Divorce

Fear gripped Tatiana as they saw a shoulder with a long coat. They stood still, wishing for the awful moment to pass. Luckily, the figure went back. And they made their way home.

"There is something fishy here. You can't tell me that your so-called husband doesn't know your movements. He is monitoring you; it could be through your phone. Or there is a camera in this house," Arlo said as he paced around the room. His mind wasn't at rest as he faced the pressure.

"Camera? He hasn't been here; he doesn't even know I have a house here," Tatiana said. Arlo looked at her and smirked.

"Sometimes you sound like a joke. How did he find out so many things about you? The same way, he can do anything. Enough with the talk; let's find a solution to this." Arlo said that and picked up Tatiana's phone.

"What are you doing with my phone?" She demanded to know, but couldn't stand up from the floor. Arlo, with the little knowledge he had in tech, ignored her and started searching the phone. After going through it all, he found out that Tatiana's phone was cloned.

"Yeah! This is it. Here you go." Arlo passed the phone to Tatiana. At the sight of what was on her phone, she shivered. Three laptops were connected to her phone, all by one person.

Her body started shaking, unable to hold the phone. "I'm finished. OMG!!! How long has this been happening?" She rhetorically asked and handed the phone to Arlo. Arlo suggested that they check the house for more cameras. Tatiana doubted him at first, but later gave in to it.

Arlo switched off all the lights and appliances. "What are you doing?" Tatiana confusingly demanded to know. Arlo said nothing; he went ahead to unveil everything. As the lights went off, everywhere became deep dark, and a pin drop of silence enveloped the house. Arlo brought out his phone and put on the torchlight.

"Come and see for yourself," Arlo called on Tatiana. She struggled to stand up. As she looked at the phone, she saw cameras mounted from different angles in her house. Behind the air conditioning and some appliances. She was shocked; she has been under watch all her life. "Stop the video and remove all of them," she commanded Arlo.

Arlo dropped the phone and started destroying all the cameras. After that, he disconnected Tatiana's phone from all the connected devices, but there was something wrong. Arlo saw the tiny gold on the back of Tatiana's phone, and he stopped. "This is a camera," he said to Tatiana. She looked at him and sighed.

"It can never be. That is a diamond worth $10 million, and it was given to me by him." Tatiana said, raising more cause for alarm.

"He gave this to you, and you think nothing is inside? You must be joking. Remove it!"

"I can't. It's for my phone beautification, and nothing will make me remove it. Let's stop this argument and get to the airport now. Since we succeeded in destroying his monitoring instruments, we have to leave before he comes to find us here," Tatiana stated. Fear filled her tone.

Arlo looked at her and sighed, knowing that their movement might be successful because of the little diamond. It was already getting late when they got there and booked a flight, which will take off in three hours. Arlo couldn't sit down because he was so scared of the open area. They could be easily penetrated.

There were five minutes remaining on the flight. As the flight take-off time was announced to all passengers, Tatiana stood up. A bullet from nowhere penetrated into her left chest; it was a silencer because no sound was heard.

As Arlo saw that, he bent down alongside other passengers. Arlo crawled onto the floor to meet Tatiana, but she had already stopped breathing. Arlo took the diamond on her neck and the gold on her hand. He looked at the diamond on her phone. "This will be taken by people that don't deserve it," Arlo said in his heart, and he took it before the security guards started running in.

Arlo stayed away from the body so that he wouldn't be questioned. He wanted to leave the country by all means; the heat was getting too much. But he was lucky that the killer didn't ask for his life. All the passengers started running towards the plane, including Arlo, who covered his face.

As he was seated on the plane, he brought out the house documents. "I will only be here when needed, but I can never go back to that house. I will put it on sale," Arlo murmured to himself. He looked at his left hand, and Tatiana's picture popped up. Only if she had listened to him.

He finally landed safely in his country, and joy filled his heart. "I am safe," he said as he jumped out of the plane.

He had already texted his wife that he was on his way back. So he decided to surprise her with an expensive diamond. As he got to the store, he saw a large banner with his wife as an ambassador for a popular brand. He smiled. He also made some calls inside the store.

He got home with a heart filled with joy, ready to see his wife. This time, no more quarrels, because the problem has been settled.

As he was about to step inside, someone stopped him. He looked back; it was his brother-in-law. "Hey man! How have you been?" He extended his hand to greet his brother-in-law, but he ignored him and asked him to stand outside. Before Arlo could say something, they became two, pushing her back. "In my house? What's going on here?" Arlo, in that confused state, asked, but no one gave him any answer.

As he battled with them, his wife majestically walked out with her uncle and others. Arlo waited for her to give him a hug, but he was dreaming. Peggy smiled and handed a document to him without saying anything.

"What is going on here?" Arlo asked as he held the documents in his left hand.

"Open it," Peggy commanded.

He gradually brought out the documents in the envelope. The heading was boldly written: DIVORCE AGREEMENT. Arlo was shocked; he thought it was a prank, but the seriousness in their faces left him dumbfounded. "My sweet angel, what is going on here?" He asked with a very romantic tone.

"Don't you dare vomit such a thing out of your mouth again. You will sign that document, then go outside to find your classmate who can be your sweet angel. I know you ain't blind to the fact that we have nothing in common again.

Arlo tried to know what the problem was, and he was given a chance. After several insults from Peggy's family, he angrily signed the documents and asked them to move out of the house.

Peggy took two steps forward: "Remember you put my name on the house documents, loser?"
