Chapter 349: Passing the Torch Mission 3

When Clark returned to the Avengers' base, he found that around thirty Spider-Men had already gathered on the landing pad outside the base, along with young Peter and his mentor Tony Stark, who had rushed over after detecting anomalies through their spider-sense.

Seeing Clark return, Tony quickly approached him and asked, "Clark, how did it go?"

Clark shrugged nonchalantly and replied confidently, "I took matters into my own hands. What do you think happened?"

Impressed by Clark's demeanor, Tony was caught off guard.

Clark then turned his attention to Gwen, "The guy we encountered was strong. If there are more like him among your enemies, I don't think you stand much chance. You are my divine power host in this parallel universe after all; I wouldn't want my effort in nurturing a host to go to waste..."

As he spoke, his gaze swept across the assembled Spider-Men, and he stated decisively, "Tell me everything you know. I'll take care of this troublesome Heir family myself."

The Spider-Men were naturally overjoyed to hear Clark's decision, although it was difficult to tell them apart when checking their impression scores.

It was hard to distinguish their faces too, but that didn't matter much right now.

Among them, the Spider-Man from Earth-616, destined to meet with the O-A-A in the future, did not share their blind optimism. His spider-sense was sharper than the others, and he felt that the situation was not as simple as it seemed.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, a portal crackling with sparks and lightning appeared on the landing pad of the Avengers' base.

A tall man with pale, golden hair and a face like a noble horse stepped out of the portal and immediately addressed Clark, "Clark, I suggest you stay out of this Spider-Men affair."

The newcomer was none other than Stephen Strange, one of the illustrious figures of the Marvel universe, now turned into Doctor Strange.

Upon his arrival, Strange immediately interfered with Clark's plans, prompting Clark to frown, "Strange, you'd better have a good explanation for your advice."

Having witnessed Clark dissuading Dormammu himself, Strange did not dare provoke this multiverse entity. Seeing Clark's displeasure, he quickly explained, "Clark, I'm not trying to interfere with your decision. I used the Eye of Agamotto to foresee the future and discovered that Earth will face many challenges soon. If you're not around..."

Strange didn't finish his sentence, but it was clear that the upcoming troubles might be too much for others to handle.

Especially concerning time travel, there could be unexpected deviations; it's not like spending five minutes wiping out the Heirs would mean only five minutes pass on Earth. Every universe has its own flow of time!

In the movie universe alone, Thor and Loki fell from the Bifrost and ended up on Sakaar, with a two-week difference between their arrivals!

Strange highlighted the complexity of time rules in the Marvel movie universe compared to other universes where playing with time could lead to different outcomes without changing the original timeline.

Facing a serious-looking Strange, Clark demanded, "What exactly will Earth face in the future you saw?"

Strange replied solemnly, "Clark, the future is not set in stone. If I tell you what I've seen, it might change what is supposed to happen, which may not be beneficial..."

Clark interrupted him, not wanting more evasive answers, "Speak clearly."

Strange reluctantly smiled, "In your Chinese culture, there is a saying about the secrecy of heavenly matters..."

Clark's smile turned threatening, "Are you really not going to tell me?"

"Alright, I can't see it clearly," Strange confessed under Clark's intimidating gaze. "With your power, I can't see any destiny related to you. That's probably why the troubles Earth will face soon can only be resolved by you."

It seemed there was some logic to Strange's words.

Given Strange's abilities, there wasn't much he couldn't foresee, and the problems of the future being similarly obscure linked the two uncertainties.

Clark nodded, accepting Strange's reasoning, and abandoned the idea of personally dealing with the Heir family. His gaze swept over the Spider-Men again, noting that only a few maintained their composure while the excitement of the others had turned to disappointment. Even through their suits, Clark could see their change in spirit.

Contrasts show who excels.

Clark wasn't too interested in the few outstanding Spider-Men but called Gwen over instead.

Gwen promptly approached, "Mr. Clark."

Clark touched her forehead with a tap, then said with a smile, "Be careful, and prioritize your safety. If you encounter an enemy you can't handle, call upon my power for help. I've just strengthened that dose of divine power. It might not handle the strongest foes, but it should suffice against anyone of the level I just dispatched."

Gwen received a surge of approval, and

 the other Spider-Men couldn't hide their envy.

Previously, when they realized Gwen had a powerful ally, they lamented their different fates. Now, seeing this ally could also upgrade his assistance as needed, they were lost for words.

Especially some of the female Spider-Men, upon realizing Gwen's ally wasn't some old man with a white beard but a stunningly handsome man, began contemplating whether to follow her example and seek such powerful support.

After Clark's comforting words, Gwen hugged him without hesitation. After a long embrace, she reluctantly let go and asked in a soft voice, "Why is it always the forehead?"

Clark shook his head with a smile, "I can't touch below the neck; it's a decree beyond the O-A-A. I can't give more details than that. Focus more on the Heirs now. You are now the lead combatant among the Spider-Men."

Nodding, Gwen bid Clark farewell and, along with the other Spider-Men, activated the space transport device created by Chapter Parker, leaving for another parallel universe.

Tony, initially concerned for young Parker, also wanted to follow but was dissuaded by Doctor Strange for similar reasons to Clark. However, before parting, Tony gave young Parker a newly upgraded suit to enhance his survival chances.

Watching the Spider-Men disappear into the spatial vortex, Clark's lips curled into a playful smile.

Just as the portal to the parallel universe opened, he received a system notification:

Passing the Torch Mission 3: Eliminate the Heir family, help the Spider-Men through the extinction crisis.

Mission Reward: The use energy of the special BGM "Move Heaven" will be replenished.

Failure Penalty: If the mission fails, the system will no longer issue Passing the Torch missions to the host!

It seemed that only when facing a crisis involving other timelines did the Passing the Torch missions activate.

Clark felt he was beginning to understand the rules of these missions. Everything would wait until Gwen and her team dealt with the vampire-like Heirs.

As Strange had predicted, the flow of time differed between the dimensions.

Months had passed in the movie universe since the Spider-Men left, but there had been no news about completing the Passing the Torch mission.

Communicating with the divine power within Gwen, Clark learned they had just arrived in a parallel universe where one of the Spider-Men had become the cosmic captain, and they were still planning their battle strategy.

It seemed a while longer was needed before the final battle could commence.

Meanwhile, the Earth crisis Strange mentioned had not shown any signs yet. Instead, an invitation from Nick Fury caught Clark's interest.

The aging King T'Chaka of Wakanda was planning to pass the throne to his son T'Challa and had invited Clark to the ceremony.
