Chapter 131 - I'll Hug You Later!
"Do you like your life now?" Mahiro asked Asia.
Asia was silent for a moment before nodding slightly, admitting with a soft voice, "I like it."
Compared to her dull life in the Church, this was the life she had always longed for.
Here, she didn't need to be a saint or endure the stares of others who looked at her like a monster.
She had friends to talk to, people who cared about her, and she could do what she loved. Plus, there was Mahiro, whom she liked.
"As long as you're happy, there's no need to worry about the opinions of irrelevant people," Mahiro gently ruffled Asia's hair. "No matter what others think, to me, you deserve more happiness than anyone else."
"But..." Asia hesitated, wanting to speak but unsure of what to say.
As a devout believer, being called names like witch and depraved by the Church deeply saddened her and left her feeling helpless.
"No buts!" Mahiro said firmly. "The Church's true purpose is to lead people toward kindness, not to divide them into ranks and factions."
"There's nothing in the teachings that should unsettle people. Even if someone is a Devil, as long as their heart leans toward kindness, they're worth saving."
"And I believe you're the most devout believer," Mahiro smiled warmly.
"As for witch and saint, those are just labels the Church slapped on you unfairly. You never did anything harmful or betrayed them. After your powers awakened, they arbitrarily deemed you a saint."
"And when you healed a Devil, they quickly branded you a witch."
"If anyone is truly in the wrong here, then that so-called God must be too! How absurd is that?"
"Um, Mahiro-kun, the Lord can't be wrong..." Asia said weakly.
"Don't argue with me!" Mahiro lightly tapped Asia's head, making her wince in pain, but the lifelessness that had been in her eyes faded.
"I know, I was wrong..." Asia said, shaking her head while still wincing.
"By the way, Asia, didn't I tell you something before?" Mahiro suddenly asked.
"What?" Asia looked up, confused.
"If something's bothering you, you're not allowed to keep it bottled up—you have to tell me. Did you forget?" Mahiro's eyes sparkled with mischief.
"..." Asia shrank down and buried her face in Mahiro's chest like a shy child. "I just didn't want to worry you, Mahiro-kun... I'm sorry."
Seeing her like this, Mahiro couldn't bring himself to be upset anymore.
"Fine, I'll let it slide this time, just because it's you," Mahiro said with a hint of maturity.
"Thank you, Mahiro-kun. You're so kind," Asia smiled sweetly as she nestled into his embrace.
Ten minutes passed.
Mahiro and Asia were still in the same cozy position.
"Asia, you should get up now. Mahiro is a bit of a pervert, and if you keep tempting him like this, he won't be able to resist," Koneko said quietly as she watched them, though a flash of envy briefly crossed her face despite her deadpan expression.
"Just a little longer... just a little longer..." Asia lifted her head slightly from Mahiro's chest, glanced at Koneko, and whispered.
Then, she buried her head again, showing no intention of moving.
"I'll let you borrow Darling's chest for now, Asia," Rias said with a helpless smile. She could easily see through Asia's thoughts.
"But Darling, you're mine later. Asia can't have you all to herself," Rias added with a playful smile.
"In that case, I want a turn too," Akeno chimed in with a teasing tone, looking at Asia with admiration. "Asia-chan is being quite bold!"
Asia, now flustered, buried her face even deeper into Mahiro's chest, feeling utterly embarrassed.
"Alright, Akeno, let's go get dinner ready," Rias said, walking toward the kitchen.
"Yes," Akeno replied, smiling brightly as she followed.
They left the living room, leaving Mahiro, Asia, and Koneko behind.
"Koneko, do you have something to say?" Mahiro asked, feeling a little uneasy as Koneko's faint gaze lingered on him.
Koneko didn't respond with words, but her silent stare was enough.
"Well then, Koneko, how about I hug you later? I haven't hugged you yet," Mahiro suggested, thinking for a moment.
"Okay," Koneko nodded without hesitation. "Nevermind, I can't refuse a pervert like you."
Mahiro was left speechless.
This darn tsundere!
It seemed she had been waiting for that offer.
After being comforted, Asia quickly shook off her sadness. She was, after all, a naturally cheerful person. Even after being expelled from the Church, she still had a positive outlook on life.
Now, surrounded by so many caring people, it was easy for her to bounce back.
The next day, everyone went to class as usual.
"Those two Church members said they'd visit today, but they haven't shown up yet... I'm worried they're planning something," Rias murmured, leaning lazily against the window, gazing outside.
It was already afternoon. Most classes had ended, with some students going home while others stayed for club activities.
"They should be the ones worrying, not us," Mahiro said as he picked up his teacup and took a sip, unbothered.
"True, but having Church members roaming around in my territory makes me uneasy," Rias admitted.
"Church members? President, what's going on?" Yuuto asked, his eyes flashing with a strange light.
Suddenly, his body stiffened, and he turned toward the school gate. "This aura..."
"Looks like they're coming," Mahiro raised his eyebrows.
