Freya was restless the entire night, unable to sleep as her mind raced with thoughts of the men and what Rowan might have done to them. She knew Rowan's temper and feared for the safety of those men though they were foolish with their acts but she didn't want them dead. Freya recalled how Rowan was looking even angrier than she was. His order for her to return to her room had been clear, he didn't want to see her outside.
But why? Did he really like her? Was that why he had asked her to be his wife? All these thoughts clouded Freya's mind as she rolled on the bed, unable to shake off the questions and doubts that lingered until the next morning.
Freya woke up to a soft knock on her door and got out of bed to answer it. To her surprise, Princess Lirien stood in the hallway, looking frantic.
"Freya!" the princess exclaimed, hugging her tightly. "I heard what happened, and I'm so sorry. It's all my fault for leaving you behind."
