3. Love at First Sight

"Okay, it's done. Are you feeling better now?" Alexandra asked softly after she finished with her treatment.

"Yes, much better. Thank you very much." Benjamin replied with gratitude.

"Young miss, we need to go. Your father is expecting you." The older man in black suddenly said.

"Oh yes. We should go. Will you be able to get home on your own?" She asked worriedly.

"Yes, thank you again". Benjamin replied with a smile. Hearing that, the girl then proceeded to get into a luxury car parked nearby.

"Wait, may I know your name?" Benjamin suddenly realized he didn't know her name.

"It's Alexandra Zane." She flashed him a smile before getting into the car and drove off.

"Alexandra Zane." Benjamin repeated with a smile on his lips.

The kindness shown to him that day never left his memory. Alexandra occupied his mind all the time. When he got home, once he had time to himself, he immediately searched about her and discovered her real identity. Being an heiress to such a big and successful corporation means constant exposure in the media. The Zane family was also an influential family in the upper class echelons amongst the rich and famous families in Azteria. Therefore, it couldn't be help that the media was always trying to get the latest scoop on her. However, being someone who treasure her privacy, it was not easy to get any news or pictures of her, apart from the times she attended social functions or charity events with her father, Sir Dominic Zane.

When Alexandra turned 18, she blossomed into a very beautiful young woman. Added to her tall and slim stature, she became the dream girl of every eligible bachelor in town. Her hourglass figure was perfect and she had many offers to model on international runways by famous designers. But she turned them down politely as fame was not something she's after. Although many men desired her, not many dared to make a move on her. With her high intelligence and wealth in her hands, they felt inadequate and didn't want to make a fool of themselves. Those who dared, after a few exchanges in a conversation with her often left them speechless and not able to keep up with her level of knowledge. They ended up feeling dejected and ashamed. However, Alexandra always had a way to make everyone around her felt comfortable and therefore, these men although embarrassed, would also felt grateful for her gentle, humble and kind demeanour. These attributes made them respect her more.

Benjamin often spent his free time browsing the internet for any news related to Alexandra Zane. He often wondered of ways to get close to her. Many times, he was tempted to approach her using his identity as Prince Benjamin Wright Vern Dupont, but after studying her demeanour and action towards the other young and eligible bachelors who approached her, Benjamin realized that this unique lady didn't care much for status or looks. Therefore he thought of another way.

Suddenly a thought came to mind one day. The only way to get close to her was to work with her. He knew of Alexandra's interest in medicine from one of the rare interviews by her and she was currently doing her residency at one of the renowned hospitals in the country. With his level of intelligence, learning medicine would be something he could consider. However, his major in the university was finance and business, which was also something he excelled at. Going back to study a second degree at this point of time would not only be time consuming, but upon graduation he would be Alexandra's "junior" in the field despite him being older than her. That wouldn't do at all!

Looking at Alexandra's latest presence at a charity gala, a sudden thought hit him. There's definitely a way to be close to her. By doing this, he would not only be near her all the time, he would also be the closest person to her. Benjamin made up his mind there and then. He would be Alexandra's bodyguard!

Upon making this decision, Benjamin began to diligently trained himself. He was already proficient in various martial arts since he was young so that's an advantage. He just needed to harness his ballistics skills to have a more impressive resume in order to secure that position.

He noticed that the same older man whom Alexandra called Uncle Sam was present wherever Alexandra went so Benjamin used his contacts to gain more information about this person. He got to know that the man, Samuel See was an army veteran and was bound for retirement. Therefore, there would be a vacant position for Alexandra's bodyguard soon. Delighted at this piece of news, Benjamin asked his contacts to recommend him for this position. Given his impressive resume and experience in the martial arts, Benjamin Wright was eventually hired as Alexandra's bodyguard and driver.

Now that he had met her and would start work tomorrow, Benjamin felt elated and couldn't sleep a wink that night. He was happy but nervous at the same time. Being so close to the girl he's in love with for so many years, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to control himself. Once again his thoughts drifted to her alluring smile and gentle eyes. He sighed and eventually closed his eyes.
