Chapter 1745 S: Major Apocalypse Event (Twelve) _1

"What the heck?!"

Kant exclaimed in surprise, looking at the bright spot occupying most of the screen. He didn't realize it was actually a curtain of light composed of many smaller bright spots. He thought, either the machine was broken, or something had happened to the target.

Either way, he was in deep trouble. Just a few days ago, he had been demoted by Lord Desaad for poor frontline reconnaissance work. This time, he had to perform perfectly to regain honor. Otherwise, his status would plummet.

With that sense of urgency, Kant raced towards the target at the fastest speed.

Spider Man sprang up behind the door in a flash, widened his lens-like spider eyes, and said: "My spider-sense is tingling. A strong enemy is rapidly approaching!"

"Boom! Boom, boom, boom!"

"Zap!"

Spider Man's feet dug deep grooves into the ground as he held the door. The sudden impact tightened his muscles momentarily.

"Who are you? Why are you attacking us?!" Spider Man shouted.

Kant activated his translator and roared back, "Whoever is in there, surrender now. Lord Desaad wants you alive. It's pointless to resist!!!"

"In your dreams!" Spider Man stubbornly held the door, looked at Barry who was still unconscious on the floor, pushed harder against the door, and said: "Monster, get back to your world, I won't let you in!"

Hearing the young voice on the other side, Kant revealed a cold smile.

After ten minutes, the sound of dripping water echoed in the maze-like hallway. One drop after another splashed ripples on the moist ground. Three beads of sweat slipped from Kant's shoulder to the ground.

He was sweating profusely, his muscles straining, and the veins at the junction of his cheeks and jaw bulging, from both exhaustion and anger.

"Oh, Mr. Strongman, I guess you're running out of power, aren't you? You said earlier you're the best fighter in the universe. I beg to differ, unless the arms of everyone in your universe are as thin as Mario's flagpole, and their bodies as brittle as Tank War walls. How else could you be the best?"

"What's your name, Kant? Did your mother tell you when she named you that it sounded like the surname of a southern ultra-conservative religious leader? Ah, were you exerting just now? If I hadn't played a pushing game with George's four-year-old brother a few days ago, I wouldn't have felt it at all."

"You...you damned brat!!" Kant swore, "You'll pay for this, the Dark Elites will not let you go!!!"

"Is that your supergroup's name? That's lame. It sounds like the name of a heretic organization that distributes leaflets in department stores. How pathetic!"

Kant huffed and puffed. Before today, he had never thought anyone could match him in strength. He is part of Darkseid's Dark Elites, also known as the Darkseid Elite Club, the universe's top fighter, which often requires great strength.

But now, he was arm wrestling with Spider Man, and the match wasn't about who had on more pressure, but who had more friction.

"Oh, have we been stuck here for half an hour already? I didn't forget to say the game rules, right? If you've taken basic physics, you should know that this isn't about who's stronger, but who has better friction."

His angry and confused expression was reflected in the thin crack in the door. The room was covered in spider webs, providing Spider Man with robust fixation power through a miraculous mechanical structure, coupled with the powerful adhesion device on his uniform's sole. Spider Man could go on like this for a year.

Kant showed a furious expression as he realized he's been tricked. Yet, he didn't understand how he'd been tricked and he also didn't realize that he was the biggest loser in this half-hour-long stalemate. Spider Man's trash-talking was making him lose his mind.

A good fighter must have a clear mind for fighting and the wisdom to analyze situations calmly. Kant was losing this ability, especially when there were constant nagging requests from the communication device.

A gleam of cold light flashed in Kant's eyes. He let go of the door and flexed his wrist, lowering his voice, "I thought you were just a bunch of kids, not worth my true power. Now, I'm telling you, you've made me mad, and you'll pay for it!"

Helen, the one who assimilates power the fastest, came over, yawned, dug her ear and said, "Has anyone ever told you that you're old-fashioned? What era is this and you're still saying these villain clichés? Even a line like 'I will make you feel my pain' would be hipper."

Kant could no longer handle it. He pressed a button on his armguard. Simultaneously, his yellow and purple armor flickered with energy luster, purple and gold energy field spread around him then shrunk back to his armor surface. Kant put his hands on the door and pushed.

"Take this!!!"

"Uh!"

Spider Man let out a short gasp, his feet slid back about ten centimeters. Helen crossed her arms and asked, "Need help?"

Spider Man's spider eyes slowly squinted. He looked at the gradually widening crack in the door and raised his voice. "Mr. Strongman, is this your trump card?"

"Heh, what do you kids know?! His Majesty Darkseid has the most advanced technology system in the universe. All of our weapons have been optimized countless times. My armor greatly enhances my burst power. If you don't want your arm to break, surrender now!"

