Did I Miss Something?

—GASTON'S POV—

"Lord Louis."

Gaston had been to preoccupied in his mind to have even noticed the Imperial Son walk in, eyes still on the open book he hadn't been reading since the Southern Prince had left the sick bay.

He blinked his eyes rapidly, leaving the mind space he'd retreated into, and turned to look at the taller prince who had walked through the door. He'd sent King Ísar a reassuring smile, the young king of course merely a step beside Prince Li.

Gaston didn't feel the odd pain in his chest at the sight of the two anymore. It had dulled over the past month, his sister being the first to let him know that it had just been a childish crush on the first genuine friend he'd made. He still very much liked King Ísar, but he was glad that it had moved towards a more platonic feeling.
