspected that after showing his identity as the Red Dragon Emperor, Kokabiel had become wary of him.

So, Kokabiel had adjusted his strategy.