Helen shivered, she rubbed her arms and said, "He's so old-fashioned it makes my toes curl. Even our villain, Mandarin, who hid for decades, isn't as old-fashioned as him. Where did they dig him up from?!"

Spider Man let out a light sigh. He looked at Kant, who was pressing his bloodshot eyes against the crack in the door, glaring at him fiercely, and said, "Do you know the most dangerous part of this game?"

Before Kant could answer, Spider Man said, "I can't touch you, so I can use the power that can't be used on humans on this door..."

"Hahahahaha! What kind of nons..."

Kant suddenly found that the resistance he was facing had lessened. He was about to retort Spider Man's nonsense when an unstoppable massive force hit him next second.

"Bang!!!!!!!"

"I told you, you're pathetic." Spider-man, maintaining the position of pushing the door, said whilst standing in the doorway, watching Kant being flung to the end of the corridor.

Kant, who was smacked against the wall at the end of the corridor, struggled and fell to the ground. He turned his head and saw his arm guard shattered. He looked wide-eyed in Spider Man's direction, only to see a thin and frail youth.

"How is this possib..."

"Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!"

A series of fervid laughter echoed, Kant who was lying on the floor, heard a sharp female laugh coming from the room behind Spider Man. The malice and madness in the laughter made his brain tremble.

"Who was the one laughing just now?!" A slender figure with long hair suddenly appeared in the dark corridor, her boning knife's shadow stretched long by the dim light.

They have come out, this is my chance! A light flashed in Kant's eyes. Surely they are all just kids, couldn't he pretend to be weak to lure them out? Were they so easily tricked?

Meanwhile, the gray mist complained in Shiller's mind, "I swear I have almost completely purified the darkness within the energy, but she absorbs darkness particularly well. Now she has truly become Harley Quinn."

"She might have just been too excited before, didn't get to vent it out. Finally had an opponent and gained more power, so she completely went mad. But I guess she'll calm down after a while," Shiller responded.

Kant squinted his eyes, as Harley approached, he saw her childish face, a look of derision appeared on Kant's face. He was right, a room full of children, probably all Batman's kids.

If he could bring back such a loaded return to meet Lord Desaad, not only could his status be restored, but if his plan against Batman worked, he could definitely take another step forward.

Kant clenched his fists, his arm muscles ready to burst, his leg muscles tightening for a brief moment then he transformed into an invisible air current. Using the narrow walls of the corridor for leverage, he bounced back and forth, with a shifty skill difficult for a mortal to catch, he appeared beside Harley.

As hairs fluttered, Kant's face appeared behind Harley's ear, his whisper, "Too slow, little girl." resonating with the sound of his punched fists.

Suddenly, Kant saw the reflection of his eyes, a gigantic boning knife floated quietly in front of him, and near to the handle of the knife were Harley's eyes, mostly hidden by her long bangs, filled with malicious pleasure.

"Swish! Swish, swish, swish!"

Kant crossed his arms to shield himself. In just two seconds, a single boning knife made hundreds of marks on his protective gauntlets. As he put down his arms, Kant saw the knife flew back into Harley's hand.

"Telekinesis? Object control magic?" Kant murmured to himself, could this girl be the powerful individual among humans that Weiman has been talking about? And the boy behind her too?

If all Batman's children are powerhouses, how powerful must he be himself?

Kant shook his head slightly, to shake his jumbled thoughts out of his mind. But just as his eyes came into focus, strands of platinum hair brushed past his nose, his reflexive turn to the right disharmony with a grinning face flitting past him.

"Zi la——Bang!"

The blade grazed his neck, causing a series of transparent ripples. Kant spun and flew backward, landing heavily on the ground before clutching his throat.

"Haha, your primitive civilization will never understand the technology of the Apocalypse Star. My armor's whole body protective field, your little knife can't cut through it!"

Half kneeling on the ground, Kant pushed hard on his foot, his thigh muscles fueling up again, the moment Harley's figure charging from the corner was caught in the center of his eyes, Kant jumped high, kicked off the intersection of the wall and ceiling. He flung the other leg, like a whip, aimed at Harley's waist.

"Hahahahahahahaha!" Harley burst into manic laughter, waves of blade light slashing on her leg. She nimbly darted downwards dodging the sweeping leg kick, charging from the ground-corner upwards.

Kant who was originally on attack mode felt a mood of irritation rise from his heart. As he steadied himself on the ground, the anger that Spider Man invoked made its appearance once again. He bellowed at Harley.

"Damn it, what the hell are you laughing at?!!!!"

Harley stood up gently, like a white ghost. She tilted her head back, peering at Kant through the slits between her long hair, and laughed even more wickedly.

"I am laughing… because I'm about to cut you into thirteen pieces!!!!!!"

"Zing!"

The long knife separates between furious and insane eyes, the two collided again, amidst the sparks of knives and fists, more and more darkness gushed out from Harley's mouth and nose.
